Hello, my daughter was involved in a motor vehicle accident in which the driver side airbag deployed. She developed some deep cuts on her head and I believe a fracture. I am concerned that her car might be part of the takata airbag recall because I believe that there were pieces of metal from the airbag that caused the deep cuts on her head. Please investigate this. I don't have any photos right now or police reports, but I can get that information if required. Thanks.
The car was hit in the driver and rear door at approximately 40miles per hour. The side airbag was too forceful causing serious injury to eye and burns mark. We feel the airbag was more harm than good, at the point of almost losing eyesight in one eye.
The contact owns a 2011 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that the vehicle was parked and shut off when she closed the front driver's door and all of the side air bags deployed. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and the contact was informed that the failure was due to a manufacturers defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 31,892.
