To whom it may concern, I am filing a vehicle safety complaint regarding a sudden and complete failure of the body control module (bcm) in my 2015 Nissan Rogue. This failure has resulted in a complete "no-start" condition, rendering the vehicle inoperable without warning. The problem occurred on or about [date of breakdown, if known]. The vehicle would not start, despite the ignition powering on. A professional diagnosis was performed, which confirmed that the body control module had failed and was not sending the required signal to the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) to allow the vehicle to start. The technician's notes state: "found no signal from bcm to ipdm to start vehicle. " I have since learned that this is a known manufacturer issue, documented in Nissan technical service bulletin (TSB) ntb16-024, titled "no start, mil on, dtc u1000, u1010, c110a, p1614, p1615, p1630, p1631 (reprogram bcm or replace ipdm). " the diagnosis and attempted repair on my vehicle perfectly match the procedure outlined in this TSB. Safety concern: while a"no-start" condition may not seem like a traditional safety hazard, the sudden and unpredictable nature of this failure presents a significant safety risk. A vehicle that becomes completely inoperable without warning can strand drivers and passengers in potentially dangerous situations, such · in the middle of intersections or busy roadways. · in isolated areas with no access to help. · during extreme weather conditions (extreme heat, cold, storms). · while transporting individuals with medical needs. The failure of a critical electronic component like the bcm, which is responsible for numerous vehicle functions, at only 50,000 miles indicates a serious and potentially widespread defect in materials or workmanship. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this failure pattern in 2014-2016 Nissan Rogue vehicles. Existence of a TSB and numerous complaints from other owners online suggest a major defect.
Check engine light came on. Took to dealership. They performed diagnostics. Told me the transmission was failing and needed to be replaced. Also said that the catalytic converter was failing too and needed to be replaced also. Didn't have issues with the car up to this point. Researched and saw that Nissan had issues with their cvt transmissions including the Rogue model and year I had. This was the second time a transmission failed on a Nissan Rogue that I owned. If there is an issue with the transmission why are they allowed to still sell it? a bad transmission can cause an accident when driving or in reverse. Needless to say I was pretty much forced to sell this on a trade in for a new vehicle. It's thousands of dollars to repair/replace and no guarantee that the transmission they put in will work properly either. Your agency really dropped the ball on this. This issue has been going on for 2 decades already. I would like to be reimbursed for it. I know that's not your agency's job but you should be much more diligent on these issues. Consumer lives are at risk not to mention the huge cost of repairing/replacing a transmission. Nissan is getting a free pass on selling defective vehicles to the public.
My fuel gauge does not regard fuel consumption nor measure fuel at all. I do not have any idea if I am on empty or half fuel. Fuel indicators just quit functioning and will cost me over $1,100 to fix. The car is 6 years old and only has 50,639 miles.
My car started shaking while in reverse and slow to shift gears while accelerating at about 60k miles I took it into multiple Nissan dealerships and they told me there was nothing wrong with my car. I took it in again at 80k miles and they told me that I was on the way to needing a new transmission at 80k! and they had seen lots of other cars like mine but the warranty just lapsed. Now at 98k miles my check engine light came on and I had the code ran to find out it is the transmission. Another side effect is my gas mileage has dropped to about 20 miles to the gallon highway .
Driving on interstate at approx. 70 mph, and cruise control kicked off by itself at least 3 times. Then all of a sudden I lost power, it was not like a out of gas loss, it just slowed down. I had the gas pedal floored to maintain speed as I was traveling at 70mph in heavy traffic on interstate. I moved to the outside lane to avoid any chance of an accident and took the next exit to turn around and go back home. When I got onto the entrance ramp back to the interstate, it took me about 1/2 mile at least to get up to speed again. Since I got back home everything appears normal but I am afraid to travel any distance in case I should loose power again I have had the vehicle put on the computer monitor and they say nothing is showing as wrong. During this exam I was told that if the engine warning light never came on the computer check would not show anything. At no time during the power outage did the engine warning light or any warning device show up.
Fails to accelerate on long trips, just completely stops accelerating unless vehicle is stopped and allowed to cool off for 10-15 minutes.
The underside feels like it has become unstable took it to mossy Nissan and they said vehicle transmission system was unstable and they fixed it. But ran okay for a month after having 4 rotors resurfaced. Car feels unsaf.

While making a turn the car stalled and would not accelerate. I pressed on the gas and the car would barely move. I was able to get it off the road. I then parked and turned the vehicle off. I waited a minute or so before starting it. I did try to put the vehicle in drive and attempt to drive with the same issue. I put the car in park while letting the engine run. Waited another 5 minutes and attempted to drive the vehicle again. This time I was able to drive the vehicle, however I am concerned there is an issue. I no longer feel safe while driving this vehicle. This happened in a major intersection.
Costco gas station permits me to pump my own gas. When I do now pump the gas, I lock the pump at the handle and the gasoline flows in, but the last 2 times the gas pump shuts off the gas flow prematurely and gas is spilled. And the hose and end fittng (since about a huncred miles ago) this creates a gas spill with every try.
I received 2 different recall letters, called my local dealership& they stated that they have not received the parts yet that they need to fix my car. I do not wish to drive a car around that has 2 different recalls & that cannot be fixed right away.
The contact owns a 2015 Nissan Rogue. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16v149000 (fuel system, gasoline); however, the part for the recall repair was not available. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
