general problems of the 2011 Nissan Rogue - part 1

The power steering failed while driving.

I am the 2nd owner of a 2011 Nissan Rogue purchased in 2016. I have had four problems with the vehicle, the major one being the transmission that will not cool and overheats as soon as the temperature goes up. With the most recent heat wave, I have experienced no power going to the wheels. I had no power steering and had to push my car off the road with a friend with in the car. I also experienced a short in the system where it had no power at all and seemed to have no battery power, it clearly is an electrical short. The fourth issue is the passenger seat airbag. I have never received any notice from Nissan about any of these issues since I purchased the car used in 2016. When I called today, I was told that there were no recalls on my car and hung up on by Nissan America. I clearly saw four recalls that had been issued over the years on all four of these issues. I drive for the elderly, homeless, homebound and other persons in need in my community and have done so since I was 14 years old. I am a good citizen and have gone out of my way to try to make things right and just for all people. I am appalled at the conduct and behavior that I received on the phone today. I understand that my car is older but I would have returned my car for service if I had received a recall of which I received none. I know for fact that the recall for the transmission came out in 2016 and should have covered my car. I cannot take care of the people and continue with what I do in my community without a working car. I cannot afford a new car and surely do not deserve such disrespect.

I have no back tail lights , mechanic says it's an electrical issue yrans module needs fixed right front hub bearing and head light switch, my air bag system is constantly on my car cruise control system is messed up the cruise control steering switch needs to be replace my cars control panel all messed up.

The car will not go when she come to stop at shakes and jerks, so hard you cannot accelerate once you come from a stop if you do the car dies the car dies when trying to merge onto the highway due to the acceleration especially on hot days almost died a few times on the way home from work hitting st. Louis traffic. The car is a piece of junk. Good luck surviving trying to drive it.

There even has been a lawsuit on their "fix" because they just continue to use the same sensors even when replacing the recalled vehicles sensors. They also expect you to pay 2700 to replace an entire seat cushion to replace said sensor. I am sorry but poor people do not have that kind of money laying around. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? yes was reproduced and confirmed by a local Nissan deal. They even cleared the code and within 2 weeks it appeared again in the same way/format. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? no were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? air bag warning light and the passenger side airbag light kicks on thinking there is a "child" or something light in the front seat which disables the airbag.

The contact stated that at that time she did not see any smoke in or around her vehicle, so she assumed that it may have been a outside vehicle. The contact stated that after she continued to drive for a few miles, she smelled a burning odor again, however she stated that once she looked out the window towards the passengers side and noticed grey smoke coming from the engine compartment of her vehicle. The contact stated that she was able to drive approximately a mile, and was able to to pull over in a parking lot to exit the vehicle. The contact stated that she then lift the hood of her vehicle and saw 2 wires that were still burning in the engine compartment of the vehicle. The contact stated she then contacted the fire department, who arrived on the scene, and extinguished the fire. The contact stated that she was advised by the fire department that the fire started behind the fire wall of the vehicle. The contact stated a fire report was made, and her vehicle was towed to her residence. The contact stated that no injuries were sustained to her , or the passenger in the vehicle at the time. The contact stated that she has not contacted the dealer at the time , however she contacted the manufacturer in regard to a recall that she found while doing her own research. The contact stated that the same year , make , and model vehicle was recalled , and was experiencing the same failure as she was with her vehicle NHTSA 15v032000 (electrical system) , however her vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 166,023.

The contact stated that she had initially taken her vehicle to leachman Buick GMC Cadillac (2012 scottsville rd, bowling green, ky 42103) for an oil change, but upon return of the vehicle, the horn failed to operate as needed. The contact had taken the vehicle back to the dealer and was referred to a Nissan dealer for assistance. The contact had called the dealer and was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact made multiple attempts to reach the manufacturer however, each attempt was unsuccessful. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

With no clear reason the passenger seat airbag system became defective. It did not detect passenger and always stays off. Took it to a certified Nissan dealer and they said it is a common issue, and the only fix is to reset it electrically or pay 2,500 for a new passenger seat. I opted to reset it electrically which cost $150 and was a temporary fix as the system resumed being defective after a few days. The defect is very dangerous as is disables the passenger airbag completely and will not deploy in the event of an accident which can be deadly.

