Unknown Or Other problem #1

After parking the car following a brief errand, the car caught fire for no apparent reason. Although it was 20 years old, it was in good condition. The entire front of the car burned, it was totaled. It took the fire department about half an hour for the fire to be extinguished.

Unknown Or Other problem #2

Upon accelerating after first starting and going about half a mile car makes a clunking noise like you have ran over something even though you haven't. Does this all the time after first starting and taking off. Also trunk had trouble closing and there seems to be a gap in trunk.

Unknown Or Other problem #3

On Dec. 11, 2011, the car would not start in the morning. Went back in the afternoon and started fine. On Dec. 12, 2011, the car hesitated to start in the morning. Took to dealer and they replaced battery. On Dec. 19, 2011, the car would not start at first and only started when brake was pumped several times, and still hesitated to start. The car would not go faster than 40 mph, with the gas pedal to the floor, and the rpms would not go past 2. After every stop the car took 2 minutes to get back up to 40 mph. Took to the shop, they could not find anything wrong.

Unknown Or Other problem #4

I was at a red light, the light turned green, I pressed the gas pedal but it got stuck and I was not able to drive. There was a car behind me, so I managed to merge to the left using my steering wheel. I continued to press the gas pedal but it was completely stuck, and I was not able to hit the gas pedal to increase the speed of the car to drive away from incoming traffic. I was finally able to cruise the car and merge left. I parked my car in a residential area. I turned the car off. I then manually pulled the gas pedal up away from the floor and managed to unstuck the gas pedal.

Unknown Or Other problem #5

On two occasions while making right turns, the engine failed to operate. The first occurance, the engine restarted and appeard to operate normaly. The second occurance, the engine failed to restart and the vehicle was towed to Nissan maintenance where it was determined that the battery was leaking acid, which was ingested in to the air intake, destroying the air filter and causing severe contamination of the spark plugs and fuel injector system, as well as corrosive damage to the framing. Had this engine failed on the freeway, it would have jeapordized the lives of the occupants. Action is being addressed with the battery manufacturer, but this report is implemented to address the poor design of the vehicle which placed the battery above the air intake, without provisions for containment in the event of such an acid leak. (photos available).

Vehicle failed the mil/check engine light due to obd communications failure. Nissan dealership code reader also unable to communicate with ecm. Possible faulty ecm.

Unknown Or Other problem #7

I purchased the car March 14, 2011 and the vehicle has had issues with making noises and vibrating. I return the vehicle the following week and dealership could find no problems, but referred to Nissan service. On July 29, 2011, my mother moved my car out of a fire line at approximately 20-25 mph. The gas pedal went way to the floor and she attempted to depress the brakes. At that time the pedal traveled more than 3/4 to the floor almost instantly. She did lose control of the vehicle and crushed into a tree to stop the car. She never regained the use of the brakes. I did go to the towng company and took picture where the gas pedal is still in 3/4 inch from the floor. Dj.

Unknown Or Other problem #8

I have the intelligent key system with this car. I was told when I purchased this car that in order to start the car, my foot must be on the brake. You can put the car in auxiliary mode with the foot off the brake but in order to start the car the foot must be on the brake. I discovered that I was able to start my car with my foot off the brake. I took the car in for service to dealer that I purchased the car from. I was subsequently told that with my model car I could start the car with my foot off the brake. I called Nissan since I was getting conflicting information and they informed me that in fact I should not be able to start my car in this manner. They created a file regarding this problem, file #7139963, then I was told that I should take my car in to another dealer and have them look at this problem. I'm not sure if other Sentra owners are having this problem also or whether or not this could become a safety issue (which I would think it could be, especially if a young child was somehow able to start the car and put it in gear) but I figured this should be on record since all Nissan suggested was that I take it to another dealer.

Unknown Or Other problem #9

Rusted exhaust/muffler pipe.

