My 2018 Nissan Rogue sport has been exhibiting intermittent cvt transmission hesitation for several months. The hesitation occurs regularly after stops and during longer drives, and the only way to temporarily resolve the issue is to turn the vehicle off and back on. The check engine light has also illuminated. My vehicle only has 67,000 miles on it. I brought the vehicle to a Nissan dealership where I was quoted $7,240 + tax to replace the full transmission assembly. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs who declined to offer any assistance. This is a serious safety concern — the hesitation after stops creates a significant risk of accident, particularly in traffic. I fear that the transmission will fail completely while driving, potentially causing a severe accident. This appears to be a widespread and well-documented issue with Nissan's cvt transmission. I am requesting that this issue be formally investigated and that Nissan be held accountable.

The front passenger car door failed to lock. It is considered a safety issue as it can leave the vehicle vulnerable to theft and may also pose a risk while driving if the door opens unexpectedly. It's important to address this problem promptly to ensure safety and security. There were no warning messages indicating the failed lock. I just happened to pull the handle and that door opened when all other doors remained locked. Prior to this discovery, I had experienced an incident where someone went through my car and took out valuables (coins and cash) but I was unaware that the door was not locking. Once the issue was identified, I took the car to the dealership for diagnosis, and the issue was a short in the door lock actuator (4 door 2018 Nissan rouge). I took the car in for immediate diagnosis and costly repair ($852. 03) as I did not feel comfortable driving or parking a car which could not be locked. The passenger side of my 2018 Rogue door lock actuator failed last year. I am unable to enter through my front passenger door. Earlier this year (2026) the driver side door lock actuator also failed, often leaving me locked out from both sides. I have to leave the door unlocked to ensure I can get into/out of my car.

The heating system does not heat, only blows cold related to the known issue with the blend door component. I live in the north east and this results in visibility issues as I can not get the heating system to blow hot to keep the windshield and side doors clear. The repair is to replace the entire heating box. My local mechanic has verified this is the issue with the heat and many forums for this vehicle confirm this is a known defect of design.

The vehicle experienced a sudden failure of the continuously variable transmission (cvt) while in operation. The failure occurred at a four-way stop during snowy conditions when I attempted to proceed through the intersection and the vehicle would not initially move or transmit power to the wheels, leaving me stopped in the roadway and unable to clear the intersection, creating a safety risk due to oncoming traffic and reduced traction and visibility. At the moment of failure, the check engine light illuminated solid and remained on, and has not turned off since. Although the vehicle was able to move afterward and be driven to a dealership, it exhibited loss of normal drivability. The vehicle was inspected by a Nissan dealership, which diagnosed a failed cvt solenoid and advised that the transmission is expected to progress to complete cvt failure. The dealership provided a repair estimate consistent with a full cvt replacement. The vehicle has not been repaired due to the cost and remains unsafe to operate. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The manufacturer (Nissan) was contacted for goodwill assistance and denied coverage. I am aware of a prior lawsuit involving Nissan cvt transmission failures; however, my vehicle’s model year was not included in that settlement despite experiencing a similar failure.

The malfunction warning indicator comes on and the car idles high. You have to pull over,turn off the ignition and turn the car back on. The dealerships can not find the reason . Happens sporadically . The light came on permanently 11/18/25.

The cvt transmission in my 2018 Nissan Rogue sport is malfunctioning and poses a serious safety hazard. The vehicle hesitates, loses power during acceleration, and displays warning lights while driving. This failure creates extremely dangerous situations, especially when merging into traffic, accelerating from a stop, or crossing intersections. Despite the widespread cvt issues in Nissan vehicles and identical symptoms reported in other Rogue models, Nissan refused to repair my cvt because they claim the Rogue sport is not included in the extended cvt warranty. I also requested goodwill assistance due to the clear safety risk, but this was denied as well. The dealer quoted me around $1,500 just to diagnose the cvt problem, with repair costs likely much higher. It is unreasonable for a critical safety component to fail at this mileage and for Nissan to reject all support. This issue continues to occur unpredictably, and the vehicle can suddenly lose power during normal driving, putting me and others at serious risk. Nissan has refused responsibility despite this being a well-documented, safety-related cvt defect. I am filing this complaint because the malfunction poses a risk of crashes and injuries, and Nissan has declined to address a known safety problem.

