general problems of the 2012 Nissan Sentra

Car stalled no power in gas pedal traveling across for lane traffic just lost power to the gas pedal. Was able to pull over and tuned off car after a few minutes of sitting power was restore and was able to drive again I have been told this is a transmission issue I am not sure but defiantly a safety issue losing power like that.

Transmission died. For a few weeks, the transmission will randomly have a high whine at about 55mph, sometimes hard shifting or high revving when I feel it should have shifted. A mechanic told me the cvt transmission wasn't good and would eventually need replacement. As I made a left turn, the car started jerking and lunging. The vehicle behind had to stop fast to avoid hitting me. I was almost stranded in the intersection, but was able to limp the car out of traffic. No warning lights. I had the car towed home. I am trying to sell it as is.

When driving at 70 or above mph for a long distances, speed automatically declines to 60 mph and will not increase. When trying to accelerate, nothing happens. After a few miles, my vehicle then starts to accelerate on its own. The problem is extremely unsafe and frightening, especially with express highway traveling. Ive traveled out of state and the past 6 months when I've moticed this now frequent problem. I informed my mechanic who said it could be my transmission or possibly fuel pump, which are not his areas. He advised talk to Nissan and stated Nissan is known for faultly transmission s on Sentras. Mines is a 2012 with only 126k of mileage. Was was there no recalls on this? I will now see what dealer has to say. What can be done to hold Nissan responsible? I 've screenshot an article regarding many complaints on this. Now my transmission seems to have my engine feeling like it is not in drive gear. I am making an appointment w/ Nissan ASAP. Please respond.

When approaching a red light and stopping quickly, the car completely stopped even though I was going 10 miles per hour at 1000 rpm, traction control light, oil light, battery light and seat belt light all turned on. The only way to get the car to move was to turn it off and turn it back on. This happened a second time while returning to our home. As I was getting off the interstate and stopping for another vehicle, the same thing happened again. It seems to do this with a hard stop at 1000 rmp or 10-20 mph.

Every now and then the airbag light with start flashing. But now it's been every time I turn the car on. I've never been in an accident.

2012 Nissan Sentra was bought 3 weeks prior with no problems. While traveling 60 - 70 mph on a highway the car suddenly stop running and the power steering went out and the vehicle was unable to steer out of the troubled area on the highway. The vehicle broke down in the middle of a highway. After research it seem to be the same actions that has happened to thousands of other Nissan Sentras. The defected cvt transmission causes this to happen. Luckily my son was not killed during a accident that was caused after he was rear ended and the vehicle was totaled.

Cannot move car out of park.

The sunroof exploded while driving on a suburban street on 7/12/2019. No stones were involved.

While driving my car will just shut off. It also will shutoff while stopped at a red light. I have taken it to a couple of shops and their test say bad oxygen sensor so I had it replaced, but this has not fixed the issue.

Pulled into gas station and when trying to leave the car wouldn't shift into gear. It was locked into park and had to call a tow truck. Seen on car complaints . Com that Nissan owners had contacted Nissan and they said Nissan wasn't going to do anything about it.

Rainy night 55 mph crash. Air bags did not deploy. Wet road, car ran off road, hit a sign post, went down embankment, flipped and rolled over into ditch. Daughter was seriously injured. . . 4 broken lower back vertebrae, 9 broken ribs, numerous pelvic fractures, lacerated spleen and kidney. Seems like these injuries could have been much less severe if the airbags would have deployed.

My Nissan Sentra has 85,000 miles on it and my transmission is completely broken. The cvt transmission they put in my car has an extended warranty in it for known problems with it. I was driving with my two small children on a very busy highway when it stopped moving and I had to pull over and restart it. When I restarted the vehicle t again would not move. I finally got it to move to where I got to a mechanic and they told me my transmission was completely broken. I took it to Nissan and they are not going to help my fix it 100% fully knowing that the cvt transmission they put in the car has problems. I spoke with Nissan customer affairs and they told me that because my car is out of their warranty there is nothing they can do to help me when this is not my fault. They keep producing cars that have this transmission in it and keep having to replace it except for my car. I have two small children that I need a car for. I have a loan out for the car that now I have to pay for that does not work! I can not afford to fix the transmission that Nissan put in that is known to fault out!.

