While operating the vehicle the sun visor drops down unexpectedly, completely obstructing the driver's view. This has occurred approximately four times since the first incident approximately four days ago. When this happens the driver's view of the road is completely obstructed and due to the sudden and unexpected nature of the sun visor dropping down this could easily cause an accident. It is very frightening when it happens.
When you push on the gas the car does not go for a few seconds then when it goes it lunges forward. This makes it very hard to make a left turn in front of traffic, you do not know if the car is going to move at first or not. And when you are in stop and go traffic and go to move up just a little bit the car does not go then when it does you almost hit the car in front of you. My understanding is this is the cvt vavle body. My car is giving error code p1722 per the dealer. The paperwork they gave me says estem spd. Sig.
The "service engine soon" warning light has come on several times since I purchased my 2003 Nissan Murano. When in slow traffic or the engine has warmed up, when I press on the accelerator the car will not pick up speed, unless I depress it to the floor board. I'm terrified that I will be hit from the rear while waiting for my to get engine power. Doing my research online I noticed there was a recall NHTSA campaign id # 03v455000) for this exact problem on this year, make and model. I called Nissan with my VIN # and was told that my VIN# was not included in this recall. I'm very frustrated with Nissan at this point. I don't understand how if my car is doing the exact same thing as described in the recall, same year, make & model, why they would take a chance in the safety of me as well as my family. Is there anyone or anything else that I can do in order for Nissan to honor this recall since it was have a direct effect on the safety of my family, myself and other drivers if it was to cause a crash as they describe in their recall.
Driver side sun visor has lost its ability to maintain a position other than fully down or fully up and is often blocking vision.
Nhtsa recall campaign 03v455000: camshaft position sensor failed; called Nissan and was told my VIN is not included in the list of recalled vehicles, even though symptoms are the same.
Power steering hose is leaking, power steering fluid is flammable. Upon doing research numerous Nissan Murano owners have encountered the same defect. Repair cost is between $400-500. If the manifold were to get hot enough and power steering fluid came into contact it is a fire hazard.
10 minutes after vehicle was parked, with doors locked and windows rolled up, my wife was alerted by a passerby that her car was on fire. Fire started in the forward passenger compartment and spread thru the passenger compartment very rapidly. Vehicle was a total loss. Vehicle had no aftermarket work and had not been involved in any accidents. All service work was performed by a certified Nissan dealer on schedule. Progressive insurance investigated and found owner not to be at fault (claim #11114682 was paid). I have requested Nissans internal investigation root cause analysis report to determine cause of fire, but they will not release the information to me. I feel they have something to hide . Nissan poc trish page 615 725 7052 she would not pass me up the chain at Nissan so that I could speak to someone other than her. Concern is there maybe other incidences of Nissan Murano fires that are not being reported. I was lucky that the fire occurred outside the home and not in the garage at my house where it is always parked.
While driving at approx. 45 miles per hours the sun driver's side sun visor suddenly lowered from the "up" position, completely blocking my view of the road in front of me. This problem persisted intermittently then the visor would not stay in the "up" position at all. I had to remove the visor in order to see, but I am then blinded by the sun at times creating an equally dangerous situation. I have read several online forums and this is an ongoing issue that needs to be fixed. There is no fix for the visor, just a forced replacement at $300. 00.
The sun visor in my Nissan Murano flips down and does not stay up while driving. This is a safety hazard as it suddenly drops down on slightest of bumps and blocks the visibility.
I was driving on the highway at 50mph and all of a sudden Murano lost acceleration, gas pedal wasn't working at all. Some how I pulled over and turn ignition off and back on and it worked fine. Now when is a stop and go situation it does the same thing won't accelerate until like 5 seconds later and in a very dangerous way. I heard lots of people having the same problems and it's life treatning situation.
The door lock on the front passenger door may or may not lock or unlock with the key remote or the door lock buttons on the outside latch and inside door. This becomes a safety issue while driving, as I like to keep my doors locked in the event of an attempted carjacking.