Unknown Or Other problem #10

The vehicle has had issues with abs actuator making noises and vibrating. Dealership could find no problems, but referred to Nissan service bulletin. On February 2, 2011, I was traveling at approximately 20-25 mph. As I approached a red light I attempted to depress my brakes. At that time the pedal traveled more than 3/4 of the way to the floor almost instantly. There was a loud metallic clanking and grinding sound and a very strong vibration coming from under brake pedal. I almost lost control of my vehicle as it pulled to the left and almost traveled into the oncoming lane. After 2-3 seconds I regained the use of my brakes.

Consumer writes in regards to consumer affairs representative for Nissan north America, inc. Refusal to put into writing that his VIN number was not included in an extended warranty notice.

Unknown Or Other problem #12

When I was driving the engine shut off. I could barley turn the steering wheel nor could I brake. I can usually start it right up again but most time's I have to wait a few minute's before it will. This started to happen about a month ago and it seems it's becoming more frequent. The vehical seems to lack power at time's. There is usually no warning it just shuts off, however sometimes it will begine to cut out then usually dies at low speeds. The engine light came on when this started happening and is still on. I've yet to fix the vehical but did find out that it may be the crankshaft possition sensor.

Unknown Or Other problem #13

On major interstate (i85n), coming home for christmas when car cut off all of a sudden without warning. Fortunately I was able to pull off to the shoulder without causing a major accident.

Unknown Or Other problem #14

The dealer failed to make necessary repairs even with scheduled appointment. The appointment for recall repair was made two weeks ago and was confirmed twice that they have the necessary parts. Upon reaching to the dealer service department, they said, the parts are not available and could not perform the recall service. This is at the haldeman Nissan dealership, hamilton, NJ.

Unknown Or Other problem #17

Tire pressure monitoring valve were faulty. Went to buy tires at costco tire center. Told valves were faulty leading to tire light to stay on , on the dashboard. They would not replace tires unless the valves were replaced. Nissan has recallon other models but won't acknowledge my 2008 Sentra I am making this complaint in hopes if enough people complain they would include us in a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #18

Over the past 3 years, I've had my 2002 Nissan Sentra ser spec v into Nissan 15 times for service. They have yet to fix it. Every 1-7 months I have to bring it back. The car has shut off and stalled on me in traffic, which is very dangerous. Unknown Or Other problem #19

On 12/4/09 my car died leaving me stranded. I had it towed to brads auto close to my house for $130. They stated the diagnostic states"crank shaft position sensor" code. The part was put in the vehicle but did not solve the problem, brad's felt part was defective. No other crank sensor was available in city. I had to wait for it to be shipped on Tuesday from the factory. It arrived & was put in and same thing happen. It did not fix the problem. Brad's told me that with the crank sensor that was already in the car it starts up but dies, when the new sensors is added it won't start at all. Brad's researched & found this is a recall on my vehicle. Brad's called Nissan service. A person stated that cam sensor & crank sensor are interchangeable. According to brad's research all data shows they are different. Brad's mention the recall. The service person denied a recall on this vehicle. Brad's stated he had the recall in his hand with the recall number showing it matches my VIN. Brad's contacted me and I called the Nissan service dept. That said all I could do is tow it to them at my expense. My dad reminded that I had a similar incident back in March 2008. On my paperwork. It states the same exact symptoms. It states Nissan replaced the crank shaft sensor and it did not fix the problem then they replaced the ecm. Both of these items are discussed on the invoice as a recall item. In that incident's, it was a Saturday and no service places were open. I found one & towed it there. When he put it on the diagnostic it stated "crank shaft sensor. " he told me it would be cheaper to have Nissan fix it. I paid $71. 00 to have it towed from my house to that shop owner & then another $88 to tow it to Nissan. The new incident is obviously related to the previous. Nissan headquarters stated they would not pay for any tows & they would not absorb charges due to being out of warranty. Nissan's solution is ineffective, & is not part of a warranty. A recall should not cost me anything.

