We bought our daughter a new 2013 Nissan Sentra. It was serviced regularly at our Nissan dealer. On October 18th, my daughter was driving home from a friend's house on local streets. She smelled fuel, the controls on the dashboard went haywire and all systems on the car started shutting down. She pulled the car over, put her emergency brakes on, turned the car off and got away from the car. She watched as her car went on fire. We notified Nissan and they told us that because they found no manufacturing defects, there was nothing more they could do. How does a 5 year, well maintained, 48,000 mile car just set fire with no warning? how was this vehicle not part of the March 2013 recall? how can Nissan not stand behind their products? most importantly, how can they not give us an answer to why my daughter's car set on fire? is this usual? is the life expectancy of a car only 5 years now? are these car manufacturer's not being held to any standards? do I have to be concerned with my other 2 children's Nissan cars? my son's car is a 2013 Nissan altima bought at the same time we bought the 2013 Nissan Sentra. Our other car is a 2014 Nissan Sentra (also manufactured at the same plant as the other Nissan Sentra, a year later). We purchased it used two months ago from our local dealer and already had the transmission replaced. How come these manufacturer's are getting away with putting out faulty products and not being held accountable when there's a problem with the car? besides not having a car for 8 weeks, my daughter suffers from anxiety when she's in a car and has nightmares about being in a burning car. This is so totally unacceptable. I contact someone at the NHTSA when it first happened and they told me to get in touch with Nissan. Here we are 9 weeks later and not sure what to do next. Can you please give me some advice? 407-383-8548. Thankyou.
As I was going 60mph on a highway with high traffic my car started to slow down no matter how much I stepped on the peddle. I made it to the shoulder and attempted to make the car go by shifting the gears. After a couple minutes I was able to move. Another time it happened I was crossing intersection speed limit is 35. It started to loose power and I barley made it past the intersection. My Nissan dealer states it isn't my transmission. I have ready multiple complaints like mine about Nissan cvt transmission. It's dangerous to be driving a car like that.
Stalling when I am driving along the highway. I have to tap the gas twice for it to start back.
Takata recall. Transmission went out without showing codes. . Nissan kept saying it was nothing wrong with car but the car was stalling and pulling at times in the middle of making a turn on city streets the car wouldnt go. . No check engine light never came on. So it took months of them refusing to fix and my warranty company to actually fix the problem. Also, the master break cylinder went out without notice. I have had many mechanics look at car and say that my car has very little miles for this to happen so soon. . While driving on main roads and highways the brake pad will go all the way to floor. When at a red light and stop sign or any time I am at a stop the car keeps moving with brade pad on floor of car. .
Transmission is acting like it wants to not shift on time. It hesitated and will even revup without me accelerating on the highway.
My car has a cvt transmission and Nissan knows that these cars at around 70,000 miles, the transmission starts acting up. I noticed that my car felt a little different whenever I was driving it but just thought it was my impression. As my husband was driving it with my two kids in the car, the car shut off while at a stop sign. In the highway it jerks, speeds and slows down at various times unannounced which makes it very unsafe to drive. I contacted Nissan about it and was told that I need a $4000 transmission that they would've replaced for free, but unfortunately I happen to be 1800 miles over what the book states. If I knew that my car had a transmission that is no good that puts me and my family in danger I would've brought my car in to the dealership a long time ago. But I didn't know as there is no recall at this point.
I was driving my 2013 Nissan Sentra on the interstate. . It started jumping and jerking. . I took it to a garage and had the spark plugs checked because I thought that could be the problem. . Was told plugs were fine. Tried to drive it home and it jumped and jerked worse. . Had no power at all. . Would not go over 40 mph. . Had to have it towed to Nissan dealership. . There are no lights on so they tell me they don't know what the problem is. My car has been there for over a week and they haven't done anything to it because it's not showing a code. . This car only has a little over 61,000 miles and shouldn't be having serious problems. . Now I am paying for a car that's not drive able. . I am now scared to drive the car because I'm afraid of being in an accident. . Someone needs to do something about Nissan selling these unsafe cars. .
