general problems of the 2014 Nissan Sentra - part 1

While driving, I noticed smoke coming from the front of the vehicle. Within moments, flames appeared in the engine area and spread quickly, causing severe damage to the front portion of the car including the engine, electrical system, and body. No warning lamps, error messages, or unusual behavior were observed prior to the incident. The fire started suddenly without any indication of mechanical or electrical issues. My safety and the safety of others nearby were put at risk as the fire escalated rapidly. The problem has not been reproduced or inspected by the manufacturer or dealer yet, but the vehicle was completely disabled and is no longer operable due to the fire damage. Cause of the fire is unknown at this time.

While I’m driving it starts to stall. Especially after I press on the breaks and try to press on the gas again it being ins to like jerk and not want to go. I thought it was my suspension or that it needed a wheel alignment but after paying for those to get renewed it’s still having that problem and the mechanic said it was most likely the transmission.

I've looked up the years of my vehicle and the year 2014 falls within transmission problems. Cvt to be exact. My transmission just went out and zero chance of fixing. $5000 minimum. Cut has been known to have faults.

The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. While driving, the vehicle started to stall. The brake pedal was depressed but the vehicle was slow to respond. The manufacturer was contacted and a complaint was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.

Entire car needs repairs problems with starting.

Car slips and jerks when accelerating at any speed as low as 10 mph. Check engine light came on, code is transmission failure. The code came on before routine maintenance was required. The car was not fixed and should have not had this issue happen.

Transmission failure in under 3 years. I replaced my transmission and rear assembly in 2022-23. It started with pressing the gas pedal and the car wouldn’t accelerate while in heavy traffic. I spent over $3,000 on a brand new engine. Come 2024 the exact same problem with the repair price being quoted at around $7,000. There was no hard driving on the car so I don’t understand how it’s going so soon. I’ve never had so much trouble with a car.

I driving but running down and my engineer light show up can't moves can't put the steering. . . I tried put button off and on for running but not. . I praying god,it running to my apartment 1386 cout memphis TN 38104. And it death right on road apartment. . The morning I tried to running to dealer car check it. . They said gearbox death the car need change . I said I will running back to my apartment and call let your guy know because my car just: 66. 080 miles. It still has warranty engineer. My Nissan Sentra burst into flames on July 27,2022-not sure why this occurred; the car was last serviced before this incident on June 17, 2022-the car's compressor/ac were replaced. I had just parked the car at a hotel when the fire began. The only inspection was from a fire marshal and the insurance company that car was a complete loss. There was no warning when this happened and had I had a full tank of gasoline this would have gravely injured me. The car had seven years of meticulous upkeep so this catastrophe was totally unexpected. The autos parked on either side of me suffered serious damage as well.

The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.

Car’s engine began to fail and was indicated by rpm meter malfunctioning and car jerking while driving. When breaking and accelerating the car would delay and jerk.

Fireno injuries0 deaths0 the transmission slipping. I would press the gas to try and get the car to move but it would drag the rpm’s kept jumping back and forth causing the car to shake . After making it back my check engine light came on and the car wouldn’t back in once I finally got it home.

The contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated while driving 70 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 40 mph. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and had the vehicle towed to st. Charles Nissan (5625 veterans memorial pkwy, st peters, mo 63376) who diagnosed the failure as moisture entering in the rear lamp causing the vehicle to inadvertently decelerate. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 85,000.

We were driving and would lose power then going up hill it sounded like something popped off. We wouldn't even roll in neutral. It locked completely up and had to push it to break it free. Our machanic checked the fluid and said it was dark dark.

The transmission in my car kept slipping. I would press the gas to try and get the car to accelerate but it would not. The rpm’s kept jumping back and forth causing the car to stutter. After letting it sit for a while it stuttered all the way home. After making it back my check engine light came on and the car would no longer move.

Throttle body malfunctions after 85,000 miles. Loss of power.

When I acel�rate it shakes a little.

Please reference NHTSA issue 11383950 submitted Dec 17, 2020. This is another issue related to the prior submitted Dec 17th. On Dec 26 the engine light came on. The car was taken to the dealer. The dealer asked if we had extended warranty, which we do not, and then took the car in for inspection. That same day we received notification (screenshots attached) that cvt assemply needs to be replaced (est $3800). After looking further online, there are various complaints and recalls regarding this known issue. We were not included in recalls regarding cvt transmission known issues. Please help getting this resolved to our satisfaction.

The car revs high and does not accelerate properly. Also makes rattling noses when going over 55 mph. Transmission is slipping. Attempted to merge onto highway and vehicle did not get up to speed almost causing a collision.

Hi I have 3 issues with my car, it's a 2014 Nissan centra, the first issue is the transmission it's really bad I have already too it to a Nissan dealership an said they fixed the issue but it's still doing the same thing, when you go to take off from a red light or stop sign it wants to hesitate taking off, it spitting and jerks and the transmission doesn't want to change gears, I have a automatic but it acts like a straight shift so when it hesitates I have to push the gas nor to get it to go but if you mash the gas to hard it will take off fast after it spits, it is very dangerous, I have almost slammed into the back of a few vehicles because of this problem, I have tried to pull out from a side road and a car would be coming an I know I have time to get out but when the transmission wants to act crazy an it starts hesitating to go, I have almost been hit several times. That's not all my other issue is with the air conditioner, this is the 3rd time it has went out in the last year, I went and had it serviced an they said it was the air compressor, I took it to pep boys and the guy that looked at it he told me that he has had 47 Nissan centras in the last two months to be serviced for the same reasons, well one day the air conditioning was fine but the next day I went to turn it on and it is blowing nothing but hot air so he checked it and he said the compressor went out again!! the other issue is yesterday I went to get dinner and all of a sudden the engine light came on. And my car doesn't even have 40,000 miles on it yet, I really hope writing to you about these things going wrong will open the Nissan company's eyes before someone actually get killed driving one of their cars. The transmission went out. 2014 manufacture transmission for Nissan Sentra are defected.

