The driver states she has owned the vehicle over 10 years so she has not idea why this would be. The mileage on her vehicle is 133,332. Ar.

37 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 06/15/2009

About a month ago my wife went to fill up our 2006 Pathfinder and when she finished the gas gauge showed only half fill. She went to another gas station tried to fill it up but it only took another dollar. The next day I called up Nissan who said it was the sending unit in the gas tank and would be apx $600 to fix. I saw other logs of xterras having this problem and there was a recall. Our car was just past the 3 year warranty. If this were the only problem with this car I'd pay to get it fixed. But I've had another but problems with this vehicle. I've gone through 3 sets of rotors and I'm on my 3rd set of tires. The drivers side door lock broke and to be brought in twice, and the bose system has a cd stuck which I can't get out. This happened only after we owned it a few months.

38 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2008 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 05/22/2009

I bought the Pathfinder brand new in 2008. Shortly there after, when I inserted the key into the ignition, it makes no attempt of turning on. It has left me stranded on 7 occasions thus far. When I put the key in and turn it, it does nothing. I brought it in last year and they never found what was wrong with it. The warranty expires in two weeks and I do not want to be left with a problem once the warranty has expired. Luckily it has only left me stranded within 30 miles of home, but I am not looking forward to being stranded far from home. After a good 30-90 minutes, the car will eventually turn on. I have had to get a ride from my parents from the supermarket, had my husband leave work to pick me up from another town, walked to my parents's house because the SUV would not turn on. When I have spoken to the service people where I bought it, they have told me that if they cannot replicate the problem, they cannot fix it. It is very frustrating to insert key and not have car turn on. I am bringing car once again to dealer to see if problem can be resolved. I want the problem resolved prior to the warranty running out.

42 Unknown Or Other problem of the 1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/10/2008

I am writing in regards to an accident that occurred on 10/10/08 involving my 1997 Nissan Pathfinder VIN#[xxx] , and 5 other vehicles including my own 2nd car. All of which were parked on the same side of the street. The accident was caused by my Pathfinder's gas pedal failure which caused it to stay at the pressed down position while going at about 30mph, and I was unable to brake, thus hitting the other 5 cars. Thanks to the presence of these cars, my Pathfinder was able to stop and my safety spared. When I filed the claim with my insurance company geico (policy #[xxx] ), I specifically told them that this accident was not caused by my recklessness or lack of experience, but instead, it was due to mechanical failure. The claim #s related to the incidents are: [xxx] and [xxx] . Despite of that, my insurance premium nearly doubled. Unfortunately, when the vehicle was towed to the mechanic, they were unable to find fault in the gas pedal upon inspection. I had subsequently sold the car. The recent Toyota recalls have brought back memories of that incident. I believe the mechanical failure on the Pathfinder was extremely similar to those on the toyotas. I have seen my former vehicle parked around the neighborhood under the new ownership. I have noted down the license plate number should NHTSA decide to track it down for inspection. I am writing this letter to report the above problem that has plagued my former Nissan vehicle out of concern for the current owner's safety. In addition, its fallout has brought me great financial and mental burden. I hope and would really appreciate if NHTSA could take the time and look into this matter. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

43 Unknown Or Other problem of the 1998 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/27/2008

I have noticed that at speed of up to 70mph the backend of my truck starts to shimmy back and forth. If continued at that rate of speed the sway gets worse to the point where it feels like the truck is going to flip over. The only way to correct it is to let off the gas. I have noticed that I am not the only one that has had this problem. This seems like a mechanical defect in the design and should be considered by Nissan for a recall.

45 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2003 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/14/2007