Unknown Or Other problem #20

I have a 2003 Nissan Sentra xe that only have approx. 54,187 miles. There was a recall on Nissan Sentra from 2000until 2003. Nissan says that my car is not in that recall but it has the same problems the recall cars has. They refuse to fix this dangerous problems. The car crank sensor and throttle service is in that recall but they said it did not matter. This problem will cause many problems, whereas the car will not start and the car could also stop while driving which will cause a major accident while driving that could hurt or kill many people. The codes po335 and po462 and the throttle are all in the recall. All Nissan buyer should be aware of this problem. This is an added expense on me and I am unemployed and a senior citizen. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I was stranded for over two hours alone .

Unknown Or Other problem #21

2003 Nissan Sentra had a recall on a sensor, took to the dealership they said it was fine they didn't replace it. Three weeks later the car stop running while my son was driving it, we had it taken to the shop and the sensor was the problem it cost me 340. 00. Two yrs later the sensor is acting up again so I'm going to have to fix it again it will cost another 340. 00.

Cd took cd and would not eject cd. Cd player stopped working. Inner part of passenger side door (section used to pull door closed) comes apart.

Unknown Or Other problem #23

Driving on the highway. Engine check light came on. Car would only do 10 miles per hour on a superhighway - very very dangerous. I was able to drive 2 miles this way on very side of road to side road where I parked. When I started it up again it drove normally. This check engine light is very dangerous. I see there is a lot of trouble with Nissan Sentras. Alot of trouble. It is time for this govt agency to start working for consumers and stop being front men for car companies. The car only has 57000 miles on it. I was scared out of my mind and very frightened. I am 73 years old.

Unknown Or Other problem #24

I currently own a 2008 Nissan Sentra. I have noticed that the rear of my car seems to slide out during winter weather. My tires also seem to wear quicker and my gas mileage is way below the mileage I should be getting. I had the alignment done twice when I first got the car back in 2008 but nothing changed and I just gave up. Recently I have read that many people have this issue but unfortunately my car is out of warranty.

Unknown Or Other problem #25

I took my car in to be service and they did not service it. So I stop payment on the check and they file a complaint against me with the state attorney office they told me it would take about two hours to service my car and they did not service it at all they had charge me over three hundreds dollars. The case # 27671367. I won my case. Now I received this recall notice from you all and I really appreciate it. But I have lost faith in there service, but I am going to take it back to the bill seidles Nissan the dealer where I got it from. I let them know how disappointed I was with there service. I am doubtful about there service. Thank you all so much for looking out for all of us who drive.

Unknown Or Other problem #26

Mechanic reported dipstick missing in 2002 Nissan Sentra. Purchased a new dipstick; when I tried to insert it, I met resistance. Called dealer --still waiting for call back. Looked on internet --hundreds (at least) of consumers describe the same problem. Defective dipsticks break and lead to repairs of $150 - $400 each incident to remove metal stick from engine. Could permanently damage engine. Manufacturer claims no knowledge of problem, though hundreds of consumers on one website have reported their occurrences.

Unknown Or Other problem #27

Drove to work, end of day the vehicle would not go into gear. Called dealer and was told that coke had spilled near the gear shift which stopped it from working. I do not drink coke. I was told that this happens to a lot of ladies car. Bumper to bumper warranty will not cover. Tower came carry car to dealer went inside car, pull up cover unscrewed his pen pushed in hole put car in gear. Told me drive to dealer. Tuesday, was told "coke" in car have to pay $500+. Call service manager explain happens how car was diagnosed with "coke" problem before getting there. Did he test car why it did not go into gear his reply same " you spilled coke now it not work". Wednesday went something in car the manager said was sticky, asked did they check to see what it was they said no. Needed to know if I wanted to fix it or was I going to move it off their lot. Many questions no helpful answers all received was "give me the rental car and remove your car off the lot". I gave him the key ask for statement showing I returned car he said no. Asked for the key back to return car myself. I talked to Nissan manufacture turned complaint over to consumer affairs they made me feel less than a person. Asked did they know this happen to this vehicle they said yes. Why do they not tell people or put info on computer he was very rude. Asked why did I not ask if it was going to be a problem if "coke or something was spilled in the vehicle, he told me an economical vehicle not have luxuries of expensive vehicle. If I wanted a water proof vehicle I should have been able of purchasing a more expensive vehicle. I was hurt and asked why did they not have vehicle recalled cup holders in front of the gear shift. No one listen. Gear shift not working properly void emergency brake, have to crank in neutral. On incline car will roll backward out of control not yet no one has been kill yet I was told. Pray no one get kill before this is look into as a serious matter.

