The contact owns a 2021 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated while driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle suddenly stopped in the middle of the roadway. The contact exited the vehicle to inspect the vehicle and discovered that the front driver’s and passenger’s side wheels were pointed inward. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer who diagnosed the vehicle and determined that the tie rods had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The contact was made aware of NHTSA action number: pe24020 (steering) and related the failure to the NHTSA action number. The failure mileage was 52,000.

The contact stated while his wife was pulling out of the parking lot, the steering wheel suddenly pulled to the right and the front passenger's side tire was misaligned. The contact stated that the vehicle became undrivable. Several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was repaired and a wheel alignment was performed; however, the steering wheel did not completely return to center position. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, and informed the contact that the repair was not covered under warranty because the dealer had informed them that the failure occurred due to an impact; however, the contact stated that there was no impact. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 16,655.
