1 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2019

While driving on the freeway or the city street, the car started to jerk and then suddenly cut off and lose power. This has happened at least five times at normal highway and freeway speeds in a straight forward motion. While on the freeway, I was able to glide over to stop the car and restart it. The car starts right back up and is drivable. The last time was on the city street, I was going about 35-40mph and the car again jerks and the engine cuts off and looses power. However, this time the steering wheel locked up preventing me to get over. I had to stop the car by breaking directly in the lane nearly causing cars to slam into me. Again, once I come to a complete stop and put the car in park I am able to start the engine and drive again. After this first happened, I took my car in for a tune-up, oil change, and a diagnostic test but nothing read as an error. I do not drive far distances just mainly around town and have received regular maintenance on my vehicle. I am now afraid to drive my car because the lose of power does not happen consistently but is very dangerous when it does and can definitely cause an accident/injury/death if someone is driving too close. I looked up recalls and found recall10v517000. It says there was a recall for 2004-2006 Nissan Pathfinders but my VIN # is not excepted. Please look into this for this matter because I do not feel safe for myself and others while driving.

2 Steering problem

Failure Date: 02/25/2018

I was driving on hwy and I went to go around a curve and my steering wheel locked up I went off the road and came to a stop looking up at the bridge. When I went off the road my truck hit a hill (it hit around by my radiator) my truck then flipped and then hit another hill (hit by my radiator again) and came to a stop. My airbag didnt not deploy until my truck stop moving. And my seat belt did not lock me in place. I was slung around my front seat. I had to try to hold myself in my seat with my legs (pushing up on my steering wheel) I hit my head on my steering wheel, my window and my roof. I have a cracked femur from my steering wheel. And 2 compressed disks in my back. . When I realized my truck wasnt turning into the curve I hit my brakes but it didnt do anything bc my tires came off the ground and when it stopped I was on the creek bank.

5 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/09/2015

Steering wheel all of a sudden became very difficult to turn regularly when driving/turning. Very difficult to turn in reverse. After doing some searching online it seems that their are several other vehicles recently experiencing the same issue. Please investigate this issue before someone gets hurt.

6 Steering problem

Failure Date: 04/21/2014

Car started rumbling very erratically at high speed. Had I not had good grip on wheel it would of been bad for my family or others. Glad it didn't fail completely leaving me powerless on highway. I believe this will result in deaths or serious accidents. Not to mention thousands in repairs. Had radiator replaced last year due till same problem. Something needs to be done. This always happens right outside if the extended warranty.

8 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2013

Our 2006 Nissan Pathfinder sits in the garage with very little use. We went to drive it Sunday November 10, 2013 when my husband noticed the steering wheel was moving side to side. Seems strange for a vehicle with such little use to have this kind of problem. Then I started looking up recalls but was not happy to see the same problem with other Pathfinder owners and yet no recall from Nissan. What is it gonna take for Nissan to react on the problem with the steering on the 2006 Pathfinders.

9 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2013

My wife was driving with my son and daughter on freeway doing 65mph when the truck began shaking all over scaring not only here but the children then the car began to smoke obstructing her vision in moderate traffic she had to pull to the side of freeway almost hitting the right side freeway divider further traumatizing her and my kids. Thankfully they made it safe. Hopefully it doesn't happen to any outher family's.

10 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2012

Steering wheel wobbles up and down and side to side as if it was loose. Searching the internet I found many complaints up to the point where steering becomes disabled causing accidents. Regardless of my findings in the internet, there are no recalls from Nissan to address this issue.

11 Steering problem

12 Steering problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2012

Vehicle shakes and transmission slipped when driving. Dangerous in traffic. Took to amoco and told the transmission fluid is mixing with the radiator and both failed. Cost over $4,000 dollars to fix or it is utterly useless - just over 82k miles. Investigation shows dangerous trend for safety and complete product defect, with years of foreknowledge by Nissan. Driving is dangerous since the vehicle doesn't accelerate consistently and steering violently shakes.

13 Steering problem

Failure Date: 05/31/2012

Soon after purchase when I was traveling between 45 and 55 miles per hour it would feel as if the wheels had locked up but the car was still moving. This problemed evolved until it would feel as if you were traveling over railroad tracks, then it started shuddering at anywhere between 45 and 60 miles per hour. Now it actually loses speed until it falls down to about 30 and then it will kick back into gear and I can speed up again. This has happened several times while driving on the interstate. Took it the dealer when I first started having problems a year ago and they could not duplicate the problem and said that there was nothing wrong with the car. Took it back today and now they say it is a known problem with this particular model due to a design flaw. This car should have been recalled from the beginning. Lemon law should apply.

14 Steering problem

Failure Date: 07/13/2011

I just had my car serviced for a new transmission even though the car is only a 2006 patherfinder le. Thankfully it was under warranty, but while it was in there they suggested taking a look at the shaky loose steering wheel. I knew there had been problems with it since you could wiggle it in all directions. They informed me if I don't repair it that after awhile I will lose steering in the car. $1,200 later it is fixed, but with so many of these complaints shouldn't this be seriously looked at by Nissan as a recall??????.

15 Steering problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2008

Steering wheel was difficult to turn. This made steering difficult. Wheel would not return to straight position with out help. I think this was a safety issue. Took SUV to dealer who replaced the steering col. Nissan did not pay any of the repair cost because SUV had 43, 000 miles. I kept the old parts just to prove problem. I thought that Nissan would pay some of the repair cost but they did not. They believed this was a normal wear. First one I have had! I have driven cars and pu trucks over 750,000 mile in the last 20 years. I think this is a safety issue. That needs to be repaired by Nissan. Does the manufacturer pay for these problems. Driving was un safe in my opinion. . . Please help before someone is injured of worse. . . . .