While attempting braking and braking the car stalls. All lights turn on and vehicle dies. Sometimes restarts after stall other times it takes awhile to restart while on the roads. This a safety hazard! it is currently parked not functioning properly.
My vehicle has had ongoing issues with acceleration and the rpms going past what it should under normal circumstances. This issue occurs specifically when I accelerate. On January 21, 2018, as I was merging on to the highway trying to accelerate, my speed would not increase initially and my rpms were past 5. This is extremely dangerous and concerning as I was told by Nissan that my transmission is in proper working order after having been replaced once already. My car doesn't function properly and I went to a transmission specialist who also said that my transmission is slipping. I presented this information to the Nissan specialist who stated it wasn't and it is fine. However, I've had instances where the vehicle does not operate the way it should under normal conditions and prior to having transmission problems.
While driving my car down the highway at 70mph the car jumps at 4k rpmthen starts jump badly so I left off gas and re applied the gas still 4k rpm and whinnin badly I finally make it home next day started the car and whinninh still come from transmission area car had 113k miles but has act up previously and had went away came back now it at a shop cause the transmission will not pull the worst car I have ever owned Nissan needs to recall these cars or be responsible for it someone going to get hurt with this transmission and if my car cause a wreck with my 3 year old 2 year old law suit action will be not be taken lightly. 2000-2010 they gave extended warranty too 120k what about your new ones with only 60k warranty shameless I'll take a hit if it can't be fixed and my job is at risk cause of there junk no Nissan for me ever again.
Trasmicion.
Vehicle will not change shift gears unless the shift lock button is used.
First is was the a/c went out frist then the transmission problem when me my husband was headed to work one day the a eighteen wheeler almost ram into use because the stop in the middle of traffic and wouldn't go any where.
Problems with transmission.
Cvt transmission went out on vehicle while on the road. I only had 76,000 miles on the vehicle at the time.
My car stalls when accelerating from a slow down or stop. It start the end of 2016 but it was once every few weeks. I took it to the Nissan dealership in oxford ms in 2017 and had it tested and was told nothing was wrong with it. It is much worse now. It use to be a couple times a month at first now it happens on at least half of the accelerations from being stopped or slowed especially if you try to accelerate quickly. I have read about other cars having this problem. The have issued a bulletin for it to be tested and repaired at my cost. This should be Nissan's expense plus any damage it has cost with me driving it this way for 50,00 miles after they said it was anything to be fixed. This is going to get someone killed. This started at 52,000 miles now it has 99,000 miles it was tested at 56,000 miles.
I was driving on the interstate on may 6, 2016 at the speed limit (70 mph) when I heard a loud explosion that would compare to a shotgun blast. There were no other vehicles on the road ahead of me less than 1/8 mile. I pulled over to the side of the expressway to inspect my car. The glass in the sunroof appeared to have exploded. There was no other apparent damage. I took my car to the dealership and after inspection, they said they could not determine what caused the damage and that my warranty had expired, therefore, there was nothing they could do. This caused no accident or injuries. My inside sunroof cover was in the closed position.
Starting when I drove it home from dealers, the rpms go up and down all the time while driving no matter what the speed. I am taking it back to dealing next week for a check up. Is this a common complaint?.
I hit a metal barrier at 75 mph on the highway not one airbag deployed. I have had 2 surgeries significant brain damage and memory loss. Nissan won't even acknowledge there was a problem. Also transmission blew at less than 36000 miles mostly highway.
Total trans mission failure 2 times. Once at 60k miles, covered under extended warranty. I went in before warranty was over and complained about my transmission. They ran a test and said it was fine and sent me home. Told me that was the way it drives and it's fine. I dont even think they drove it or they would have known what I was talking about.
As I was driving my car began to jerk. I could not gain any speed and almost cause two accifemts because of the way it jerked.
While driving the vehicle, the accelerator pedal can suddenly become unresponsive, causing the vehicle to lose speed and the engine to slow or nearly stall. This happens frequently when driving, at all speeds from a standing stop to highway speed. This issue sounds very similar to the recall for 908,000 Nissan vehicles for accelerator pedal problems in early 2013. I think that recall needs to be expanded to Nissan models sold in the USA. I have had the car in for service at my local Nissan dealership twice for this issue so far, and the problem has not been corrected.