My sunroof exploded as I was driving on route 495 near mansfield MA Friday October 10th at approximately 3:42 pm. I heard a loud noise sounded like a gunshot and glass flew everywhere. The glass shattered everywhere also in my hair as well as on the seats both front and back seats. My safety as well as other drivers on the road could have been compromised. Luckily, shaken from the shattering of glass I was able to go into the breakdown lane to aces the damage. My insurance company was closed and is also closed today I will report it to them tomorrow.

Driver door will not open from outside or inside vehicle. Based on research this is an acuator issue that Nissan has known about since 2014 & failed to issue a recall. I am in the process of costly repair @ personal expense for a clear safety issue the know about & have failed to address, & would like reimbursement for. I have had to climb over/out passenger side several times to enter/exit car, thus far not being trapped, however it is not safe to not be able to quickly exit vehicle. Nor safe to manuver over console to exit this way. Nor is it safw not to be able to enter your parked vehicle. Nissan needs to issue a recall & cover repair expense on all makes/models & all doors affected, checking all 4 doirs, not just the one or 2 doors malfunctioning as this can/will affect all 4 doors.

I was driving my car and out of no where for the first time I feel it shaking and making a noise, it did it for a min then it would stop, and it would continue this way every couple of mins. I had a feeling I should pull over yet there was no where I could pull over to on a busy road, so I kept driving, eventually I could not drive faster than 20 mph, my car would not let me. It would make the noise that a car makes when you have it parked and are stepping on the gas pedal, like revving the car. Eventually I pulled over once I could and then turned off the car and turned it back on, once the car was on it would literally not move at all. I could shift the gear stick with no issue to drive and all the other things but I could still not drive my car, it wouldn’t move, there was no parking brake on, nothing. It was on drive but it would not move. At this time there was no lights suggesting anything was wrong with the car. I kept turning it back on and off and then it worked until I got to my destination. Once I got to my destination I was not able to go back home. The car would simply not run. There was no warning lamps or messages of any kind prior to the incident. My safety and others was put at risk because I was on a busy highway and I was not able to drive faster than 20 mph at one point. A car could’ve came at mine driving at 65+ mph stated in the speed limit. I was even able to get off the road at that time either. It was a very scary experience. It wasn’t until the tow truck towed to car to my house that the warning lights came on. Turning on hours after everything had already happened. There was 6 codes that popped up when we checked the car all relating to the transmission. This is a very serious and dangerous situation. I am lucky I didn’t get hurt or anyone driving around me at that time. I don't have any images from the incident only a video that shows the cars speed dropping and getting higher on its own, it literally felt like the car was driving itself.

On June 5th 2025, the radiator fan in my 2018 Nissan Rogue sport stoped working while my idling in traffic and caused my engine to overheat and smoke. I immediately pulled over and turned off the engine to allow it to cool down. This problem could lead to catastrophic engine failure, warped cylinder heads, blown gaskets, and could even cause a fire, which places my safety and the safety of others around me in imminent danger!.

Back up camera black out and on no volume with car play and radio not working. The it just stopped and with out warning will go out. Vehicle is available for inspection. Unable to see or getting warnings without back camera.

Rear power lift gate on my 2018 Nissan Rogue will randomly close after being lifted. Happens at any time, whether the key fob, dash button or the button on the lift gate itself is used. The lift gate has hit my wife and I in the head multiple times causing minor injury. The car has been back to my Nissan dealer twice, they state the struts, sensors and modules are all working fine. They indicated they recalibrated the sensors. Not sure what the issue is but we don’t like the idea of paying the quoted price of $1200 to replace the struts since this may be a general problem with the car.

My 2018 Nissan is having rear differential issues affecting the transfer case, I did see there was a class action lawsuit. My car is unable to go up any small ramps without stalling. I was told this issue will persist. I still owe the bank money. When I went to the Nissan dealership they offered me 1,000. 00 for my car. It is a 2018 with 108k miles on it.

Unknown. . . Heater/blend door on driver's side of the vehicle does not operate. I have had the step motor replaced 9 months ago and now the nylon nut in the heater box is stripped out and the blend door does not operate at all. In looking for repair options I have come across several other owners who also have this same common issue with this vehicle. This is faulty on the manufacturers part and I am asking for a case to be opened to look into this issue. When I bought the step motor from my local dealership, the parts manager told me that this is a common and large-scale problem with this particular vehicle.