1. The right front door lock is not locking/unlocking with the remote nor either of the interior buttons. 2. The rear hatch is not locking/unlocking also. This is a huge safety issues. Being unable to open the right front door without leaning over from the driver's seat or using the key can make it nearly impossible to enter or exit the vehicle in an emergency. Having researched this online, this is an ongoing issue with the Nissan and infinity suvs. Nissan is aware of the issue simply because of the availability of the replacement parts being instock at the dealerships. Nissan needs to take responsibilty for the safety of owners and users of their products. There should be a notice sent to their dealers and, when the locking mechanism fails, needs to be replaced by Nissan at their expense.
Driver side sun visor failed. Will not retract and stay up.
A few days before Aug 31st the Murano started slipping gears. It was taken to a dealership on Aug 31st where the error code, stepper code, came up which is part of the cvt, the transmission. They replaced the transmission, under extended warranty and this did not fix the problem. They replaced the valve body again, the control module, and the wire harness, none of which has fixed the problem. We are 10 weeks in the shop and they cannot find the problem. A Nissan engineer is now coming out to look at it wanting to replace the valve body for the third time. They have replaced this now going on three times with new parts and it is not fixing the problem. This car is not a safe car to drive anymore. The dealership told me last week that we would have resolution, whether this was a buyback or whatever by last Friday. Last Friday they called and now they are now flying in an engineer, this is not a resolution. I do not feel safe driving this vehicle especially with two small children. The vehicle has been in the shop for going on 10 weeks now and I feel the dealership and Nissan are doing everything they can not to resolve the problem. This needs to be taken care of.
As I am driving, our vehicle will auto break, bow up and lose acceleration causing traffic following behind me to either break or get into the other lane to keep from hitting me. This happens at low levels of speed and at high levels of speed. This will also happen should I be trying to cross traffic as well. I am in fear for the safety of my family and kids as well as the safety of other drivers on the road for they may not be able to get stopped in time. This is a major safety issue which will or could be the cause of 1 or more fatalities.
This complaint regards the sunvisors on the driver's side of a 2006 Nissan Murano. The current sunvisor fails to stay up (parallel with vehicle roof) or canted. It falls constantly, obstructing the view of the roadway for drivers. Additionally, the configuration of the visor is such that it is likely to fall when driver's need their vision the most-- upon hitting uneven or rocky pavement, striking debris in the road, or making necessary evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident. This problem appears to be widespread with Nissan Muranos, as several forums discussing the issue are visible on the internet. One such forum is Nissanmurano. Org. The site lists approximately eleven pages of car owners and other individuals discussing the same problem. The current remedy suggested by Nissan is a $500 replacement visor, which is not covered by extended warranty. This figure seems unreasonable for the severity of the problem, its widespread occurrence, and the potential consequences of having an internal vehicle accessory fall over the eyes of the driver at any moment.
2 tpms sensors failed and cost $285 to replace. Batteries failed in each sensor requiring a full replacement of each unit. Tire pressure light would come on after 10 miles, leading the driver to believe that there was a pressure problem when there really was not an issue, which could create a safety concern.
The sun visor drops down and blocks view while driving. The visor will not stay up and so we have to hold it while driving.
Transmission failure and driver seat failure.
While driving on the toll road in houston, my vehicle lost speed and power going up an overpass, and luckily I was able to pull off to the shoulder before complete loss of power. The check engine light came on prior to this event. I was able to crank the engine but it would not start. My passenger needed medical assistance due to the heat (100 degrees), and my vehicle had to be towed to the Nissan dealer. This dealer indicated a dtcode p0340, cam sensor and crank sensor failure, and repairs totaled $765. 93. Researching this failure, I learned that there was an earlier recall of my exact vehicle for this failure, but my VIN was not included in the recall. After searching the internet, I discovered many, many other owners of 2003 Muranos with VIN numbers outside of the recall are experiencing the exact same problem as the recall. . Read more...