I have had my 2012 Sentra for 1 month 1/2 and twice on long distance trips the car had slowed down. Going 80 slowed to 50 and the gas pedal was to the floor. Both times I've had to safely pull off three freeway and sit on the side of the freeway for a 1/2 hour. This is very disappointing otherwise the car is good.

While driving on the highway to go to work, the transmission went out. When I tried to accelerate, the car would rev but wouldn't go faster. Luckily, I was able to slow down enough, put on my hazards and stop without being hit by oncoming traffic. Had a cop not been nearby when it happened, I could have been. I had to wait in the middle of the highway for an emergency assistance response man to come and push my car to the side of the highway. Then, to add insult to injury, I had to wait 5 and a half hours for a tow truck to come and take my car to a shop.

2012 Nissan Sentra started malfunctioning with battery replacement on March 25, 2015 at hanlees Nissan in davis, CA, where I had purchased the vehicle in sept 2013 and where I had most service performed while I owned the vehicle. I commuted 1. 5 hours each way for a new job in rohnert park and I was becoming ill. Unable to locate housing in the area I was unable to keep the job for more than 2 weeks. I suspect foul play with the davis service department. Car started having a loud clicking sound at just less than 30mph. Davis serviced car for two more years. They cannot provide a duplicate sales contract saying it is lost. Davis referred me to kim at fairfield Nissan and she told me it is missing. This difficulty should not exist. I asked lienholder crb auto/mechanics bank to provide a copy and I have yet to receive. I made multiple attempts to have my car assessed at Nissan davis, vacaville, north bay Nissan in petaluma (replaced catalytic converter 7-31-17 60, 000 miles) problem not corrected. Vehicle now developed extremely poor gas mileage. I continued to get sicker. I had been illegally evicted from my rental home at 7172 yolano road, dixon, CA 95620 June 3, 2017 with harsh bullying against law in concert with the solano county sheriff's (ongoing investigation) I had had the vehicle towed to davis prior to leaving that address. I told them I got really ill when driving the car. They refused diagnostic work and recommended cleaning detail of car at my expense. Did poor job and had to repeat. Once homeless, I was in the car, relocated to marin county and continued to deteriorate in health. (er visits to document). Mileage had been 35-40 mpg decreased to15-20 mpg. Had vehicle towed to sf Nissan on 10-3-17 and they reset all codes, could find nothing wrong. Car impounded in dt sf on 10-6-17; robbed of impound $500 cash and belongings on 10-10-17. Please help.

Vehicle has trouble accelerating and while accelerating its began making noises with the transmission after going 70 mph or more. At times it shakes as I begin accelerating. I just bought this vehivle and it has only 46000 miles.

Car left running in parking lot after getting out. My problem is different from many but there are still many like me. The car runs so quietly, which is a plus, but in my case it has happened that I leave my car and it is still running and I don't know it. I have a severe hearing loss and depend on visual clues. I wish there were some way to put a light somewhere to alert me. I worry that the next time I will leave the car in my garage still running and then never wake up the next morning from CO poisoning. I am an older person and prone to forgetting to check everything before leaving the car. What can be done? this is serious! this has happened two times in the past 6 months.

I've had the car for a while, about 4 months ago the oil light cam on I figured it just meant I was running low, I've never been in accident but some how my oil line is leaking.

I have had my car for just over 2 years. I bought it used for business trips mostly. I drove it for the first time on a long distance business trip and 3 hours into trip it stopped accelerating over 70 miles an hour. This continueed the entire way to my final destination. No lights came on, no sounds or smells either. Once I was in town driving on normal roads it was fine again. Then I drove it back home, same thing happened but more extreme. I took it to the Nissan dealership in boulder colorado. In doing so I found out that all Nissans had a warrenty recall to put in a cvt cooler part. A feature that all Nissans need to insure the possibilty of long distance travel without the transmission over heating and not accelerating properly. The dealership then informed me that it would have been covered if I had brought it in before it was over 60,000 miles. Now that it is howevr, it is my responsibility to pay over $800 for a part my car should have come with. I called Nissan noth America to find resalution, they closed the case and will not help me. I find this extremely unexceptable and dangerous. As a single 31 yr old woman, I could have been stranded in corn fields in the middle of kansas in the dark had my transmission failed unexpectedly. I purchased this car at 40,000 miles two yrs ago, it should have had that part put in before it left the lot. I will not accept this and am hoping to find some support in getting Nissan to cover parts and labor for this issue. Please let me know your thoughts and how I should proceed from here. Thank you.