Unknown Or Other problem #28

I leased a new Nissan Sentra in March '06. In November of '06 I moved and started parking downhill. It has leaked ever since into the driver side floor. The service department at the dealership have tried to fix the problem now for 8 weeks and it continues to leak. The manufacturer and dealer continue to tell me they are still trying to find the problem.

Unknown Or Other problem #29

I bought my 2006 Nissan Sentra in may 2006, and the glove compartment continues to fall out. In all the cars that I have had, I never had a glove compartment fall out.

Unknown Or Other problem #30

Dip stick of a 2002 Nissan Sentra gxe has snapped off at the plastic handle and is now lodged in my oil tank. From what I have researched, this is a pretty common occurrence, resulting in high dealership charges and severe engine problems, including engine failure. Great work Nissan!.

Unknown Or Other problem #31

When I checked the oil level for my 2001 Nissan Sentra gxe, I saw the oil dipstick broken. I checked the internet to see if it is a common problem, yes it is. A lot of Nissan owners complain about the same problem which may be caused by cheap plastic top of the dipstick that fails under high engine temperature. If oil dipsticks are defective by the manufacturer, Nissan Sentra's should be recalled for fix-up.

Unknown Or Other problem #32

I got my oil changed by firestone on 8/6/05 and they told me after my vehicle was done that the dipstick was broken upon arrival of the vehicle. They told me it would cost 150 dollars to replace this. I told them that I got my oil changed in philadelphia prior to me moving down to texas at a jiffy lube. They advised me to call them and talk to them. When I called jiffy lube they told me that this was a known problem with Nissan cars and that they often have to replace this on many vehicles. He suggested that I call a jiffy lube down in texas to see if they can replace this at 4 dollars cost as that is how much the part is. He told me that he wouldn't spend 150 dollars to do this. I called a jiffy lube in texas and they said they don't order those parts and that I need to call the dealer. I called the Nissan dealer and told me that this isn't an issue with Nissan cars and he would need to look at it before telling me how much it would cost to get it fixed. After further research on the internet I see that I am not alone and that there are many people who have a similar issue. I am going to get several opinions on how much this will cost and what needs to be done before giving anyone my money. I think that Nissan should reimburse people for the amount it cost to fix this if they won't do a recall.

Unknown Or Other problem #33

The oil level gauge (dipstick) of 2002 Nissan Sentra is very easy to break. My dipstick's a rubber/plastic handle was broken during oil change, and the blade was stuck in the tube and very difficult to get it out. A dealership asked $100 to just pull the broken blade out. I believe this is a direct result of poor design, and I have also seen numerous similar failures on Nissan Sentra. The manufacturer needs to recall this part immediately.

Unknown Or Other problem #34

One year ago I purchased a used car from wendle @ the y. I felt as though I was getting a good deal on my 2001 Nissan Sentra, which had acceptably low mileage. I was in the process of getting my car refinanced when the finance company called and told me they could not help me with my loan. They explained that it was obvious my Nissan's odometer had been rolled back sometime between 11/3/03 and 2/23/04. The finance company was kind enough to fax the the carfax report showing the suspected odometer rollback. With each oil change my car has had, the mileage has been documented with carfax. You can see the steady progression up to 50,693 miles on 11/3/03, yet when I bought the car on 2/7/04, the car only registered 31,675 miles. I contacted shane, the gm at wendle, on Friday 2/4; he immediately skirted around the issue trying to assure me that it must have been mistyped in the carfax report. I explained to him that you could see the mileage progression and it was obviously not a mistype. I am now left with a car that I no longer am happy with due to the fact that it has 20,000 more miles than I though and I cannot get it refinanced. Wendle is not responding in a timely manner and I would like some resolution.

