On a clear sunny day, while driving around 40 mph with no traffic in front or behind me my automatic emergency braking activated for a instant and then released. If I had been in traffic such as driving through dallas at 70 mph or more, I might have been rear ended. It scared me. I can imagine what a car behind me would have done with the car in front hitting their break for no reason. There was no warning.
I was traveling down a busy road just before lunch when I heard a beep then my Rogue braked hard. Thankfully nobody was in front of me or behind me at the time. It was scary.
I have a constant aeb warning light on the dashboard.
I was driving at around 20 mph when the aeb warning light came on, a malfunction light came on, and the vehicle brakes locked up. I put the vehicle into neutral and shut it off. I then started it back up. The malfunction light was still on, the aeb warning light was still on. I was able to put it in drive and move it. I'm terrified if this happens again especially if I am on the highway when it happens. I took the vehicle to the dealer and they said they don't know why it happened and can't explain the warning lights.
Hello: we bought the vehicle in 2021. After a few months, we noticed that the vehicle braked itself: meaning it auto-braked while driving at 25mph on the road. We took the vehicle to the dealer for repair. They said, "the vehicle was absolutely fine and perhaps something in the way of the vehicle triggered braking". I, the driver replied, I didn't have any vehicles either in front of or behind me. And besides, I understand the "safety features" and functionalities. Yet, they gave me the vehicle without repair. After a few months, same thing happened: the vehicle auto-braked or braked itself without me the driver putting my foot on the brakes. This time I also called the company's consumer affairs who said they'd help. The consumer affairs worked with the dealer. The dealer now said, "yes the vehicle indeed had auto-braking issues and it could be fixed, and that they'll fix it". So, I, now assured that the vehicle was a 100% fine when it came to auto-braking had been driving the vehicle until today April 16th, 2024, when while driving out on the city in 25mph the vehicle auto-braked again! I emailed the dealer and also called the company's consumer affairs (at their headquarters) to keep them in the loop today, and expect to hear back from them. In this instance, (3rd in 2-3 years), I'm not sure whether the dealer will brush aside the problem as "nothing" as in the first instance, or purport to "fix the issue" without actually fixing it, as in the second instance. At any rate, it came down to a "matter of principle": meaning since I'm not sure if the vehicle's intrinsic defect will be "resolved completely ever", I have to report it to "governing authorities". I hope you will take it from here and do the needful. Thank you in advance for your support.
Cars automatic emergency braking activated for no apparent reason.
I was pulling into a parking space with my foot on the brake going about 2 mph. About 4 feet from a pole the engine raced and the car slammed into the pole. The airbags did not deploy. I was the only person in the car and my foot was still on the bake after the collision I asked Nissan to investigate and they said I would have to wait to get the car fixed for two months and store and tow it at my own expense. It was already being repaired and my insurance company will only pay for a rental for 50 days.
While driving the car, sometimes the collision light will come on and the car will automatically start braking even though there are no cars around.
My automatic braking system malfunctioned twice within a year. It stopped and started right up again even though there was no car close in front of me or beside me. The first time it happened on interstate 95. The second time I was driving on a road going approximately 45 miles per hour. Thankfully, on both occasions, there was no car close behind me. I took it a Nissan dealership. They test drove it and did a diagnostic test. The problem could be diagnosed or duplicated. Since this last occurrence 2 weeks, I now manually disable the abs every time I get in my car.
The front censors activated during snow storm triggering the brakes to lock and steering wheel to lock. The car slid 50 yards across 3way stop sign intersection into a house front lawn. The same censors keep coming on all the time thinking that something is in front of car but nothing is there. I have recorded the censors lights on a few times. Nissan an Nissan dealer have told but no one seems to try to fix it. I'm filing a complain with NY state attorney general office. I can't take it anymore.
Yo he tenido dos frenados DE emergencia sin haber nada en el frente. Pero no sabia que pasaba. Almenos no paso nada grave. Pero vi una noticia DE telemundo que el modelo que tengo DE carro tiene problemas relacionados. Además mi asiento cuando acelero suena como si estuviera fracturado. Pero en la Nissan me dicen que está bien que no tiene nada malo.
My 2020 Nissan sport braked while I was driving and then lost power completely and would not accelerate no matter how much or how long I pressed the gas pedal. This occurred for no reason and there was no obstacle in front of the vehicle. This is a very serious problem and could cause a serious accident. A message appeared in the instrumental panel saying “warning malfunction” and the symbol of two cars colliding appeared.