Drove home, while attempting to park, (car was in motion) vehicle stalled & steering locked, lights on dash flicked off, radio went off then came back on. This happened 4 times while I attempted to park. Finally parked vehicle successfully & turned car off. This happened several times in recent months but only for a few seconds also on another occasion was unable to turn steering wheel once vehicle was on. Tonight was the worst experience, alarming. I plan to take SUV in for check up tomorrow.

Im having issues accelerating since I purchased the car, the transmission is bad , there is cut electric wires by the brake and gas pedal. When breaking there's knocking, pinging, the brakes shakes. I almost got into 4 accidents with my family and child. I was told by dealer it was the reg gas I put in the tank but then got carfax history and seen a mechanic and was told transmission is bad the light is on dash. At 25mph the rpm jumps up and down. Gas tank reads incorrectly.

While driving on a highway, the car caught fire under the hood near the driver's side headlight. The headlight was replaced the day before the incident. The headlight worked when installed but was not working by the next evening. The driver's side headlights have needed replacing more often than the passenger headlight (a 3:1 ratio or a 4:1 ratio). That ratio may indicate an electrical problem. Headlight bulb was a napa bp1255/h11ll-n. Our car took an h11 bulb. The ll stands for long life.

The passenger side front door open alarm remains on as does the interior lights. We have replaced the battery within the last month. We have cleaned all the components of the front door hinges and locks and the alarm remains on as do the interior lights. This happens when the vehicle is parked or moving.

The airbags light is on and the window wiper does not spray very hard to clean the windows.

This last time to the Nissan in my area, I had them look at my passenger airbag sensor, as the sensor indicates off, even if there is no weight on the seat. My service advisor and the head of the service department both said that it's not clear if the airbags will deploy if the sensor is off. They said I could get it replaced, but the issue it will cost $2,600 because they need to replace the whole seat. Come to find out, this is actually an issue reported to the NHTSA from other 2011 Rogue owners. I am the primary driver in my family, but now I am worried to transport anyone. It doesn't look like there has been a recall, but this is an issue that can cause me to sell my vehicle and not get another Nissan. I am now worried of getting into an accident and knowing full well my airbags, the one thing built into the vehicle to keep people safe, may or may not deploy, and may or may not keep people safe. $2,600 to fix a car defect isn't an option for me. Planning a funeral for someone who chooses to ride in my front seat isn't an option either. I am truly at a loss for what to do next, but I am heartbroken that it's come down to those two options. I wanted to keep my Rogue for a few years more - I love it, but safety is my number one priority. I wish safety was a priority to Nissan to make this a recall, but it seems like profits have surpassed customer safety. The sensor has been on for months, but the first time they said there was nothing that could be done.

Takata recall I'm having my car turn off when I turn it while driving and when I turn the blinkers the radio turns off while I'm driving as well whether on the streets or the freeway. My car has turned off on my while im on the road on it's own as well. I received the acsd steering switch circuit malfunction code on my car engine light.

Electrical problmes. None of the buttons in the steering wheel works, the camara screen goes black, the seat cannot be adjusted to move forward so I have to drive with my leg stretch. Also the windows control is not fuctioning,.

After stopping at stop signs or lights a super slow jerky take off. Also jerks and loses speed when going up hill. Had shut completely off on me at stop lights 3different times.

When making turns car loses power and at times stops completely. Electrical issues include navigation system and interior/ dashboard lights not coming on or popping on randomly. Moon roof will not open/close unless I keep pushing the button 10 or more times.

Shortage issue drawing power from somewhere to cause corrosion on battery and cause car to stall or not start.

