The rear subframe of my Nissan Pathfinder had rusted through and needed to be replaced. According to the mechanic, the subframe was not properly primed by Nissan during manufacturing, which led to rusting from the top (which is not visible without removing the piece). A google search shows that this is increasingly common on Nissan Pathfinders around this model year. The part was on backorder due to high demand. It was explained to me that if this part were to brake off, it could pull off the brake line which could have been catastrophic. There were no lamps or messages when this part broke. The first sign of an issue was a loud noise from the rear of the car whenever we went over the slightest bump.

I was driving down a newly built road at 48 mph and all of a sudden it sounded like something was coming apart at the front right end of my vehicle. Everything sloped that way and then I was jerked to the right straight into a curb and then I hear a big boom. My psi went to 0 in my right front tire and I tried to steer left but I couldn't. My back end went into the air about 2-3 feet. I finally came to a stop on the side of the road about . 3 miles from where the issue started. I was lucky I did not veer into traffic because I could not control my vehicle. After gathering myself and calling the police I got out of my vehicle to find that my front right wheel assembly fell apart. The officer and I searched thoroughly to find that I did not hit anything. The bolt was missing from one of my control arms. My wheel was turned sideways going east and west instead of north and south. I had the vehicle towed to a Nissan dealer and it has been a nightmare. The tech that is not certified or does not have the devices to make the call if it was a technical failure says that he has been told by the regional corp rep to let him no if he can locate a part that seems to be the issue. The dealer tech couldn't see anything so the regional corp tech will not come and take a look at my vehicle. My insurance has deemed it a mechanical failure and they are waiting for the results of Nissans diagnostic test which is not happening because the regional rep won't come and take a look at the car. There is no body damage except for where the front right wheel was pushed into the front right quarter panel.

I have a 2020 Nissan Pathfinder sl with under 70k miles. I had an awful squeal start, upon stopping. I had a private shop say I needed brakes, pads and rotors. And this began the issue. This was in 22-23. It is currently oct 24, and I have had 3 sets of brakes pads and rotors. When this began the dealership told me my brakes were wearing and near needing replacement. So I had been alerted by them initially. There are zero warning lamps. Vehicle is available for inspection anytime.

Rear crossmember (k-frame) rusted through where dogbone links connect to rear control arms. Rest of vehicle is in excellent condition with little to no rust (surface at best), but rear cross member is completely rusted through at front right and left. This then lets the rear wheels loose toe and adjustment and causes skipping and alignment issues, potentially leading to a crash.

The vehicle swings left to right when cruising at about any speed. When the vehicle is pulling it does not swing or sway, however once the vehicle has got up to a desired speed and you try to maintain a steady speed it starts a “death wobble” which nearly cannot hold it on correct side of the road. You have to increase speed or reduce speed dramatically to regain control of the vehicle.

At speeds over 50 mph the car begins to wobble, have been told this is a common problem involing faulty trailing arm bushing/ rear arm bushing and bearing need to be replaced causing what is coommonly known as the death wobble. But lets up when you let up off the gas? to me this a major safety issue! that many have had this problem, that I have found on on line forums. . Why hasn't Nissan recalled this issue?.

Vehicle has a severe shimmy when letting off the accelerator, even at low speeds. Driving the vehicle on dry pavement on a straight stretch of highway: at around 55-60 mph, the back end of vehicle sways violently, with no warning or apparent cause. Driver feels that if speed is not immediately decreased, the vehicle would go out of control.
There is an excessive amount of rust on the vehicle including the wheel well, door jams, floor board, and frame. I was almost unable to receive a replacement windshield because the frame is rusting out. I purchased the vehicle in the north then moved south and the problem has grown worse. The compartment that is holding the spare tire under the vehicle is rusting out as well. This could potentially become a safety problem if the spare tire separates from its supports while operating on a roadway. Rust has been an ongoing problem with this vehicle with no specific start date nor end date.

Whenever I'm driving on the highway going about 65 mph and hit a bump my truck will rock violently back and forth. This is very dangerous. Also, the back end of truck is very wobbly if I drive over a hump. I'm afraid that the truck is going to rollover.
My airbag light and seatbelt light are on and the horn has stopped working. Frame and front suspension is making a horrible creaking sound and has been for months. Frame seems to be rotted … I’ve taken it to multiple places to have it looked at…. I’ve also seen other complaints on here of people having the same issue! this poses a huge safety risk! definitely needs a recall for both issues!.
While driving 2003 Nissan Pathfinder I hit pothole on a city street, heard loud bang, shortly after completely lost all braking abilities, upon bringing my vehicle home and examining I notice the right front strut housing had separated from frame snapping the brake line on the right front. Appears to be the same corrosion issue as the recall on the left front strut housing.
The rear suspension subframe is completely corroded and causes vehicle suspension parts to break off unannounced and causes vehicle to swerve severely and most likely is going to cause and accident or death, Nissan has been informed of this issue and refuses to address a proper repair.
Tl the contact owns a 1996 Nissan Pathfinder. While the vehicle was being inspected at the dmv, the mechanic informed the contact that the rear strut was rusting. Takata recall- the Nissan consumer affairs department was unwilling to assist me in repairing the affected vehicle. The closest service area is 98. 3 miles one way from my house in which they told me to pay for the cost of travel and time off of work out of my own pocket in order for the repairs to be completed. I asked if the service station could instead pick up my vehicle and provide me a loaner vehicle while the repairs were taking place in which they declined.
This vehicle was sold to me by an individual and it has so many problems it's unbelievable. Haven't been able to get it to pass emissions. Had the death wobble when I first got it. I'm extremely upset about this lemon I was. Sold. I'm a breast cancer patient and limited on income and I was really screwed over. Lost over 3000 dollars over this vehicle.
Nhtsa campaign number 11v244000 the strut housing corroded on the front drivers side wheel on my 2003 Nissan Pathfinder when I was driving down the highway. Had problem with steering being hard to turn I have found a recall on this problem but being that I live in texas they will not accept this recall.
The left front strut housing has corroded and is breaking away. This seems to be similar to the following recall:campaign id #: :r1107; NHTSA #11v-244. This vehicle, however, is not registered in designated "salt states" but owned and operated within 30 miles of 2 such states.
Rear hatch will not open; dealer invoice states "rear hatch struts are faulty". Discovered when attempted to load furniture in car; several attempts to no avail.
The contact owns a 1998 Nissan Pathfinder. When the vehicle was taken in for inspection, the front driver's side strut assembly was fractured and separated from the uni-body. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was determined that it was unable to be repaired. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 176,000.
