Six problems related to adaptive cruise control have been reported for the 2018 Nissan Murano. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2018 Nissan Murano based on all problems reported for the 2018 Murano.
Forward collision control sensor goes on and off, until it stays off all the time. It also has made the cruise control unoperable. After about 1 month the abs light came on, the code was yaw sensor. Reset code and no problems for about 10 days. Started car one morning in garage and abs light was on again, same code. On many internet sites there are thousands of people complaining about the forward collision control on the Muranos and other Nissan models. There should be a recall on these issues. Dealerships want to hold my car for 4-5 days before working on it, then tell me the problems with it and then me tell how much to fix it and when they can get to it. This forward collision problem is a safety issue braking the vechile to avoid a wreck.
My 2018 Nissan Murano intelligent forward collision warning system (ifcws) kicks on randomly and inadvertently when there is no forward collision risk. This causes the ifcws light to come on and the cruise control to be disabled while driving causing a higher risk of an accident. This is a known issue that has yet to have a recall.
The sensor shuts off and warning beeps “unavailable front radar obstruction” which then shuts off cruise control and crash avoidance. This happens in dry weather with no rain or snow.
While driving with cruise control set at 80, I passed a vehicle and as I began to return to the driving lane from the passing lane, the control panel beeped and a warning "front radar unavailable due to obstruction" appeared and the vehicle immediately decelerated drastically and the cruise control was disengaged and disabled. I had to react quickly to avoid a rear collision by accelerating rapidly. There were no vehicles in front of me or on either side. The cruise was disabled for about 4-5 minutes. This happened a total of 12 times in a 5. 5 hour trip. I googled the problem and realized that it was ongoing for many years and involved a recall on other vehicles, but not mine. This is dangerous and should be a recall part before someone gets killed or seriously injured.
The distance measuring sensor failed on my 2018 Murano. The vehicle would suddenly brake on its own without warning, with no vehicles in its path. Then, later if a vehicle would pass you and move in front of you a warning light would go on with the message "front radar unavailable due to obstruction". There are service bulletins out on this since 2015. It is my understanding through research that Nissan received a bad lot of sensors from their oem producer. They are aware of this, yet they refuse to issue a recall to replace these defective sensors.
The front radar module frequently fails disabling the automatic emergency braking and the adaptive cruise control.