I was traveling on the meadowbrook state pkw today (04/29/19) about 2min in , the traffic came to a complete stop for about 30 sec , I slowly started to accelerate but noticed the car was rolling backwards . I checked to make sure the leaver was still in drive , which it was , I mabe a second attemp but still rolling backwards by then tge person behind me started honking . I immediately turn my flaher on , put it into park and turn the ignition off waited a little then turn the engine back on put it back into drive then it started moving forward . I am sgaken up over the fact that I could have accelerate harder and there would have been an accident .

My vehicle gets water on the driver's side floor, up to an inch and causes electrical issues. Nissan stated they fixed the issue but did not deal my vehicle and it's not their problem after the first fix. Water is there when driving, parked or any time the road is wet or raining.

Electrical function in the vehicle it's like it has a shortage in it. When I plug my gps or my phone it would go out, and not charging. Also the usb portal also goes out. This is happens when the car is driving or when it's park.

My emergency lights does not work my engine is slipping transmission fluid going bad after one week keep changing it my ac don't come on and when I travel a distance my car go 20 mph and can't go no faster help and got the problem fix and the problems still occurring and now the check engine light is on again I was stuck on the side of the road for six hours.

The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving, the vehicle decelerated independently and stalled. The contact mentioned that the malfunction warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to modern Nissan of lake norman (18615 statesville rd, cornelius, nc 28031), but could not be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Yesterday I was driving to work in the city took a left hand turn onto a busy street beside the highway and all of a sudden my steering wheel took control and pulled the wheel to the right I nearly crashed into a guard rail. I pulled the wheel back to the left and was absolutely freaked out by what had happened. Last evening all of a sudden I turn my car off go into a store come out an hour later and nothing at all when I turned the ignition key. No lights no dash lights no noise at all is was as if battery was completely dead. New battery installed 4 months ago. I thought I may have left something on and caused the battery to drain, however, a few minutes later the car dashboard lights up on its own with the key still in the ignition but not turned on to the start position. I turned the key and the car started. This morning I went to leave for work, same thing car absolutely dead. I checked under hood, thought perhaps loose cables to the battery. I checked and saw no loose cables I wiped around the area with a paper towel got back in car turned key and the car started. I drive to work in boston park the car in my employee parking garage and get out of the car and went to automatically lock the doors and nothing. No security light on inside of the car, totally dead again! I'm wondering if this is an issue with many other Nissan's as I read online many complaints of this same issue. Has there been a recall for this issue? what is the issue? I need to get this resolved please. I can't have a vehicle that is undependable especially when I am making car payments on this vehicle every month. It is rather scary that this may be an electrical or steering issue for safety reasons. The car went out of control on its own yesterday.

Takata recall I would like to inform everyone of our issue on our 2011 Nissan Rogue. While driving on the freeway we lost all power in an instant. This is not safe! we also saw the issue of not being able to accelerate and even when on cruise control it completely falling off due to lack of power.

Door locks throughout the vehicle do not lock/unlock as they should automatically (driver side door and both back passenger doors). Have to manually lock/unlock. In case of an emergency of an accident/fire etc. , the doors wouldn't unlock in order to get infants, toddlers and young children out of the vehicle in a hurry. If I were being followed/stalked, I wouldn't be able to lock all my doors for my own safety. Belongings in my vehicle are at risk. Please issue a recall to get this safety issue resolved as soon as possible. Just look at the lock problems on all forums on the internet with various Nissan models. Estimate of $500 per door to fix each actuator is insane. I do not have over $2,000 to fix something that should be recalled and fixed by Nissan. At first, I wasn't sure what was going on. After leaving/locking the vehicle and then returning, one of my passengers would pull on their door or I'd pull on the door handle on the driver side and my alarm would go off. I had locked/alarmed the car when existing but the doors were not actually locked so when you returned to the vehicle and pulled on door handle you were able to open the door (due to lack of lock actually locking) which caused the alarm to sound. Paying closer attention to see if in fact the locks were locking/unlocking which they were not. When I arrive at destinations, turn the vehicle off, the doors remain locked and I manually have to unlock before I can exit the vehicle is another incident in which I realized there was a problem.
