The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated while driving approximately 5 mph, the fuel gauge failed to rise above three quarters of a tank after refueling to full capacity and the service engine soon light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician made the contact aware that recall NHTSA campaign number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline) was directly related to the failure that the vehicle was exhibiting. However, the vehicle was not repaired since the VIN was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.
Vehicle indicated fuel of about 1/4 tank and about 90 miles remaining. It will instantly drop to empty on the fuel tank and will show 0 miles remaining. This has occurred several times in the last couple weeks. Sometimes it is empty and sometimes it has fuel in it.
Starting last summer we initially noticed a problem with our gas gauge reading, but it seemed to go away. It is now happening frequently and almost caused an accident. We were in heavy traffic on a 4 lane and we thought we had enough gas, 1/4 tank?, but all of a sudden we ran out of gas. We were lucky that we were not hit by a semi truck. We fortunately were able to push it to the side of the road and wait for my son to come with a can of gas. We called dorschel Nissan in rochester and they agreed that it was a recall, we had went on your site and checked prior (10v075000). We scheduled an appointment. Now we received a call from them telling us that it is not covered, that it was a warranty extension item and that we are past the date?? wow, what customer service. I think this is a safety issue and that this is not a normal wear and tear item. They obviously have had problems with these sensors (80,000 recalls?) now the gas gauge is doing other things, saying we don't have any gas when we just filled up?.
The fuel gauge on our vehicle is not working properly resulting in the need to calculate mileage or risk running out of gas. Sometimes the fuel gauge will show that the tank has gas and sometimes it says the tank is empty. There is a recall on fuel gauges/systems for 2008 Nissan Pathfinders, however Nissan has reported that our 2008 Nissan Pathfinder was not affected by this recall (based on the VIN).
The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that the fuel gauge failed. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign id number: 10v075000 (fuel system, gasoline storage: auxiliary tank) and contacted the manufacturer who advised that the vehicle was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 80,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.
Pathfinder vehicles. The molded fuel tank shells can deform, causing the fuel sender float arm to contact an embossment molded into the tank shell causing the instrument panel fuel gauge to show that the vehicle has approximately one quarter tank when the fuel tank is empty. I have stalled in traffic three times . The vehicle loses all control of power steering, power brakes and ceases to move suddenly in the middle of the road. This is a very dangerous situation for myself and other motor vehicles. I have researches this common problem with Nissan and found numerous complaints on this exact same issue. I called Nissan to file a complaint and they stated there has been no recall issued for this very dangerous issue. I feel like Nissan is stalling in fixing this problem at a huge risk to its consumer.
I received a recall notice from Nissan for my 2008 Pathfinder due to a faulty fuel gauge. On Saturday 5/1/2010, I presented the vehicle to maroone Nissan in kendall for repairs. After 2 hours, the vehicle was returned to me with a receipt indicating that the problem was fixed. There was a strong gas odor when I started the car. I assumed that this was probably natural since the repairs were related to the fuel system. However, later that day, the check engine light came on. This was the first and only time that this light came on since I acquired the vehicle in April 2008. I decided that on Monday morning I will return the vehicle to Nissan. However, on Sunday around midday, my son took the vehicle to the service station to purchase gas. The next event that happened was alarming. All the gas that my son added to the vehicle leaked out on the ground. Apparently, the service technician somehow managed to create a hole somewhere in the fuel system/gas tank. The vehicle had to be towed to Nissan for repairs and the repairs are expected to occur on Monday 5/3/2010. This situation could have resulted in a serious accident or even death to my son. I do not know whether the individual who performed the repairs was a Nissan trained and certified technician or not. However, it is worthy of note that there is a serious deficiency in existence at the Nissan location. It is my hope and expectation that an investigation be made into the type and qualifications of the service personnel and the service advisor and their business practices at this location. I am convinced that these individuals were fully aware that they were returning to me a defective vehicle that could have had catastrophic consequences. I should also note that I have been very dissatisfied with previous service jobs at this location, and have always elected to drive approximately 30miles to the pembroke location although the kendall branch in only about 6 miles from home.
