1 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 08/08/2025

On [xxx] I was at a stoplight with my children and when it turned green I went to proceed and then I was moving slowly and it wasn't letting me go any specific speed and died in the middle of the road on a busy intersection at that leaving my children and I at risk of being potentially hit by another car, and it was in the evening time something could have happened to us ladies as I have a [xxx] and a [xxx] and I'm a [xxx]. Mind you my battery was brand new so there was no indications on my dashboard giving me any sign of warnings nor was my Nissan Rogue driving any different as I've kept up with maintenance and oil changes all of the above. So not only did I have to get out and push my Nissan Rogue out of the road my [xxx] had to steer and I about got ran over and that's jeopardized in my life and then my kids wouldn't have had a mother thank god people jumped off their bicycles to help me. Then people the gas station tried to jump me but they're jumper cables and they said your battery is completely dead and I said that's not possible because I have a brand new battery as of a couple weeks ago just for the simple being that I'm responsible and I replace things when it's past the time and needs to be replaced. So my friend drove all the way up to us went across the street to autozone and bought a brand new battery and put it in then car started right up and was back to normal. But after the girls and I got home and went to bed we got up did our normal daily routine and got in the car to go do some errands and I pull out of my neighborhood and then boom I did it again and I was stuck in the middle of traffic on [xxx] . Three officers had to block off traffic then battery wouldn't hold a charge with that brand new battery three batteries later and an alternator we'll see what happens now information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

2 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2023

Both headlights have moisture located on the inside of the glass. Saturated with big beads of water. Both headlights fogged up so bad they were basically useless. There is no front end damage, car has been well cared for. Lewiston idaho Nissan dealer could care less. Owner replaced both headlights at his own expense.

3 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/06/2021

My 2016 Rogue is now needing its 4th passenger side headlight replaced in 5 years. Each time it is due to a broken seal around the headlight, which allowed water to come in and short circuit the headlight & making the non-bright function null. Brights still work. After taking it to 2 separate local Nissan dealerships, they both concluded it was indeed a faulty headlight / design and both indicated it would be $1600 to replace with a new one. After relaying this info to Nissan corporate, they said they wouldn't help with their "goodwill program" since they'd already done so the last time the headlight was replaced and because of the age of the vehicle. However, as I mentioned to the Nissan rep, the issue has never truly been fixed (the seal area around the headlight to prevent moisture shorting out the light) since the previous headlights have all given out in the exact way. My perception is this is just a poorly designed vehicle that Nissan was willing to flood into the market but was never intended to last more than 5-6 years, nor was Nissan willing to stand behind and admit their design mistakes. By the way, I have a 2015 armada with more miles than my Rogue and those headlights are still as bright as ever.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

Both headlights on low beam do not light up road infront of you although they used to no problem, the regular headlights are so dim it is almost impossible to see without having high beams on. However driving with high beams puts headlights directly in the eyes of oncoming traffic. . Improper lighting is dangerous! when driving at night, I must use highbeams or you can not see far enough ahead to confirm nobody walking on side of road and road ahead is clear. This started occurring at approx. . 40,000 miles, my last Rogue never had this issue. I have not taken to dealership yet but need to now that I see some of the complaints and our issue is not a bulb. There has been no warnings or messages for this issue to repair ourselves we are unable to do so because it's not a blub it's the direction of the low beam lights have changed we do not know what has caused this we just started noticing we were unable to drive at night securely and did not have $ to take to dealership. Yes my car can be inspected if you are able to do so. I will be taking to mechanic ASAP I will upload report. This is an ongoing safety issue.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2016

In February 2016 I purchased a 2016 Nissan after having owned muranos or Rogue for about 9 previous years. The headlite system was changed to a led computer controlled system. The headlites were now very focused with no light escaping from a heavy direct concentrated beam. If the normal headlites were turned on and directed toward the back of another you can distinctly notice the clear area from the ground up to the height of the Rogue's hood. The rest of the light would appear to be tinted. If the high beams were turned on you would have more light on the object in front of the Rogue. The main problem is when the Rogue is headed down hill. The bottom of the hill would be lit up but the area directly in front of the Rogue would be like a black hole especially if travelling on an unlit country road. An accident waiting to happen. I returned to demo this condition to the Nissan dealer who confirmed my feelings about the headlites. I then reported the same info to Nissan who took my comments but did not indicate whether anything would be done. I urge you to investigate as it is another indication that headlites are a defect and should be corrected. Thank you, the vehicle performs the same way whether stationary, in motion or on any type of road but is most dangerous on a dark country road. Thank you burton welte 212 831-0540 burtwelte@gmail.
