Have had this car for over a year and have been dealing with it constantly going into limp mode randomly throughout the day, usually when driving in stop and go traffic. Prior to going into limp mode (won't shift out of first gear), it lags for about 5 seconds while pressing the acceleration pedal and does not move. It's a huge safety issue when having to turn with oncoming traffic. I've taken the car to the dealer multiple times and Nissan refuses to acknowledge that there is any issue. When scanning with an obd2 scanner, there are no codes associated with transmission issues. Transmission fluid has been flushed and replaced more then once since owning the car. On bad days, my car has gone into limp mode up to 6 times in one day. I've read this is a common problem with this year and model of car yet there is no recall for the cvt or cooling system for the transmission fluid. Mechanics can't seem to figure out a solution and I'm stuck with a car that has almost caused me to be in multiple accidents due to the hesitation/lag randomly when accelerating. I fear my transmission is going to go out every day I drive this car and it is my only car sadly.
Pungent gasoline odor permeating throughout the vehicle.
I was driving on the 60fwy east, close to 57 south but my lights ( engine and tire were on ),when suddenly I lost the control and I hit on the wall. The steering wheel was a little hard and the mechanic told me my catalyst wasn't good( engine and tire sensor aren't working correctly ). I thought it was my last day because that freeway is a little hight. I imaged my car flying. Also I have 1 accident . I crashed one car but it wasnt my blame. The car lost the control. Now I have to pay but it is expensive for me.

Occasionally, when attempting to start driving from a complete stop (from a stop sign, traffic light, etc. ) the Rogue will delay to accelerate and not move more than a few miles per hour for a few seconds before fully engaging. This is a safety issue when attempting to turn left at a green light, or crossing streets from a stop sign because there is no way to tell if the Rogue will delay in accelerating until you press the gas pedal. I have found that this is more likely to start happening after driving in stop and go traffic or on a route that has frequent stops. Also, occasionally after driving in stop and go traffic, the Rogue will begin to rev high and not accelerate. In both cases, if the Rogue is turned off and restarted, the problem stops and the Rogue accelerates normally again.
As I was driving, steadily pressing on my gas, and I felt the car stopping. The car sounded like it was in neutral and I was pressing on the gas but it didn’t make a difference. I pulled over put it in park, then drive again. The problem persisted. I turned off the car and then it drove regularly. This has occurred 2 times already. I use premium gasoline and get oil changes regularly. This seems like a transmission problem. I’m very scared this might happen when I’m on a highway.
There is a severe acceleration issue happening with this vehicle. When ibling for to long or stop/go traffic, the acceleration of the vehicle disappears and seems to ride with little mobility. The rpms will sky rocket, yet the car will not move fast at all. It's gotten quite scary crossing two lanes of traffic from a stoplight. There is an attached doc from the manufacturer communications section stating just this issue on Jan 2018.
On 4-27-2023 with no warning light's or any symptoms of problems, I made a left turn at a busy intersection and upon acceleration of the gas the car felt as if wanted to stall. I had a brief decline in power with a bit of locking of the steering wheel then it jolted forward and ran normal. I'm glad I was only a half mile from home to park it safely. On 4-28-2023 I was able to drive it a mile from home without incident to have the oil changed, as well as fuel injectors cleaned and radiator serviced, in hope that it would help with the issue, but it did not. I was able to get it home and as I was about to parallel park I put it in reverse and turned my wheels and it began locking of the wheels on and off. I am blessed to have made it home and not be on the road with my family.
This has happened multiple times on interstate 20. I will merge onto the interstate and my Rogue will lose power completely. I can have the gas pedal almost at the ground and there is no acceleration. The rpm will go up to 4 but literally no acceleration is happening. I can feel the car get to 60 and then it won’t go any faster. At times when idle at a red light or in a parking spot so many warning lights will come on about pedestrian crossing and some other odd ones. If I turn the car off for 30+ seconds the car resets back to normal until the next time it does it. I don’t know if these two issues are related but both are impacting the trust I have in this vehicle to get me where I need to go and arrive alive. I have cell records and photos from some of the times the lack of acceleration situation happened because I was so frightened I called my spouse or son to ask what was happening. The incidents on i20 my children were also in the car and could feel that we were not going fast enough to keep up with traffic and could no accelerate or increase speed with the gas pedal going down, down.
I first noticed my gas gauge was not moving after driving 75 miles. It was showing the tank was on full, ( this could not be so) in addition I begin to count the mileage I was driving and I noticed that my mileage gas gauge wasn’t working as well. For instants I drove 40 miles and only half of that subtracted from my mileage so neither the gas or mileage gauge is working and or reporting the correct gas amount in my tank. I looked up the issue on the internet and found that many people with all different types of Nissan models and years are having this problem yet there isn’t a recall there’s only a technical bulletin out. I called Nissan in crystal river florida to ask them if they knew about the problem they said they did not and if I wanted to get it fixed to bring it in for a diagnosis of $189. I refused. So now this is a safety problem as I do not know how much gas is in my tank.
The car even after reprogramming icc/ adas radar is still having similar problems over again. The car when driving on an open road suddenly stops and stalls with a malfunction sign and a crash signal in the middle of highway. The car then does not starts and the above message prevents the rpm from increasing. It drives at idle speed with no acceleration. The car fixes back itself some times and restarts driving fine and after few miles, again in the middle of road, same incident happened when it stalled again and same malfunction message appeared. There is an open investigation by nhsta currently about this incident as reported in majority of 2017 Nissan Rogue. It is a huge safety concern with increased risk of injury or death to self, passengers, and others. Nissan is not taking accountability for this.