Cvt transmission stuttering acceleration, reving and slipping.

The mechanic retrieved fault code: p0101 regarding the map air flow sensor. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

On my way to work this morning December 2019 my car going at around 50 mph stop responding to the gas pedal and I had to quickly pull over in a strip mall so I would not be hit or cause an accident. I had to turn the car off and on again to get going, after that I slowly went to work. This had happened to me on a few occasions already. When I researched it I found out that a lot of people said this is a common occurrence with this year vehicle. This is dangerous.

My 2014 Nissan Sentra engine cuts off while in driving gear for no reason at all and the engine will cut off while trying to restart the car to drive the vehicle. I was on the highway.

I was sitting in traffic at a red light, when the traffic light turned green I pressed the gas petal to drive and my car immediately began to slow down on its own and it just cut off and all of the lights came on. After waiting a few minutes I was able to restart the car to make it home. Also while driving I could feel the car shaking or vibrating, even when I slowed down or came to a stop at a light it was shaking/vibrating, I don't know what this is. I did have my car serviced last month and the engine light was on and the dealership told me there was nothing wrong and wasn't sure why the light was on. It has been a month and my engine light remains on, and I don't know what to do. I worry when driving because I can't help but wonder if my car is going to cut off again while I'm driving and cause an accident, I also worry every time I feel it shake/vibrate thinking its going to cut off. This is very unsafe and worrisome. I hope this issue can be resolved- not a happy Nissan owner right now.

I am terrified. Going up a hill my car loses power and I start coasting around 40mph and struggle to maintain the speed of traffic the highest I can go is 60mph. I have nearly been involved in multiple accidents as a result and often have to find a way to squeezes myself into the he truck lane although they still are able to over take me. My car has 50,000 miles and is well kept but it struggles so much going uphill I can feel the whirring and it's like my transmission is struggling to keep up while everyone passes me and tries to avoid colliding with me as a result of my sudden drop in speed. No matter how hard I press the gas nothing happens and I feel unsafe and feel I am a danger to other drivers on the road. This needs to change. This is unacceptable. I heard they attempted to fix the issue but there has to be something more that can be done. Please look into this. You can even borrow my car if you'd like to test this out. I also feel it may cause excessive overheating.

Tl- the contact owns a 2014 Nissan Sentra. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed and attempted to go up to 60 mph, " it felt like the gear shifted". There was no warning. . The failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to the grand prairie Ford dealer. (972-975-9621, located at 701 e palace pkwy, grand prairie, TX 75050) where the technician stated that "something inside the transmission caused the failure" the manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 77,000. Fe.

As I was driving at night, my 2014 Nissan Sentra started to experience sudden jerkiness and issues with rpm's, acceleration problems as well as an unwillingness to change gears. (this is an automatic). As I researched the issue, Nissan has issued a recall / extended warranty 7year 100,000 mile for Nissans that have the cvt transmission however not all 2014 Nissan Sentra's with the cvt transmission were included.

Cvt needs to be replaced and car isn't even at 80,000miles.

While driving my 2014 Nissan Sentra (66,000 miles) on the highway, I noticed the rpms started fluctuating, followed by difficulty shifting. I exited the highway and came to a full stop. The car was then unable to accelerate. Putting it in park, turning the engine off and on again allowed me to accelerate and drive to a gas station. I called my mechanic, he said it could be contaminated gas, and directed me to find a nearby autozone, where an employee scanned the car and agreed it was contaminated gas. I purchased seafoam and put it in the gas tank, with assurances that this would clear up the issue but the ride may be �bumpy�. I decided to finish my drive to new orleans. Upon entering new orleans and shifting to stop and go traffic, it was apparant the issue had not resolved itself. The vehicle was barely accelerating or shifting. It felt very unsafe to drive through an unknown city. The following morning, I brought it to autozone again, this time the scan showed issues with the transmission. I had a technician reboot the computer, but nothing changed. Not knowing the severity of the issue and being 500+ miles from home and my mechanic, I decided to risk the drive back to nashville, having had everyone at the autozone and my mechanic tell me at 66k miles the transmisson should not need to be services. The car was clearly having issues, but I was able to get it to highway speed. I made it to about 200 miles outside of nashville when it simply became too unsafe for me to continue on the highway. I got a tow 200m home, directly to my mechanic. He inspected the transmission the following day and found the transmission fluid was dangerously low with no sign of leakage. After changing the fluid, he determined the transmission needed to be replaced. I took it into carmax, where I has purchased the vehicle just over a year prior. They came to the same conclusion.

The engine light has been on/off for over a year. I have had it "fix" . Code kept saying massair sensor. Last week I took it in again and they put on an updated clip. And told me the transmission was failing . So I did research and learned that some cars have recalls on this and would be covered til 120,000 miles . They said my VIN was not covered. If this is an universal issues why is it not covered .

Cvt transmission failed, needed replaced after 95,000 miles. The car started shifting hard from a stop and between gears. Four different mechanics, included a Nissan technician, all agreed that it was a bad cvt transmission. Nissan technician looked up extended warranty, which was offered on 2007-2010 models, but has not yet been extended to newer models and therefore could not be applied to my car. I just spent $3800 to get the transmission replaced on a 3 1/2 year old car.

I bought a 2014 Nissan Sentra about 2= months ago they said that the cvt and transmission was faulty and they will not repair it and there are a lot of complaints and recalls on this matter. I still owe 12000 on this car and I am not paying 6000 or something I didn't cause. I am paying for a car that I cant drive.
