My husband was driving down the mountain ( we live on a mountain) with myself and two friends from KS in the vehicle with us. The entire system failed with us, with loss of even the steering, and it was terrifying for us. We couldn't even get the vehicle to shift to neutral to get off the road. Neighbor came jumped car several times and we finally got off the road and it had to be towed to Nissan. We did not even before this trust the Pathfinder to go down the scenic shorter road as that road is extremely steep and dangerous, however beautiful. If we had taken the pretty way down, we would have been killed. The tow truck driver even said he'd never seen a vehicle that lost complete power like this, had to bring a flatbed to get the vehicle. Note it was the 4th of July, 102 degrees outside. Nissan said they could not duplicate the error again on loss of power, however, they did show the alternator, battery, voltage regular and something else errored out, however, not the loss of power and the whole system malfunction. I have photos. At this point, this was the second of four major system failure occurrence's this has happened. My husband and friend in the vehicle are both manufacturing engineer's for large companies, boeing, and my husband retired from gestamp, and we did open up a consumer report case with Nissan and they failed to acknowledge this error. I also am a retired insurance agent with thirty two years of experience, after the first incident, we knew to start documenting and taking photo's that Nissan was not goign to acknowlege this major safety event. What started out buying our first new vehicle in setember of 2024 with only 12 miles on it, has been a complete nightmare and each time we are grateful we didn't get killed. The vehicle is at Nissan and Nissan is sending a head engineer on October 1st to look at it. The other incident that is major is from September 13th, that NHTSA report is 11765546. I am entering two more. This vehicle is unsafe.
Driver's side view mirror constantly shakes making impossible to use while driving. Makes you sick when looking at it. Unsafe to make lane change.