To whom it may concern:Nissan is under a federal mandate to warranty the catalytic converter on my vehicle, 2003 Nissan Pathfinder, for 8 years or 80,000 miles. My truck currently (as of today) has under 39,000 miles. I did not find out until after the work had been completed that it should have been covered by Nissan. I am sure it has to do with the emissions and I am sure people would be very interested to know that Nissan is looking for any way they can get out of covering the defective parts that the government has required them to cover. I then contacted Nissan directly. After speaking with a man in india,I was sent to gloria in the us. My file number was 5793503. I was then contacted by ilysa who stated–it is our policy to only warranty service done at a Nissan dealership. Which makes sense. It would be difficult to warranty any service done at another shop. I am not asking them to cover the service. Only the part that was put on this truck originally in a Nissan plant is what the government has mandated that they cover. After getting no where with ilysa @ x57743 – I requested that my concern be passed to her supervisor. I received a very short phone call from kim(615. 725. 7761) who also said “that is our policy. At this point – I have had 2 people tell me they will not follow the federal mandate of covering this part. After getting nowhere with kim I asked to be put in touch with her supervisor. She absolutely refused and she was very animate in telling me she would not be escalating my issue. I told her that I,as a consumer and customer, was requesting to speak to a supervisor and she told me–and I quote “it doesn’t matter what you want. € –and again I quote “i don’t care if you are a client. € after exchanging some frustration and words she said “i will not escalate this call and further and hung up on me. I have since heard from ilysa at Nissan (x57743) on September 6, 2007 and she reiterated that they will do absolutely nothing.

46 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 10/04/2006

I am sick and tired of the terrible squealing/screeching/chirping noises evidently coming from under the hood of my brand new 2005 Nissan Pathfinder. The problem has been reported and supposedly been "fixed" by schaiers Nissan of long beach who said it was the "belts" that needed replacing, however, not long after that, the problem still persists. We have taken the SUV three times for the same problem, they have kept it twice overnight on two separate occasions. Fed up, we even attempted to trade the SUV in for another Pathfinder in the hopes of not having to deal with this issue any longer. The dealer was non-compliant and had nothing comparable or even worthwhile to offer. Why should we have to settle with driving a new vehicle that sounds like its an old vehicle without any solution to the problem or proper compensation for our troubles? it is no issue of ours that the SUV is making such horrible noises on its own. Nissan is aware of the problem, so why don't they fix it??!!.

47 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 08/01/2006

The transmission in the 2005 Nissan Pathfinder slips and jerks while driving at highway speeds. The slippage can cause the vehicle to rapidly decelerate in traffic increasing the likelihood of an accident. The rapid jerking of the vehicle can cause the vehicle to loose control on its own or frighten or disorient the driver causing the driver to loose control of the vehicle.

48 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2006 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 03/12/2006

I got this vehicle from Nissan dealership on 3-11-2006. This dealership did fraud. First of all they told me that the vehicle had no miles on it but it did had miles on it and plenty of them. They gave me the wrong car. The car they showed me that I was going to received is not the car I received. When I contact the dealership they said it was too late. This dealership is a complete liar. I don't understand how it gets business in the first place. I want to cancel the purchase of this car.

52 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 01/12/2004

Fluttering wind noise when driving. The noise starts out at 40 mph and gradually increases to a higher decibel range when speeding up to 70 mph. All the windows are wind up but this strange wind noise cannot be located. The noise is flapping so loud at 70 mph that it hurts my family's ears. Dealer stated it's an engineering issue and it cannot be repaired. I've contacted consumer affairs but they're saying there' s no other report beside myself so they're not taking action. I need help at this point- where do I go or what do I do???.

53 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2004 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 11/20/2003

Complaint concerns 2004 Nissan armada. My vehicle makes an unbearable fluttering noise (like a helicopter sound) at speeds of 40 mph +; the sound is so loud it hurts our ears, especially those of our three young children. Also, there are major air leaks from the front dash and side doors which the dealer has attempted to repair but has not been successful. We have been told now for over two months that the weatherstripping needed has been on "back order!" my vehicle has also developed an unusual engine noice (like something loose in the engine compartment) after approximately four weeks of use and dealer, while acknowledging "issue" cannot locate source of "issue. " the noise problem is so bad that we cannot use the vehicle for highway use!.

55 Unknown Or Other problem of the 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Failure Date: 12/06/2002

I am greatly disappointed due to the fact that I have been experiencing several problems related to the same matter in my 2001 Pathfinder se. It has been one disappointment after another all related to the same issue, thus makes the vehicle unsafe. The problems that I have are with the weather strips and the regulators in the driver and passenger side. They have been replaced several times, and now they need to be replaced again. Obviously these parts are made of poor quality. The cost for replacing these parts is very expensive. I urge Nissan to recall the parts in the Pathfinder doors.