Driving on I-79 - light out - many others on road - no debris - tire blew out - sensor on and immediate blowout - no prior problems and had not run over anything prior. Nissan terribly unresponsive. Had to proactively call them 10-20 times. 1st person couldn't converse in english - gave me false information. Supervisor was constantly unavailable and never returned calls. Ultimately they said they didn't have similar reports. I don't believe them. Tire company said saw this problem many times - says the tire sensor corroded and fell into the tire which sprang the leak. Found no other damage to tire. Could have died on that highway. Most people wouldn't take the time to write this so I'm doing it for them. Shame on the company for doing nothing to research it further. Wouldn't even pay for the tire.
Airbag light flashing, both front door locks quit working at the same time along with the hatch lock that gets stuck, now the sun visor on drivers side is falling down.
I hate to complain and I've never filed a complaint before, but some type of motion has to be enforced with the Nissan Murano line of vehicles. Â there are so many issues with this vehicle that I have chosen to list the most hazardous and frustrating ones. Â the first issue was recalled. Â months before a recall was finally enforced, I almost got severely hurt at a stoplight when the air exhaust hose slipped off on my 2007 Nissan Murano, which caused it to completely stop in the middle of driving through the stoplight. Â the second issue will also cause near death experiences/deaths if a recall is not enforced. Â my driver side seat and 1,000s of others' driver side seats have a collapsed rear bracket which causes the seat to move back in forth. Â this is extremely dangerous! â a rear-end collision could be just as fatal as a head on collision due to the fact that the seat will move forward and throw the driver into the air bag breaking their neck and various other fatal injuries to graphic to list. Â I foresee a huge lawsuit as Nissan has been alerted of this issue many times and refuses to cover it, even for vehicles still under warranty. Â instead, they charge on average $1,200 to fix it. Â if you would like to simulate the issue, you are more than welcome to use my Murano with a crash test dummy and crash it into a wall. Â the most nerve wrecking issue is the breaks. Â no matter what kind of brakes you have installed or who installs them (even the dealer), they still squeak extremely loud. Â once again, Nissan knows about this as a common problem, but their response in lamen terms is, 'sorry, that you were stupid enough to pay 38k for a hunk of junk. ' â I have so many other issues with this vehicle that I lay awake at night and pray that it will get stolen, a major hail storm, or I win the lottery so I can get rid of it as I still owe on it and I'm upside down on trade value. Â this is my 1st and last Nissan. Â I'm going back to gm for better quality and customer satisfaction.
The driver side sunvisor suddenly fell down striking my wife in the fore head and causing her to run off the roadway. She was safely able to re-enter the roadway without over correcting and having an accident. This has happened several times, finally to the point that I have removed the sunvisor. I have twin seven year olds with autism that ride in this vehicle several times a week. I have read of several other owners of Murano's with the same issue. As a police officer and paramedic this is a safety issue that the manufacturer needs to address, before someone is seriously injured.
The power locks randomly don't work using the fob or inside auto lock button. They can be used manually, but are not always functional using the "power" function.
Stop all of a sudden when driving it, very dangerous if driving on highway. Brought to body shop and checked, cam sensor problem should have a recall. Call Nissan, said VIN number doesn't show any recall. Cost 300 to fix, problem may happen again. Nissan very unresponsible!.
The car was driven on the high way at 50 mph, when it started to decelerate and would only go over a max speed of 30 mph. Even with acceleration, the car would not go over 30 mph. It was driven to the auto repair shop and they declared the transmission had failed and the engine was faulty as well. This car has given us so many problems. This is the third time it had stalled on the highway almost causing accidents and presenting a dangerous situation for my family! this problem needs to be corrected!!!!!!!!! something must be done!.
During stop and go traffic, I step on the gas pedal and the car does not move for a few seconds then suddenly the car jerks forward. This happend continiously over the past month. I would like this issue to be investigated and recalled, as this is a big safety concern.
2005 Nissan Murano sun visor on the driver's seat falling off suddenly and blocking driver vision.
When driving 2 hours or more on highway and when entering in stop and go traffic , engine does not respond to the gas pedal for 3-5 seconds and then it darts forward. This happened 4 or more times in one occurrence. Nissan Murano se 2003 awd. I bought 1 month ago at 121000 mile.
