While driving on 10/12/2020 and again on 10/17/2020, the vehicle unexpectedly braked to a complete stop without warning. The front end collision warning lit up on the dashboard indicating that the front end collision sensor was activated. There were no vehicles or objects in front of the vehicle during either incident on the straight highway. Since the vehicle was on the highway (55 mph), it caused the drivers body to be pushed forward onto the seatbelt. The driver experienced significant discomfort after each event. Luckily there were no vehicles behind me as the Rogue came to a complete stop. After the vehicle stopped, the front collision light went out and the vehicle was able to be driven as normal.
Tl- the contact owns a 2020 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, when the assist emergency braking where applied independently. The contact stated assist emergency braking( aeb) warning light was illuminated. The contact stated the vehicle began to decelerate it's speed and the warning light disappeared. The contact stated he was able to continue to drive to his destination. The contact stated he and his wife had experience the failure 4-5 times in inclement weather. The vehicle was taken to local dealer beau townsend Nissan located at 1050 w national rd, vandalia, OH 45377, where it was diagnosed with front sensor was dirty and needing to be cleaned. The vehicle had been repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 21,000. Dp.