Was driving on a county highway in mercer county, NJ that I’ve driven many times before around 40-45 mph in perfect sunny weather, mid-morning, when suddenly the car slammed on the brakes on its own. It was a terrifying experience as it happened so fast and I had no control over the vehicle. The blessing is that no one was behind or next to me, but what’s unnerving is there was no one or no objects in front of me. It actually took me a few minutes to make sense of what happened. There was seemingly no logical reason the automatic emergency break system should have activated. I drove it slowly to the dealer and left it as it was a weekend. Next day they checked the car/sensors and could not find an issues and said the software was up to date. They opened a ticket with Nissan who advised to replaced and configure the sensor. I pray it doesn’t happen again but they can’t guarantee it won’t as they said they’ve had other complaints (which they report to Nissan). If someone had been behind me, I was driving faster, or bad weather was present it could have ended very badly. I’m terrified it could happen again that I plan to keep that feature turned off when driving on high speed or busy roads. The annoying part is you have to manually turn it off each time you start the car. I’ve only had it back for a day so not sure what will happen. While the dealer did all they could to help me and make sure my car was safe, I think these features/sensors need to be investigated, let’s not wait until someone dies or is seriously injured.
In October of 2022, while I was driving my 2020 Rogue on a country road to a school event for my granddaughter, the car made a soft bell sound then it immediately slammed on the brakes for no reason that I can understand. I immediately pulled the car off the road. It showed a triangle with an exclamation point within it in the dash display. I shut the car off and when I restarted it the triangle was gone and it drove ok. I later read online that this could be an aeb issue. It was a clear day with no rain and no cars close in front and, luckily, behind me. It scared the hell out of my wife and I. I no longer feel safe in the car if it can do this for no reason! I brought the car into a Nissan dealer to have it checked on 10/20/22. They did not find any problems with it. They also did not see any fault codes that something happened within the vehicle's memory. I find it unbelievable that the car did not record the fault. To me this means that Nissan has deliberately disabled this function for this fault. I have done a lot of research and apparently this is a well known issue with Nissan vehicles, not just the Rogues. I have also read that there are 2 class action suits against Nissan for this. I brought the vehicle in again in Jan 2023 to get the car checked again for the false activation of aeb, Feb, or fcw. This time I asked to have it checked per ntb18-041d and reprogrammed to the latest software and/or any required hardware to fix this well known issue. They said this ntb was not for my Rogue and did not fix it. I have read that this is normal for this defect shown in the ntb. I am still afraid to drive this car and have only driven it about 400 miles since it was looked at. And now I only drive it with the aeb disabled as I was instructed by a tech in the service dept. I would really like to be able to use the aeb safety feature without fear of it falsely locking up the brakes while I'm driving. This Rogue only has 6835 miles on it.
While driving at 70mph on an empty highway, the car engages the aeb system and violently hits the brakes while no other vehicles or objects are present. Same thing happened on an empty city street a few weeks prior.
Over the past 6 months was when the following electrical issues began. I was traveling around 25 mph when my foward collison warning signaled and led to the automatic braking emergency engaging. There was no other vehicle or object around. I was in the countryside. The weather was clear. If this were to happen under different circumstances on a busy highway it would have caused an accident, most likely fatalities. The other drivers would have had no warning because the vehicle does brake hard even stop abruptly depending on speed. The vehicle locked up and I didn't have control over my vehicle anymore. Also more then once the forward collison light came on when it was raining and/or dense fog. The brakes did not engage and the alarm did not sound but the warning still showed on the dash. It eventually stopped showing on my dash as I drove, but I did pull over and wipe the sensor area. Another problem I'm encountering is the parking collison warning. Sensors are detecting something and being activated when there is no object behind vehicle. I even got out of vehicle to make sure because I didn't see anything in my camera. When I made sure there was nothing obstructing my travel I preceeded and the sensor stopped beeping. I have checked the Nissan website and entered my VIN but unfortunately there were no recalls for these malfunctioning sensors.
Heading home while raining the automatic emergency break engaged while driving and nothing was present to make it engage. This time my husband was driving and it made us run off the road. This also engaged while backing out of my garage and nothing was present to make it engage. Nissan does not seem like they want to fix the issue.
Breaks slammed on without warning with nothing in front of vehicle. There where no vehicles within a mile ahead. There where 4 people in the vehicle and the seat belts did not lock up and passengers where slammed into the dash. The breaks have locked up twice now.
I was stopped at a stop light, when it turned green I hit the gas and within a few seconds, an alarm came on and the car hit the brakes and stopped the car. There was no reason for this to happen. No one in front of me hit their brakes. If there was someone close behind me, I could've easily been rear ended.

Traveling between 35-40mph aeb comes on out of no where. There was no vehicle or obstructions in front of me in my lane at all. There was no warning lights or tones just instant loud braking. I have had it come on twice while backing down my drive but assumed it was picking up the curb or light post or cars in the driveway. This could have been a catastrophic incident had I been traveling at a higher rate of speed or there had been someone immediately behind me. I have contacted the dealership and we are working on what to do next.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 55 mph, the vehicle independently came to an abrupt stop as the automatic emergency brake warning light appeared on the instrument panel. The contact was able to resume normal driving after the failure however, the warning light remained illuminated on the instrument panel. Neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was 4,863.