Car would not drive when in drive and now the transfer case is out.
Driver side sun visor failure.
My husband noticed around 65,000 miles that the sun visor on the driver side doesn't stay up. It happens all the time. Probably every five minutes of driving. If the road is bumpy, forget it. It just slams down, affecting my line of sight. My father is terrified to drive my car, because of it. All I can do is flip back up and turn it to a slight angle. Paying 300 dollars for a new visor is unrealistic. Every Nissan forum says they just break again. I'm thinking of buying a different car, because of it.
When driving my Nissan Murano especially on hot days/in stop & go traffic, the vehicle fails to respond to the depression of the accelerator. When it happens (~1x/week), the vehicle will be at a complete stop & not begin to accelerate after depressing the accelerator until around 3k rpms. The problem is resolved by cycling the vehicle off then on, given that the driving conditions don't remain in the form which appeared to initiate the incident. In one instance (and only once), the vehicle was left running, with the a/c on while I made a quick run into a convienence store. After backing out of the parking space without a problem, the vehicle exhibited it's slight hesitation while in drive, but then lurched forward at ~3k rpms, and acquired the desired speed and manuevers. After waiting at the light just outside of the parking lot, the vehicle would not respond to the depression of the accelerator in the form of movement. That is, the engine would rev to as much as 5k rpms, but not move more the . 5-1mph. The usual cycling of the engine off & then on, would not resolve the problem. The next destination was nearby (1mi. ) & downhill, so I was able to coast, in neutral, to that location whilst being honked at & nearly rear-ended by oncoming traffic. After the vehicle had sat at that location for ~3hrs, there were no other problems of the like. It is worth mentioning the hesitation problem was not experienced for the remainder of the day. However, it wasn't too long before the original problem returned. No check engine light, no other mechanical issues I have noticed. No correlations other than that of temperature and/or stop and go traffic. Another important note is that those correlations are not dependent upon each other; the problem can/does occur in the absence of either. However, it is typically not seen without at least one of those factors present.
This was the third time the air intake hose fell off while the car was in motion causing the engine to instantly stall leaving the car disabled with no steering control. The first two times were in residential areas, but the third time was on a heavily traveled road at night causing a serious and extremely dangerous situation. The car was almost struck several times while I was removing my toddler from the backseat of the disabled car. Each of the three times the car has stalled I brought the car to Nissan the next day and they said they previously replaced a different recall part in the air intake system, but the way the car was designed made the other end of the air intake hose likely to fall off due to vibration. They showed me how removing the air filter during routine maintenance can loosen the air intake hose, even when the clamp is tightened. I asked them to fix this problem and they said there was nothing they could do, it was just the way the hose was designed. I cannot imagine what could have happened if I had taken the highway home and the car had stalled at higher speeds. The suggested fix from Nissan was to tighten the hose clamps each time the car is used, but it has happened three times now supposedly after the clamps were tightened by Nissan service mechanics. This seems to be a serious defect and I am grateful that nobody hit us while the car was stalled. After three times, I am too scared to ever drive the car again.
Like everyone else here my 2005 Nissan Murano sun visor driver's side won't stay up and it flops down. I agree that this is a very serious safety issue. I refuse to pay $500 to have a defect originally from Nissan repaired properly. The visor is totally loose and won't stay up nor will it stay put to block the sun since it's so loose that it simply flops straight down. I have resorted to using duck tape to tape it in the up position so it doesn't flop down when I hit a bump traveling down the road at 70+ mph. It's a serious safety issue and I'm mad as *** about it. The passenger side has a similar problem but it's not as bad - probably just due to less usage on the passenger side.
