I believe my can sensor and crank sensor need to be replaced and there was a recall for this complaint before.

The diagnosis was that the pre-catalyst was damaged and clogged and needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. 6 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 06/08/2010

Car stalled after coming up to stop sign. This has happened a few times. I heard it could be a crankshaft position sensor failure. Are there any recalls on this particular part? July 1st 2013, my blower knob did not turn on until I reached position #4--the rest do not work, so I cannot control heating, cooling or defrosting. Any recalls on a blower heat resistor failure? September 2010, intermittent speed control accelerating on its own--ongoing problem. July 3rd 2013, heat shield broke in two. Are any of these conditions on a recall list? if so, where do I go from here, so I can get them fixed? are there any other recalls, such as airbags, etc. ?.

7 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 05/30/2010

Vehicle motor stopped abruptly at highway speeds while continuing to coast. Vehicle also stopped while idling at intersections. Battery maintained full cranking power, but restarting the engine successfully took anywhere from 5- 30 minutes. Abrupt engine stop occurred at a rate occurring between two minutes and an hour of driving. Motor continued to stop on road, leaving car to coast slowly or be braked without power brakes for several days until vehicle was serviced. When car stopped while idled at intersections, it had to be pushed from behind out of the intersection while in neutral gear. To service the vehicle, the dealer service center replaced the crankshaft sensor. This was the same sensor that was replaced under recall campaign 03v455000 during routine maintenance. Since the repair, the car no longer stalls at highway speed. I was informed by the service department of Nissan north America that the recalled part replacement is not under recall and the bill for replacement of the crankshaft sensor will not be reimbursed. As such, the replaced crankshaft sensor appears to have the same grounds for recall as the original part that was recalled. The defective crankshaft sensor was discarded by the local Nissan dealer service center after the repair was made.

Yesterday while driving my 2002 Nissan Sentra my vehicle stalled while driving at approx. 40 mph. Luckily there was little traffic and I was able to manuever into a parking lot after crossing 3 lanes. The car would not restart. After having it towed to the Nissan dealer they said the problem was the crankshft position sensor. After doing some research on the web I noticed a recall for the same issue on the 2000 Nissan Sentra (NHTSA campaign id number: 01v357000). You would think this issue would have been corrected after 2 model years.

18 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2003

2002 Nissan Sentra gxe would stall while driving after braking at high speeds exiting off highway (60-70 mph). The vehicle would shake and the "service engine soon" light would display on the dashboard. The first time occurred at 2 weeks after I purchased the vehicle new with only 600 miles on it! this has occurred over 3 times. The 3rd time resulted in an accident. The Nissan dealership has serviced the vehicle and stated that they could not "duplicate" the problem. The Nissan consumer affairs and Nissan arbitration has tested the vehicle and stated that they could not duplicate the problem. This model seems to have the same problems in 2000 and 2001. Is it not obvious that Nissan has a continuous problem with this model.

19 Car Stall problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2002

While driving at any speed and without prior warning, the vehicle stalled intermittently. While driving 35-45 mph the vehicle jerked when shifting gears. While stopped at a red lights the vehicle has stalled numerous times. One time it stalled four times within one mile. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The consumer retrieved the vehicle from the dealer and continued to drive it all winter with no problems. When the weather became warm the vehicle began to stall again. The dealer was still unable to duplicate or correct the stalling problem. The consumer is afraid to drive the vehicle.