Unknown Or Other problem #35

The consumer has not received any type of notification from the manufacturer regarding any recalls on her 2000 Nissan Sentra.

Unknown Or Other problem #36

I own a 2000 Nissan gxe. The handle to the dip stip broke in the technician's hand leaving the dipstick in the "tube". I haven't asked yet, but records show that Nissan will charge up to $700 to remove the broken dip stick.

Unknown Or Other problem #37

The 2000 Nissan Sentra has been having computer problems for 6 months or so. Three weeks ago the car began surging and loosing power at highway speed and is rendered useless. The problem was found to be the computer. Nissan has not yet delivered the part and there is no time or date for shipment. I have been dealing with Nissan north America directly through amity Nissan in amityville long island new york.

I am the national technical advisor for jiffy lube International and I would like to file a defect concern regarding engine oil level dipstick failures. Since November 2002 to present, jiffy lube International has serviced approximately 13 (to current count-possibly more-currently researching for exact number) 2000-2001 Nissan Sentras w/1. 8l engines ranging from 23,000 - 55,000 miles in which the engine oil level dipstick handle became seperated from the metal indicator inside the tube(as described in complaint#10010803 & 10023403). This happens on initial removal of the dipstick prior to servicing. Some of the vehicles were even 1st time customers to our service centers. There are also claims that I do not have accounted for because the stores are franchise owned and they handle there own claims. I do have all the customers personal & vehicle information if you would like to have it to investigate. The dealers that I have talked with state that they are unware of any concerns of this nature but are quick to propose a repair bill of $200-300. 00 dollares everytime this happens. I would like someone from NHTSA to investigate and consult with Nissan on what there take is on this matter and to see if they may issue a recall to where jiffy lube International could recoupe some of there losses, financially and from a customer standpoint. Please advise if I can offer anymore information regarding this matter. I appreciate your concern and look forward to your response. 2000 Nissan Sentra - engine oil stick broke off, unable to check oil, plastic handle on oil stick brittle after a few years. Costly repair to due to defected oil stick.

Unknown Or Other problem #42

While on a major highway at 4:30pm driving about 60 mph, the accelerator stuck causing the 2002 Nissan Sentra se-r to accelerate uncontrollably. The floor mat had come loose and jammed the accelerator. I had to shift to and kick the pedal loose. Very nearly caused a major accident. This fault was the subject of an earlier recall, but the solution by Nissan does not solve the problem. The floor mat easily comes off the puny little peg on the floor.

Unknown Or Other problem #43

I bought a 2002 Nissan Sentra se-r spec-v and in the one year that I had the vehicle, I've had a couple of things replaced due to defective parts. First, I had problems starting the vehicle and it was later determined that it was the fuel pump. Then they had to replace the clutch bearing because of some noise while shifting. Then they had to replace the cam sensor as the vehicle did not start one day. The vehicle constantly loses oil and one time it was bone dry after 3,500 miles. This seems like a constant problem for this model based on previous complaints. All in all, poor manufacturing of the engine components. After the floor mat recall, they replaced the floor mats and secured it to the carpet. Now, the carpet gets caught on the clutch pedal, so I have to shift the floor mats all the time.

Unknown Or Other problem #44

Jumps forward sometimes without foot on acclerator, especially when making turn from stopped position. Dealership can not duplicate problem. False allignment at time of purchase. Dealership states steering column was put in off center. This problem was corrected. Creak and pops in dash on both driver and passenger sides. Has been taken to dealership on two occasions to fix problems. No luck yet.