I have a 2003 Nissan Murano. At approximately 81,000 miles I noticed a burning oil smell after driving. I had the car checked and the transfer case was out of oil. The service dept. Resealed the transfer case under extended warranty. At about 96,000 miles I had the vehicle checked out before end of warranty and again the transfer case leaked out the oil and I had service on transfer case. The seals had to be redone, also under extended warranty. I have the car in now for routine service with transmission fluid flush and fill and because I am getting a strange ticking noise when accelerating. Notified that cvt fluid leaking onto outside of transfer case. Needs transmission seal redone. Over $2000. I am getting the seal redone under transmission 120,000 warranty from Nissan. Dealership says I should get the transfer case seals redone but they are not covered under the transmission warranty and I cannot afford the close to $2000 extra this would cost. Seems that the seals should last more than 8,000 miles as they seemed too after buying the vehicle new and not replacing them until after 50,000 miles. After reading many complaints about a pressure valve and other transmission issues I believe the transmission should be replaced as I am very concerned that just replacing the transmission forward seal(?) will not correct the leaking problems with the transmission transfer case and that the transmission will "go out" after the factory warranty. I believe that there is a problem with the transfer case/transmission in this year/model of vehicle and that Nissan knows this. There should be a recall.
The driver side sun visor will fall down from any postion and block visabily out of the windshield. It will also scare the driver causing hands to leave the steering wheel in self preservation and to move the visor out of the viewing area. This does not happen all of the time. So each time it does happen iit is a shock to the driver. There is no aftermarket repair. The dealer wants in excess of $300 to replace it. There is no guarentee that the replacement will not perform as the original. I have tried to velcro the visor in the up position but velcro will not stick to the head liner very well. Also I need the visor in more than just an up or down position.
Failure of door locking mechanism was first noticed when fuel filler door would not open; remote key recycled several times and fuel-filler door opened. Next time, several months later, the right passenger door would not open by passenger. Again, remote key recycled several times and door opened. Yesterday, when trying to unlock the trunk lid the door-lock/unlock mechanism failed and trunk lid and right front passenger door were both impossible to open. After many attempts using both the remote keypad and using the manual key method the doors were finally unlocked. To test the system , the doors were locked using the manual key and both the trunk lid and the right front passenger doors remained unlocked. The system is unreliable for security purposes and potentially life-threatening in case the passengers needed to egress the vehicle quickly in case of being stalled on railroad tracks, fire or in a water submersion situation.
Automatic left side door lock does not function automatically. Front right side and left rear door locks only work intermittently. I have been told door actuators need to be replaced. Problem cannot be fixed without complete replacement. This appears to be a problem either with faulty design or production. Inability to automatically lock doors from the inside could present safety problem.
Nissan Murano 2004 -- sun visor on drivers side is not staying up. As I am driving ( sometimes with my kids) the sun visor drops down blocking my view. This is a big safety issue and I'm surprised no one has been injured or sued Nissan for this. I have noticed many other people have the same complaint. The dealer wants $400. 00 to put in a new one -- when this should never happen.
On 08/10/2010 we paid our local Nissan dealer $470. 93 to repair the driver side door lock. Before the repair the driver's door we could not open with the key fob or with the interior manual lock. We had to use the door key. Now all the other doors are acting the same way. They do not unlock or lock with the key fob or interior manual lock. Note: there is only one key hole on the exterior of the car. This is a huge safety issue. Numerous times we have had children in the back seat that we can't get out of the car without having to climb over and manually switching the door from locked to unlocked. Also, when we think the door is locked it sometimes isn't, which is another safety issue. Nissan wants us to pay to have each door fixed. I have never had a car that I couldn't get in or couldn't get out of. I believe this is a huge safety issue and would like a recall on this car and have Nissan reimburse me for the driver door lock that I already paid.
Floppy sun visors 2006 Nissan Murano. Both sun visors will no longer remain in place. They impair/block sight and are very distracting. This makes it very unsafe to drive as you have to keep fighting with the visors to move them out of the way so you can see. Many, many other Murano drivers have the same problem. This is clearly a problem Nissan needs to address/recall before major accidents occur because you can't keep both hands on the wheel since you have to keep moving the floppy visor out of the way so you can see. Not being able to have a clear line of sight with a visor constantly in your way is a serious problem. I have tried to find a solution for this problem but nothing seems to work. It is a manufactoring/design malfunction. This problem is just as bad as people driving while on their cell phones. Dangerous.
