Hatchback/liftgate problems of the 2016 Nissan Rogue

The contact owns a 2016 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that liftgate support had failed to operate as needed, causing the liftgate to independently slowly lower while in use. The contact stated that the liftgate had struck her husband several times however, no injury was sustained. The contact stated that the liftgate could only be opened manually. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred her to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA campaign number: 16v219000 (structure) which she linked to the failure. The dealer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 76,000.