The car when is in a complete stop, makes a laud sound. The vehicle does not want to come out of gear. The shifter get lock, it gets really hard to change the gears from (p to d) is has happen multiple time more than 30 times. I went to planet Nissan on centennial blvd, las vegas nv, the first time late December I show the worker. I show him a video of the problem, the video you can hear and see when the drive handle gets stuck or lock. He told me that the car should not make that sound, and he order the part for it (the shifter). He said yes and he schedule a appointment for 1/21/15 8:00. When I pick my car up,I went home and park my car in the driveway it made the sound again, then I park the car in the street, and then made the sound again and the drive handle got lock. I had to take the car back test drive it with the worker and he said it was normal. That all cars make that sound when they are park in a hill. I told him my driveway is not a hill and the street where I park my car everyday is not a hill, where I park at work is not a hill, I was unhappy and I don't feel safe driving this car, I don't know what to do at this point. They don't want to take the car for service because they don't see a visible problem or they never found a problem when they replace the shifter and verified the fix. My sister has the same car just 2014 one year difference and she parks her car in the drive way all the time and is fine. I fell like is the transmission or gears I don't know. My car is in the warranty I even pay extra 1 year warranty. This people just give me the turn around and they don't want to check my car. I don't know what to do, why? why? are they no't fixing this problem. What can I do? I know this car has a problem and they refuse to help me. My car has only 13752 miles. Please help what can I do?.
Windshield fluid does not spray correctly as it should. It goes to the bottom of the windshield. At times I have to pull over and spray fluid ( yes. . . I have to carry a spray bottle with me) to ensure the windshield is clear on days that it is needed. On the other issue, steering lock after taking out the key doesnt work. Light bulb on shift stick doesnt work. Can't see the gear selection at night.
Exploded sunroof I woke up one morning to a completely shattered sunroof. The sunroof was blown up. I called the insurance company and they explained they never heard of this happening before. I also contacted the Nissan dealership in which I purchased the vehicle from and they also never heard of this happening before. I was asked to drive the vehicle to the dealership which then the sunroof then blew out. When I arrived at the dealership there was a hole in the sunroof. I got most of the damage covered by my insurance but this should of been covered by Nissan as this is a defect in the sunroof.
The morning started off with having problems with esf lght, and hand brake light even though hand brake was not applied. I tried to pull over many times, and fix lights but nothing worked. I was at a red light, then it turned green and street traffic proceededd to drive forward but a car 3 cars in front of me stopped abruptly. The car in front of me , had enough time to stop , but my Nissan Sentra hit the back of the car in front of me. I think that the car and its systems malfunctioned and I would like it investigated , because my accident could have been avoided. I am hurt from this accident, and so is the driver from the car in front of me.
Car stalls in the freeway 3 times with no apparent reason. Took it to dealership and they said it was to hot and the cars stalls. Finally sold it to afraid to drive it. Car only had 10,000 thousand miles. This car is a lemon car. I almost got killed twice. Just stall in the middle of the freeway. Notified dealership and they did not care.
I have also been experiencing the loud grinding noise from the rear brakes. I took the car in today for its first oil change and showed the technician the issue. I also have a problem with the a/c not cooling. There have been a couple of times while driving when the a/c starts to blow warm air for a long time and then randomly starts to cool again. Hopefully the dealership can get it fixed without causing any additional grief! the car has been driven less than 5,000 miles!.
Takata recall. When yu take off & it gets up in speed the car jerk. When you stop at a red light or stop sign & then go, it jerk like it's trying to take off. But it barely move & jerk pretty hard. It seem like the car transmission is not changing out. While the car is jerking when you take off. It's like the idles up & down. When you brake it sounds like you walking on squeaky hard wood floor. The airbag does not work at all. I.
When I am stopped at a light, the car seems to creep forward when brake pedal depressed. I need to continually apply more pressure and the pedal becomes spongy. Also, I now notice that when stopped or going slow, engine fumes are coming from my air/heating vents. Don't know if its exhaust or an oil leak somewhere. Car only has 400 miles on it and I've had car since end of February 2013.
