1 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 01/25/2021

Electrical engine cooling fan failure assembly. Loud grinding noise on driver side fan which is an assembly of two fans in one unit. Widely available information on web points to wheel bearing failure inside the fan.

2 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 10/08/2020

The engine cooling fan part number 21481-3ja2e has failed twice in this vehicle. First time at 50,529 miles and again at 106,370.

3 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 06/03/2020

Noticed that a loud clacking/clunking noise was coming from the front of the hood when I pulled into garage. Noise seemed to only be apparent when a/c turned on. Brought car to dealer and it was determined that the cooling fan was defective. Seems like this is a very common problem that Nissan refuses to address. The Nissan Pathfinder needs to be recalled and have the cooling systems replaced.

4 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 02/12/2020

Tl the contact owns a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder. The contact stated that there was an abnormal rattling sound coming from the front of the vehicle while driving. The vehicle was taken to lynnes Nissan city (318 bloomfield Ave, bloomfield, NJ 07003), where the vehicle was diagnosed and the contact was informed that the cooling fan needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 47,400.

5 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 08/17/2019

My vehicle is financed through Nissan and I still have 10 months of the note left. I have recently been provided a diagnosis that my cooling fan assembly motor and bearings have failed and will need replacement. Many Nissan Pathfinder owners are posting similar issues with their cars. I have only approximately 68,000 miles on the car. Based on the number of complaints, there maybe an underlying problem with the part. I am provided a $1000 estimate to resolve this issue. I want you to take this complaint seriously and protect the vehicle owners.

6 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 05/08/2019

Cooling fan started making noises when ac or heat is at 58k. Sounds like the fan bearings are shot. I see multiple complaints on line for this. This problem should be resolved before the fan comes apart and takes out the radiator.

7 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2019

The car only has 22,000 miles and the center dual cooling fan has already started making a loud noise unfortunately as a 2015 these vehicles is out of warranty I have done research online and it seems that it's become a very common problem on these vehicle I don't understand why this has not being on recall yet multiple people are also complaining as they replace the part and it goes bad within months so it seems this is a engineering problem.

8 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 03/25/2019

Cooling fan on radiator vibrating when heat or ac turned on.

9 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 03/18/2019

Engine rattling, turned out to be a faulty radiator cooling fan. Needed to replace whole fan assembly after 50,000 miles. Intermittently brake lights will stay on when car is parked, draining the battery. Perhaps a brake relay switch. Also intermittently, the vehicle has severe issues accelerating. If going 40 mph, and attempt to accelerate, there is little to no response. From full stop, there is occasionally no response at all until releasing and reapplying the gas pedal. This is incredibly dangerous!.

10 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 02/23/2019

During normal operation, radiator cooling fan makes a buzzing noise when hvac system is turned on to any setting. Upon further inspection, passenger side radiator fan is off balance, causing vibration and buzzing sound. With vehicle turned off, fan blade was verified loss. The vehicle has 30,200 miles. During my research, I have noticed many similar issues with the same vehicle between 30,000 and 50,000 miles. With a background in automotive service and quality engineering, it is my opinion that the amount of vibration is significant enough to eventually contact the radiator or break loose, possibly causing a coolant leak or other underhood damage.

11 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2019

Cooling fan bearings have gone bad twice in 75000 miles. The first time it was still in warranty. This is the second time and it is a wide spread problem and Nissan needs to be responsible. Thanks.

12 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

Cooling fan failure.

13 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2019

The car began to shake violently, roar and make a very loud knocking noise. I had just started the engine and it was in my garage and stationary. I immediately turned the car off. Later that day, my husband started the car again without issue. He pulled out of our driveway and proceeded less than 100 yards down the road when the noise and shaking started again. I called the dealer who stated it was most likely the cooling fan (confirmed by diagnosis at same dealer) that needed to be replaced.

14 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 01/07/2019

Noticed a rattling coming from engine compartment towards the from of my vehicle when in the drive thru. Took it to the repair shop. Bearings in the radiator cooling fan have failed requiring replacement. Have been told by mechanic will cause catastrophic engine damage due to fan breaking apart and pieces going into engine. Searching online shows this is a wide spread problem happening at 30-70k miles on these vehicles.

15 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2018

The cooling/radiator fan makes a rattling noise when the a/c is on, this started after the car reached 60,000 miles. Seems like a common thing on Pathfinders after reaching 60+ miles.

16 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 12/30/2018

Engine cooling fan makes loud noise when the ac/heat is turned on. And stops when the ac/heats turns off. Only 42,000 miles. Fan seems to wobble a bit.

17 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 11/19/2018

Cooling fan starting making noise and it appears to wobble when fan is running.

18 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 11/05/2018

My 2015 Nissan Pathfinder was purchased in Nov. 2018. It's been in the Nissan shop numerous times since Nov. We have issues with the transmission studdering/delayed acceleration. It cant be reproduced on demand so it's hard to diagnose. You have to let off the gas before it will go properly. Also, the cooling fan assembly has been replaced twice within 1 month with new parts . This 3rd time one of the fans will not continue to blow. I've read online that these 2 issues are very common with this vehicle. Disappointed doesn't even describe what I feel about this vehicle and having a dealership like gray daniels Ford in ms treat us the way they have does not help with the issues.

19 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 09/15/2018

Radiator cooling fan makes loud noise when the a/c is turned on and stops when the a/c is turned off. Only have 51,356 miles.

20 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 09/14/2018

Brakes make a clicking noise almost as if the pads are bouncing around at any speed with light brake application. Engine cooling fan is making a racket bouncing off of shroud when the heat or a/c is turned on. It is the passenger side fan. Just bought the vehicle used and only has 50k. Nice vehicle, just wish I didnt have to turn around and make repairs that should not be needed.

21 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 07/14/2018

At 32,000 miles, a loud noise was heard from the engine area when air conditioning was on. Upon investigation, the drivers side radiator fan was rubbing against the shroud. Complete cooling fan module needed to be replaced. Item was not covered under warranty, dealer repair was $1,000 so it was repaired at the local shop for $600. I had previously owned a 2013 Pathfinder and it had the exact same problem at 45,000 miles. Seems to me like a design issue.

22 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 05/04/2018

2015 Nissan Pathfinder, less than 40k miles, radiator cooling fan wobbles and makes loud/grinding noise (likes it's coming loose), in the middle of a long road trip. Potential engine overheat/seizure, dangerous to occupants in car.

23 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 04/01/2018

Radiator cooling fan is loose and makes a loud banging noise when the a/c is on. This started around the 38k mileage mark. This happens when stationary or when vehicle is in motion. Sometimes it'll go weeks without any problems. I've noticed that making sharp turns can set off the wobbling fan, causing weeks of annoying, loud, and quiet embarrassing blunder as if I were banging pots and pans together. If you turn a/c off, the noise stops. When inspecting the fan with a/c off, the fan is very wobbly and appears to bang against other parts resulting in the loud noise. Please help!!!.

24 Cooling Fan problem

Failure Date: 02/27/2018

The radiator cooling fan failed in my 2015 Nissan Pathfinder causing a loud knocking in the motor . Every Nissan dealership around columbia, SC does not have the part in stock due to it being on backorder. This is for both factory and aftermarket. No dealership knows when Nissan will even provide the factory part. With the excessive rate of Nissan & also infinity's dropping due to this same issue and the demand for this part, I believe it should be investigated ASAP. It is apparent that this is a faulty part on these model vehicles. This is a safety issue because this for certain can lead to larger problems. There are 3 Nissan locations not far. Please look at the statistics for this, their numbers will confirm my complaint.