The a/c does not work on the driver side making it impossible to defrost the windshield. The passenger side of the windshield defrosted, but not the drivers side making the vehicle impossible to drive as there was no vision for the driver. My mechanic had to disassemble the entire dashboard and found that the small plastic nob that allows the inside control to turn the air on and off had worn down. In order to drive safely, he removed the worn out piece and now the heat stays on 90 degrees and to have it turned off, he has to dismantle the entire dashboard. My husband got a quote from a dealer a year prior to his demise and it would have costs $4,000. So we resorted to drive his 2020 Nissan Rogue instead and left my vehicle parked most of the time. Now that the weather is 85+ I have to drive a vehicle that is blowing 90 on the driver and cannot be driven when raining because of the amount of steam generated due to the high temperature. At the current rate I have to have this procedure done twice a year just to drive the vehicle. I have found several videos on youtube regarding the problem with Nissan Rogues and this particular issue. However, I can find no recall to help remedy the problem. Therefore, I am asking that Nissan find a permanent solution to this problem and have it fixed at Nissan expense. Thanks.

For about a year now when starting my car I sometimes get a message that states no key detected. I have two keys in the vehicle with new batteries. I does not do it all the time but often. Yesterday the car would not start at all. I pressed the buttons on the key fob several times to lock and unlock the doors and the car finally recognized the key was in the car. Once I started rolling out the garage the brakes locked up and I could not turn the wheel. Thankfully, I was able to stop before entering the street. I feel this is a manufacturers defect because I have had several people with Nissans say they had the same issue and paid over $1000 to get it corrected. My CO worker was talked into trading hers in for another vehicle for the exact same issue. I made a claim with Nissan customer service. The case number is [xxx}. Cooling fan is going out, safety put at risk as it can cause engine failure. It has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, or insurance, but a trusted mechanic. I have video of it going out. No warnings whatsoever came up. Trusted mechanic showed me class action lawsuit in tennessee from 2024. In regards to a Nissan pathfinder. But this is a Nissan Rogue sport. I have video, but no photo.

While driving on the freeway, the overhead console fell from the ceiling of the vehicle. It dropped suddenly and apparently for no reason. Continued operation of the vehicle was impaired due to limited visibility. The dealership viewed the problem as an opportunity to sell parts. Pictures which are included in this communication were sent to the dealership, and, presumably, that is how they made their determination it was not a safety issue. There was no warning.

The radiator fan quit working around 116000 miles, causing engine to overheat, a/c to not work, coolant tank to boil all contents out each time the engine overheats. Starting the car is difficult now, have to pump the gas to get the engine to turn over. Battery dies often now.

I don't see a recall outstanding for the catalytic converter system but it says in 2020 there was a recall. My catalytic converter has gone bad. Makes we wonder if the work was ever really done? it should not go bad after on 4 years.

I was driving my car with the key fob in down right position and the car just shut off while driving and never started back up… took to the dealership they charged me $200 for a diagnosis test and than told me it was not the key but the machine can not read what’s wrong with the key.

On 3/5/24 I had a collision with a large deer. The front of the car was impacted. The air bags did not deploy. I was driving at 50 mph. I have sent my concern to Nissan but they have not responded. Approximately $10,000 in damage was done.

- the automatic rear lift gate trunk door fails to open all of the way up. The automatic rear lift gate trunk door fails to stay raised once opened. Yes, I provide consent for my vehicle to be inspected. - the gate falls and hits your head if under it. - the Nissan dealer confirms this is a routine failure in this vehicle and even acknowledges that it should be a recall. It is in fact so routine that multiple lift gates in this specific year/model are fixed per week and they are an annoyance and difficult to repair. It requires new parts in the lift gate hydraulic components to repair. - yes- the dealer has viewed my vehicle and quoted me a price for repairs. Roughly $700-$1,000 to repair. -no warnings or indications before its failure. And no warnings from the vehicle now that it is broken.

My car will stop suddenly, and unpredictably at various times. The car will stop and sometimes shake as it acts like its stalling out and an emergency light flashes up briefly. This has almost caused us to be in multiple wrecks. I am scared to drive this car and scared to have my children in the car. This is so unpredictable; it cannot be diagnosed at just any time. I'm not sure what to do but am super fearful this is going to cause a wreck and we could be injured and possibly injure others as this happens at any time and comes to a complete stop. Please help! this started from a few weeks after we purchased in 2021 but has got to be more frequent as of the last 3 months (2023) and worse in severity. I am very fearful.