My 2004 Nissan Murano has a defective driver-side sun visor problem. It keeps falling down and will also not stay up. This is a safety issue because when I am driving the vehicle, the visor will flop down without warning and cause me to become distracted, which could cause me to have an accident. Also, if I put it down, it will not stay in the position I place it in. I believe this is a defective part in the Nissan Murano. I have noticed on the internet that many people have been complaining about this issue and that Nissan refuses to cover this under warranty or under a recall. There was even a Nissan auto technician who anonymously admitted that this was a mechanical failure because he has to replace the visor part on many vehicles he has worked on. Can you do anything about this?.
The differential/cvt transfer case is defective. Which requires you to have to replace the awd system at a cost of $4-6000. It also cause the car to have steering problems as well. This issue also causes the vehicle to burn a significant amount of fuel which require premium gas. I have read numerous complaints on the web about the same problems other people are having. This causes unnessecary financial hardship as most people are still paying a car loan on this vehicle.
2005 Nissan Murano - drivers side sun visor is broken and will not stay in the up position. Falls suddenly and completely blocks vision of the road. I have almost been in several accidents due to this issue. Nissan says it is not a warranty issue.
I own a 2005 Nissan Murano and have had numerous "incidents" regarding a continuling problem with the driver's side sun visor. The mechanism that holds the visor upright and in an angle position to block the sun is not working and repeatedly drops and droops rather unexpectedly to the point of hindering my ability of driving safely. Numerous times while driving on the highway the visor drops and blocks my view several times this has nearly caused an accident. I have talked to the Nissan dealer and they say it is not a safety issue, there is no recall infomation and I must replace on my own expense regardless if I have a warranty. I have contacted the dealer I purchased the vehicle from and have not had any solutions other than to pay over $500 to fix the problem. I find this outrageous and danderous. An online search yeilds a large number of other Murano owners with the same problem.
Engine goes to idle. Will not respond to accelerator imput until ignation is turned on and then back on. Seems to be a random event.
2005 Nissan Murano driver sun visor willl not stay up, especially in cold or wet weather posing a driver view obstruction safety issue.
Driving is the event leading to the failure. Driver's side sun visor will not stay in the up position and falls down in front of drivers eyes without warning or hesitation. This will lead to accident due to the driver losing eye contact with traffic and the road.
This is regarding a 2007 Nissan Murano. The sun visor on the drivers side does not lock in the up position. This causes it to fall donw into the field of view and is a definate safety issue especially when driving on rough roads as it can block you vision without any warning. Manufacturer and dealers will not cover this repair once out of warrenty and it costs upwards of $400 to do the repair. I have investigated this and have even heard from dealers that this is a common occurance with these vehicles all the way back to 2003. This should definately be a saftey recall as it could cause an unexpected accident.
Driver-side sun visor will not stay in place. It is loose and will drop down while driving, blocking visibility.
Just over two years ago the automatic driver's side door lock became unreliable. There are times when the door must be manually locked or unlocked. The situation seems to be exacerbated by heat and direct sunlight on the driver's side door. My concern is that not knowing if the door is locked or unlocked creates a safety hazard both while driving and in the event of a need for quick exit from the vehicle. Simply looking at the manual locking switch can be deceptive because it will move into the locked position without fully engaging the lock. For safety reasons I prefer to drive with the doors locked. Having a secure environment is paramount in certain neighborhoods. If anyone can simply open the door to gain access, there is a significant increased risk of carjacking, injury, theft, etc. Having the doors lock correctly is a basic safety precaution. Additionally, in emergencies it's important to be able to unlock doors quickly. In this automated age we tend to rely on the automated systems of our vehicles and it's unfamiliar to resort to the manual locking system, which as I explained above can be deceptive. I can easily understand how some people would be confused how unlock a door using the manual level in an emergency. In emergencies every second counts. The locking/unlocking solenoid malfunctioning is clearly a high risk in emergency scenarios. The dealer charges an average of $1600 to have all the solenoids replaced which amounts to making the owner pay for a known safety issue. At this price many will forgo getting the problem fixed, putting their family members at risk with the above mishap examples. Nissan should recall the affected vehicles and repair this safety issue.