Unknown Or Other problem #45

My engine failed again while driving 70 mphs on the freeway, the very day after the car had been repaired for yet another defect sensor. It was a miracle I did not crash and kill anyone including myself. Each and every time I have taken the car in, I have requested it be checked for a short in the wiring. Each time I was told no. I later learned thar meant if it didn't show up on the computer, then they wouldn't look for it specifically. Following the latest hazard, I got in Nissan's face. Nissan found a defect oxygen sensor this time. Upon retesting the vehicle, the emc (the brain of the vehicle) was found to be defective. I was also told had I driven the car any longer, the air conditioning unit would have blown too. Well, that explains all the lousy gas mileage this past year. So, here it is a week later and my vehicle remains in the shop with a back ordered emc with no available stock date in sight. I am renting a vehicle and am receiving very little assistance from Nissan as to getting a rental vehicle in the meantime. I am quite concerned I have purchased a brand new spanking yellow lemon. I am quite concerned this vehicle, even with a new emc, will produce other defective sensors once the warranty has expired due to wear and tear from the old one. There are 45 sensors in the vehicle and only 5-10 have blown so far. I am quite certain others are close to failure too. I am just as concerned when both the Nissan representative and the service manager told me this part has been on back order for a very long time as so many vehicles have endured this problme, that the vehicle has not yet been recalled.

I am an owner of the SUV of the year. 2000 Nissan Sentra. Just curious to know if you would be interested to follow up on a story of a problem that I have just discovered in my vehicle. It seems that Nissan may have a problem with the vehicle paint. I have just washed my xterra and noticed rust spots on every major panel of that vehicle. It just looks unbelieveble. Within the year this will be a rust bucket !!!! not even think of the loss of potential resell value !!!! Nissan will most likely not be very happy about that. Just a note . This SUV was manufactured in June and purchased in July of 1999 !!!! I am available to speak with you if you need to follow up on this . I can be reached at 315-637-7674 anytime. Thanks. No safety defect listed in summary.

Back bumper- on 1/4/00 my husband backed into a concrete pole. He was navigating a tight space and was proceeding with extreme caution. Both he and his coworker passenger indicate that he was going at most 3 mph as he knew a post was there. Knowing that it was a tight space, he was going to use the slow speed and the post to indicate when to pull forward if he bumped it. When he backed into the pole, my husband pulled forward, got out of the vehicle to look at the bumper. He saw that the pole had hit the bumper at a location where two pieces meet. The bumper on the left side had collapsed, separating from the vehicle, and the pole had hit the body. Obviously, this does not meet the safety standards for a rear bumper. We have contacted Nissan of cerritos, which claims that it is not responsible for the manufactured product, therefore, they did not feel a responsibility to fix it. We contacted customer service at Nissan on several occassions. They finally left a message today denying our claim. My husband took the car to the Nissan bodyshop for an estimate and was told that the body damage had occurred because he had "hit the weak part in the bumper. " the x-terra has an unique bumper in that the metal part of the bumper does not run the length of the rear and is capped with plastic "bumpers" at each end. For the front grill, the plastic has cracked above the bumper from normal driving. Please help us because the people at Nissan have not listened to us and have been sarcastic about our concerns. At one point, the owner/general manager actually asked me if I, "had been in front of the car since you bought it. " we are most concerned about the rear bumper as part of the rear is only "protected" by a plastic facade. If this had occurred at a higher speed or the result of a rear end accident, significant damage and injuries could have occurred.

I strongly believe the odometer was tampered with on this vehicle. When I purchased it with 16865 miles-the day after I realized displayed in the window was an oil sticker which read the next scheduled oil change to be at 40731 miles. Also an agency has evidence of the car being inventored at an auto auction with more miles on it than when I purchased it with. Please help me in the investigation into this matter. I appreciate your help and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanks! **dimsii iovq entry poster after 12/12/02 cut over to artemis**769758.