When coming to a complete stop and accelarating less than 1/4 mile after stopping the vehicle lost power and I had to quickly pull to the side of the road. I turned the vehicle off after stopping and tried to start again, and it just turned over but wouldn't stay started. After about 3 minutes I turned the ac off and tried to start the vehicle again and it started. Now I am afraid that this will happen again and I have lost confidence in it's safety. My used car warranty has expired and I am not able to have the car checked. It's been about a week now and I have not had it happen again. However, now the low tire pressure light has come on and I will have to have that checked. I heard that these problems has happened other 2012 Nissan Sentras, but there is no recalled as of yet.

I was driving and my sunroof glass shattered. No cars in front of me and nothing fell on it. The glass shattered for no reason .

After going to the bank we stopped for breakfast. . . . . It was about 40 degrees and light snow was falling. . . . . While eating our sun roof exploded. . . . . . It had a cone shape upwards and glass was all around on the roof and hood of the veh. . . . . Veh was parked lucky for us. . . . . . But it sounded like a gun shot and glass went flyig. . . . .

My sunroof exploded on my 2012 Nissan Sentra. It was parked in my driveway and all the sudden it just exploded. There was no reason for this to happen. No one was around it, no rocks , limbs, hail, no bad weather, or anything.

In the first incident, I came out from seeing a movie and I could not get my car out of park. A friend came to try to help and got it into neutral but it would not shift any further. The problem turned out to be the key release cable. I had a problem again in early November at approx 36,500 miles. This time the key would not come out of the ignition. Same key release cable was the problem. Even now the car still makes a clunking noise under the driver's seat and the key seems to scrape as it comes out of the ignition. Sometimes I pull the key out (and there is the scraping noise) and the doors do not unlock.

Spouse parked and waiting in the car at airport arrival curb around 8:30pm. As I was walking towards the car, I heard a loud explosion, sounded like a gunshot. Then I noticed the car sunroof pieces shattered all over. No cars passing by. Temp around 90f. Luckily no passengers close by to the car. Spouse was in shock and luckily the sunroof cover was closed. I could not find a cause other than suspecting this is a vehicle manufacturing defect. The only damage part was sunroof itself. This is a serious safety issue that deem a safety recall of sunroof replacement. Luckily no one was injured. Reported the issue to Nissan consumer affair and waiting to hear back from them.

I was driving in the center lane of a 3 lane highway when I heard an explosion and felt something hit me and realized by sunroof shattered and the glass came down on top of me. I pulled over when I could and could not find a cause for this. The only thing damaged was the sunroof itself. I did not have the visor closed so it covered me in glass plus I still feel the impact from either the spray or just the force on my right head,ear, and shoulder. No cuts, just sore. Outside temp was about 55-60 and I had driven about 20 miles so the cabin was comfortable. I was not around any trucks nor did I drive under an overpass. No explanation other than it exploding by itself.

Shifter assembly binding. Of course it is not under warranty. Dealership will not investigate why it is binding. They just want to replace it for $637. 00. It had only 56,000 miles when I drove it into the service department for the diagnosis. I purchased an extended warranty because I bought the car when it had 46,000 plus miles. It is a 2012 make. I am researching on the computer to see what could be the cause of the binding problem. Had a previous Nissan in the early ninety's and no problem.

Upon accelerating the car makes a awful clunking noise that is not only heard but felt on the floor under your feet this happens often. The dealer stated this was normal. I pressed the gas pedal while switching lanes and the engine revved up, but the car did not move. It took the transmission several seconds to catch up to the engine.

I was driving my Nissan Sentra over I-25 and suddenly moon roof exploded. I heard a gunshot and glasses flying. This is a serious safety issue and Nissan must issue recall or replacement for all affected vehicles. It sounds like vehicle manufacturing defect. I read several forums on internet and came to know that several people experienced the same issue with several other cars.

Since purchasing the car new in 2012 upon accelerating after first starting and going about half a mile car makes a clunking noise. Does this all the time after first starting and taking off and can be felt under the driver's side floorboard when it happens. The dealership took it for a test ride and said it is normal in Sentra models, but they never checked the bushings to diagnose the source of the problem. It could be in the suspension, transmission, or the drive train.