Driver's sun visor will not stay up. Will drop down and obscure vision at any moment. Passenger sun visor is now doing the same thing. Will not stay up, drops down without notice.
I am writing to inform you of my problems occurring with my 2005 Nissan Murano sl VIN# jn8az08wx5w400904. I purchased my car from your dealership in 2005 and have gone for all of my service needs to your facility. There have been 3 different instances in which I have taken my car into your service department for issues/problems with the transfer case / cvt unit. Today January 5,2012, I called Nissan services regarding the same issue again with my transfer case and was informed to bring it into your service department. I brought the car in and informed the front desk of the problem. Four hours later, I was informed that yes the transfer case was cracked but it would not be repaired because it was not the same problem from before and because I was out of warranty. I have 3 seperate service orders from the other repairs from your department that clearly state what the issue/problem was "the transfer case was replaced due to damage". I have been a loyal customer for the past 7 years and am disappointed in the service received regarding a known ongoing issue with the cvt / transfer case of the Murano, and feel that this problem should be covered and resolved at no cost to me. Attached please find the 3 service order numbers I am refering to regarding repairs to the cvt / transfer case 11/17/08 - nics129368 5/14/09 - 6004693-1 10/28/10 - 6026212-3.
The sun visor on the drivers side of my 06 Nissan Murano falls down constantly blocking my view when I am driving. It has been replaced once but now the replacement has been doing the same thing. Sometimes it will stay up for half an hour and then other times it falls every 5 minutes.
Approx. 3 weeks ago. While traveling home my 2005 Nissan Murano would just come to a complete stop, without warning. I wait about 5 minutes and it would start up again. Then last week 6/19 while traveling on a hwy 9a south it did it again while going a speed of 65, then on 6/20. It did the same exact thing 5 times. I took it into the coggin Nissan the same exact day. They have put on it on there diagnostic machine, was unable to determined the cause, so, they said that they would have to keep it until they determined the cause of the stalling.
When in traffic under appx 10 mph, you accelerate and it does nothing, then suddenly takes off. You don't know when it is going to happen. It is very random and once it starts doing it, it keeps doing it until you stop the engine and restart the car. I have to pull out on a busy street in the afternoon, and have almost been hit. I have taken it to two Nissan dealerships and all they do is say it is a vacuum line. They said I needed new motor mounts to keep the engine stable so that they won't get loose. I had them replaced and it did not fix the problem. The problem does not throw an error code, so no one, including a very reputable auto repair garage, can fix it. We have even started guessing what the problem might be, ie, fuel injectors - had them cleaned - no change. I have now spent almost $3k and I still have the same problem. Nissan tells me that there is a recall, but not for my serial number. I have been dealing with this since about may.
I ran off the left side of a mountain road hitting a large tree with the driver's door, then continued down the hill another ~20 feet slamming into a boulder. When I hit the tree, the driver's door window broke as well as the driver's side rear door. The door was jammed shut. The Nissan was equipped with front side impact airbags and both front and rear head protection airbags. None were deployed. When I hit the boulder, the front passenger airbag deployed, but the driver's front airbag failed to deploy. The pre-tensioner on the driver's seatbelt did not latch resulting in me hitting my upper chest and lower jaw on the steering wheel since the airbag did not deploy. The fuel cut-off device also failed to activate and shut off the engine. After almost a minute, I turned off the engine with the key. I had been knocked unconscious for several seconds. The 2004 Nissan Murano sustained over $25,000 in damage which resulted in it being totaled by my insurance company. The airbag light would illuminate briefly when starting the car prior to the accident. So there was no indication of an airbag malfunction. There was substantial damage to the driver's side of the vehicle as well as the front and undercarriage. My injuries were limited to bruises to my chest and lower jaw. The accident also greatly aggravated a prior injury to my upper back. When I went to go remove my personal belongings from the vehicle, I found that the jack, mounted in the rear floor had come completely out.