New Nissan 2020 rouge sport with 1500 miles ! emergency front break malfunction warning . My car is not even 8 months old !.
Traveling about 40 mph on a two lane local road when the emergency braking activated on its on for about 3 seconds along with a loud pulsating feeling and noise.
The forward collision warning light keeps blinking on and off and according to fred anderson nissian of asheville they said after the 3rd time in the shop that the light blinking is normal. I have the service record where they said that.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Rogue sport. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the forward collision-avoidance emergency automatic braking system activated inadvertently and the vehicle stopped without another vehicle nearby. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer nor an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact deactivated the system however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 3,023.
While driving my car stops without prompt. It goes into n with out me touching the shift. This has happened twice while driving and the car just stopped, looking down to see what happened the car is in n. I am afraid this might happen while I am driving on 95.
I was driving about 55 mph no vehicles in front or behind me when my screen flashed with a warning while simultaneously slamming on the brakes. My foot was on the gas and I had zero control. I've had problems with my aed sensor before but never losing control of my brakes.
While driving on an interstate off-ramp going approx. 35 mph, then turning left, my 2020 Nissan Rogue sv awd, suddenly and automatically came to an almost complete stop. I was able to cruise to the shoulder and avoid being hit by a vehicle behind me.
Car driving along normally when suddenly automatic emergency brake applied itself. . This happened 3 times in first month of ownership. . First approaching bridge. . 2nd on residential road and third when backing out of driveway. At no time during these stoppages was a vehicle or other obstacle close by. . Texted salesman who advised turning off abs. . Will call tomorrow to dealer ( today Sunday) to attempt to have fixed. . Don't think there's recall yet but there are class action suits . . Vehicle was moving on all 3 occasions.
I was driving home from the store on bragg blvd and I was driving about 45 miles per hour and out of the blue an alarm went off and light on the dash started flashing and the auto breaking started to stop my 2020 Nissan Rogue sport for no reason no one was in front of me or behind me and I didn't know what was going on with the rouge why was it trying to stop on the highway at 45 miles per hour, just tried to stop for no reason.
My emergency braking system engaged as I was driving. I was going approx. 35 miles per hour on a city street when it happened. It made a loud grinding sound as it jerked my vehicle to an immediate stop in traffic, causing all the seat belts to jerk tight as we were thrown against them. It only lasted for a split second and I was able to resume driving.
The contact owns a 2020 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at highway speeds, the forward collision avoidance system erroneously activated causing the vehicle to abruptly stop in the middle of the highway. During the failure, there were no other vehicles or objects nearby to cause the system to activate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 10,000.
My wife was driving her brand new Nissan Rogue 2020, she was headed to work and it was snowing. As she was driving down the road the automated emergency braking system literally slammed on the brakes at full force making her slip and go over a curb, my wife did not even touch the brakes all she had time to do was brace for the crash. If this would have happened on the highway I would not have a wife right now this happened on 01/27/2021. The collision system of the vehicle caused this due to what the vehicle itself is saying malfunction in the front and rear collision systems. She was scared to death the collision system is supposed to stop accidents not cause them. I have a claim number with Nissan as well for this 42975710. My vehicles rim is cracked, inner tie rods broke, the collision system will not let me drive the car as when I start moving it the brakes engage immediately its making a horrible shaking noise like its stalling and I can hear the brakes engaging and trying to actively stop the vehicle. I do not want my wife or anyone driving this car. This is super dangerous and I want those sensors either removed or Nissan will have to pay for my car so I can get a new one this could kill thousands of people if its not corrected. I have video and photo proof of this.
Several ocasions my 2020 Nissan Rogue will unexpectedly break while driving. I took the vehicle to my local dealer for service. They told me they hooked it up to a diagnostic computer and no issues were found. I left in the car with no repair done. Over the next two weeks the vehicle had several unexpected breaking occurrences. I contacted the dealer and spoke to the service manager. He told me he needed the vehicle for two days and when could I bring it in. We agreed on a date and the vehicle was dropped off. During the time between contact and the appoitment I found Nissan technical bulletin TSB ntb18-041c which is a TSB about false activation of the aeb system. I brought this to the service manager attention and he said he would look into it. I dropped the vehicle off and he had his master technician look at the vehicle. I was told that they drove the vehicle and found no issues. The diagnostic computer showed no error codes. When I asked about the TSB I was told that it did not apply to my vehicle. I was told to keep a log of when and where the false activation events happened and there was nothing else they could do. I have attached the TSB to this complaint. With no resolution to this safety issue from the dealer and nowhere else to turn for help I am now very hesitant to drive this vehicle due to the fact that the vehicle may stop at any time and could cause a crash.