When I accelerated after being at a complete stop, my vehicle would not move at first. The rpms shot up, but no movement. I was at a busy intersection and the situation was bothersome but there was no accident. I very slowly pressed the gas pedal again and the vehicle went forward. This is not the first time this has happened. Current mileage is 89,600. This type of problem began around 75,000 miles but has not been a weekly occurrence. This has not been confirmed by a dealer nor inspected. No warning lights came on. There has been hesitation in acceleration for about 2 months but I thought it was possibly bad fuel. There are times the rpms will greatly increase without speed increasing.
My car had less the 30,000 mi on it. It 28,700mi at the time of incident. I bought it brand new in 2018. So this year my warranty expired in April 2021. In June my cooling fan went out and I had no a/c plus the car was not drivable due to it overheating. I’m in idaho we were have 100-110 degree days here. I had no car for a month and a half because I was told that they don’t make the cooling fans anymore and the dealership couldn’t get ahold of one for that period of time. Meanwhile I lost my job we don’t have busses and I couldn’t get rides or afford ubers/ taxis everyday several times a day. It was awful. I know this issue has to be known to Nissan. Shouldn’t there have been a safety recall by now?!? also at the exact same time as the cooling fan went out the fuel pump went out too! now mind you this car was brand new is three years old with less then 30,000mi on it. So the warranty had expired three months prior they can’t get the part to replace it for 1 1/2months so I have no car during that time loose my job and have to foot the bill for replacing both the cooling fan and the fuel pump. Okay I believe this make, model, and year needs to have a mandatory safety recall ASAP. For goodness sake look at how many people have had to replace their cooling fans on their car! that’s not okay. I demand that something be done to fix this before someone’s car catches fire and someone ends up dying!.
When the vehicle is put in drive or reverse the whole vehicle shakes tremendously and is very, very noticeable while holding the brake. Also when I turn on the ac the whole vehicle shakes.
I have experienced, at least 10 times as of 9/12/2020, the latest instance being yesterday 9/11/2020, a lack of response when accelerating. Every instance occurred after the vehicle was at a complete stop, no rolling stops were affected. Some of the times it was really hot (95 degrees fahrenheit), but other times it was 65-70 degrees fahrenheit. Some of the instances were right after I turned the car on and needed to stop and then go, other instances were after driving for 30 minutes or more. I would press the gas pedal to drive and there was no response from the car, I. E. No forward motion, no rpms, no revving of the engine. I would then let the gas pedal come up and then press the gas pedal down again to accelerate. In some of the instances, the second press of the gas pedal would make the car go. Most of the instances needed a third very fast completely to the floor press of the gas pedal in order for the car to move. Some of the instances were while I was just sitting at a red light waiting to go, others were when I needed to stop to make a left turn (which became quite dangerous very fast). None of the instances happened while on the highway or while changing speeds while driving. All instances happened on suburban roads while running errands or going to and from work or people's houses. There did not appear to be any electrical issues when these instances happened, the radio and lights still worked correctly without any hesitation. There were no lights on the dashboard alerting me to any codes being given by the engine. I am really unsure of what the cause is, and the mechanics could not replicate it to look into anything. After a few instances of this, and in talking to some of my car friends, it could be a throttle response issue or maybe a gummed up valve in the fuel system somewhere. I really don't know.
Vehicle fails to accelerate up to speed, get on to highway vehicle would not go over 60mph, then when traffic slowed for accident, vehicle would not accelerate over 40mph almost causing another accident. Have found numerous other similar complaints on different forums, some with much worse descriptions. Dealer states they have never heard of such events, which has to be false. They are stating it is some sensor in the exhaust system not covered under warranty of course cause nothing is! just so unhappy, first new vehicle purchased, three years old and so very disappointed with my choice, will never purchase any Nissan vehicle again. They do not care about consumer safety!.
I will stop at a red light and when the light turns green, I give it gas to accelerate and it doesn't do anything. The gas pedal will go straight to the floor and the car doesn't move. I have to depress and press the gas pedal three or four times before it moves. It happens when the weather is hot and I have been driving for a long time.
When the vehicle is stationary, engine turned off a weird chirping/buzzing noise comes from the engine in intervals. The dealer is unable to duplicate, had the vehicle for 2 weeks. I have recorded it and sent to several mechanics, I see on youtube other owners have it as well, and Nissan can't figure out what it is. It happens frequently since the day I purchased the vehicle on 7-31-2017 brand new. I now have 10,000 miles, it still happens, last time yesterday.
I am smelling exhaust if I am stopped at a stop light or stop sign for less than a minute. It started about 2 weeks ago. I have not changed the gas I use or the gas station that I fill up at.
Since purchasing the named vehicle in September 2017 brand new it has been in the shop for repairs a total of 8 times and is now sitting at the dealership because I refuse to get back into the vehicle. The car has been in the shop on several occasions concerning the brakes. Severe amounts or brake dust, brakes squealing and grinding. Rough idle, vibration and veering to the right. Duplicated and found cause engine mounts misaligned and vacuum hose was rattling. Also had to adjust the base idle. Brake dust again. Cup holder disassembled from the armrest. Collision sensor warning light malfunction came on without justifiable cause. Manufacturer defect with the front grill (warped) duplicated. The entire grill was replaced. Chirping in the window. Duplicated and the surface area was cleaned which occurred again. Detected it was the seatbelt harness. The car had a popping noise when turning and in reverse. Duplicated coming from the mount. Installed new coil, mount boot, and dampener. Several issues have occurred and there's more. This vehicle is not safe neither reliable. Each of the issues occurred while driving on the street, highway and while turning. I have over 30 pages of service orders. Too many to upload. I will upload a few important to show proof.