Idler pulley and bracket design default. I just took my car in after an all of the sudden clanging noise - at 35,000 miles. I was told by authorized dealership that I required a new idler pulley and bracket. Apparently it was broken. I believe this is a design default and should be looked into. I have heard many people complaining of this same thing. I ended up paying $99 for labor, $69. 50 for the pulley, and $25 for the bracket. This part failing at 35,000 miles is unacceptable.
Alternator adjusting bracket - I had to have my 2004 Nissan Murano serviced due to a coolant leak that I noticed. When looking at the vehicle, entire underbody was filled with coolant and no coolant remained in the reservoir. The dealer serviced the vehicle and documented the issue as the alternator adjusting bracket having broken and rupturing the hose, fan pulley and the power steering belt being negatively impacted. After speaking with the service tech. , there have been multiple times that he has seen this issue. With an obvious repeating issue in the vehicles, the severity of damage to the vehicle (bracket breaks, alternator loosens in hood and damages surrounding mechanisms, or occupants (operation of vehicle not ideal with bracket broken, impacting surrounding mechanisms (power steering belt, fan, alternator, coolant system) that could result, and the customer dissatisfaction of having this issue and incurring the costs to repair.
Dear sir, we own a 2004 Nissan Murano that we bought new in may of 2004. The vehicle has performed great over the years; however, we do have one very important safety issue with the Nissan Murano which is the driver's side sun visor. As you are driving, the sunvisor will drop down blocking the view of the roadway. I have also spoken with another Nissan Murano owner who stated that she has experienced the same problem. Also, I ran an internet search for "problems with a Nissan Murano sunvisor" and discovered numerous blogs submitted by individuals who have experienced the exact same problem with their Nissan Muranos. I strongly feel that this issue needs to be investigated before someone is very seriously injured or perhaps killed because they were unable to see the roadway.
The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Murano. While driving 15 mph through a puddle of any size, water splashes onto the front windshield. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of failure and repair the vehicle. The current mileage is 500 and failure mileage was 10,000.
Puncture of fuel tank while driving on highway presumably due to an object on road.
I hit a pot hole around Dec 2005. My vehicle received extensive damage. I will like for you to investigate the damages, was this cause by the pot hole, or vehicle was not check appropriately. There has been certain recalls on my vehicle which has made me wonder.
My driver's side sun visor would not remain in the up position. When vehicle went in @ 30 days or so, I reported this with some other minor needed repairs. It was the dealership on pearl rd. , route 42 in brunswick that also handled Subaru's. It was originally a leased vehicle under allied leasing. I reported problem again at approximately 24 months. Then - I reported it again when car went in for service in January of 2011. Visor no longer adjustable - won't remain in up position - flops down in front of your eye blocking vision constantly. Replacement estimate from dealer $300-$400 for part even if we install ourselves! important - repeating problem back to 1996 sentras. Many complaints found on the internet! Nissan refused to repair under warranty as well as post warranty! you are either trying to see underneath it. . . Swing it to the side out of the way - but then your eyes have no protection against blinding sunlight! not only dangerous - but uncomfortable and inconvenient. I would have no problem paying if visor was reasonably priced - but Nissan prices it obscenely!.
Lower mpg realized (20%) than stated on vehicle when bought. Actual mpg is 16 city-20 highway. Complaint to dealer resulted in no satisfaction.
2010 Nissan Murano seat problems. The consumer stated the vehicle did no come equipped with a front passenger lumbar support. To compensate, the consumer had to use a lumbar back support made of foam rubber. The back support fits between his back and the back of the front seat. The consumer stated the air bag system recognized the back support as a child restraint seat and therefore deactivated the front seat air bag and activated the warning light. The dealer informed the consumer the back support was an unauthorized object and was the cause of the air bag deactivation. The dealer refused responsibility and advised the consumer to read the manual. The Nissan manual advised against placing additional objects on the seat.
