Vehicle shut off completely and without prior warning while traveling on the highway. This problem occurred on several occasions. Dealer was aware of the problem. Several repair attempts were made but none of them were successful. Noise came from the right wheel area while driving. The dealer replaced all wheels per a safety campaign. The inside door handle was loose. The dealer replaced the door pad but that didn't remedy the problem. The rear passenger side bumper was loose. The dealer secured it. The radio was inoperative. The dealer special order a new radio. The right front window was inoperative from the main switch.
While driving at 30 mph, the front wheel disconnected from vehicle. Recall repairs on the steel wheels were done on January 10, 2002. There was no accident or injuries.
Consumer received recall notice 01v277000/ manufacturer's recall r1005/3, and took vehicle to dealer. Dealer urged consumer to bring vehicle back on December 31,2001 to check wheel. When calling dealership for repairs, dealership indicated would not service vehicle.
Received recall notice 01v277000/steel wheels. Contacted dealership and was informed no parts were available. Received letter from manufacturer indicating parts were available and dealership will repair. Contacted dealership second time and was informed again no parts were available.
Consumer was told by the dealer that recall ovi-277 would only be performed if cracks were evident in the wheels, if not the wheel could not be replaced until Dec, the consumer is not satisfied.
Consumer was informed that the wheel had a manufacturing defect. When vehicle arrived for inspection, consumer was informed that everything was okay, but the dealership did not have replacement wheels. Shortly thereafter, the tire tore apart (separating in half in the diameter of the holes) releasing the front tire at 55 mph causing extensive damage to vehicle.
