? incident I would like to report involves the crash of a 2018 Nissan Sentra (VIN: 3n1ab7apxjy277851) that occurred on the morning of November 28, 2024, coinciding with thanksgiving day on highway 270 at the eisenhower memorial (is-270) location. It is very concerning and puzzling how, in rainy conditions, after the vehicle collided with the highway barrier, the airbag of the Sentra failed to deploy, resulting in the driver’s head hitting the steering wheel and the driver’s neck colliding with the seat. Furthermore, the driver’s seat shifted from its normal position to a horizontal one, making it impossible for the driver to control the car. After two complete spins of the car, it crashed again into the highway barrier from the rear. The failure of the airbag to deploy resulted in severe bruising and pain in the driver’s head, neck, and back. Despite the driver being an athlete with a strong physique, this led to a minimum of one month of being bedridden and unable to work. Additionally, despite undergoing physiotherapy, pain remains in the head and neck area. The car was declared a total loss and could not be repaired after the crash. Do you not think that if the airbag, which is designed for the driver’s safety, does not deploy in such situations, then when will it deploy? if the driver’s seat, in such situations, bends and turns horizontal, depriving the driver of control over the car, how can one drive safely? aren’t these instances indicative of a malfunction in the vehicle’s safety system? does this not raise questions about the safety standards and build quality of a brand like Nissan, which is an International company? if the airbags or other safety systems fail to operate in emergency situations, this could jeopardize people’s lives. These safety features are designed to protect drivers and passengers, and it is expected that they function correctly in all circumstances.

On [xxx], my 2018 Nissan Sentra was involved in a severe accident on [xxx] in maryland. Despite the high-impact nature of the collision, none of the airbags deployed. The driver’s seat collapsed completely, causing total loss of control, and the seatbelt system applied excessive pressure, restricting movement dangerously. Nissan north America refused to inspect the vehicle and redirected responsibility to the insurance company without addressing the obvious technical failures. Additionally, I have provided video footage and photographs documenting the extent of the damage. My son, the driver, suffered serious physical injuries, emotional trauma, and financial loss due to post-accident disability. I respectfully request an immediate investigation into the safety defects of the 2018 Nissan Sentra regarding airbags, seat structure, and seatbelt system. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
1. Front passenger side seat fails to activate the air bag once a passenger has occupied the seat, and buckled up. The airbag "off" indication light remains illuminated at all times, and if it isn't being activated, may cause bodily harm, injury, or death to any passenger of the vehicle in the unfortunate event of a collision. Vehicle was requested to be checked out at lorenzo Nissan in ft. Lauderdale, FL in November 2023, but was refused. Front passenger seat, front passenger airbag, front passenger airbag indication light ••••••••••••••••••••••• 2. 2015 Sentra cvt transmission slips, shakes and stalls. On numerous occurrence this has caused near tragic collisions with multiple vehicles. One such instance forced the vehicle into 'limp mode' in a high speed area of a busy freeway and nearly caused numerous vehicles to collide into the stalled Sentra at rates of speed over 70 mph. Furthermore, the 2015 Sentra has an issue shifting from park, and will not move out of park, even with the brake applied, unless the gear release button is applied. Vehicle was requested to be examined by lorenzo Nissan in November 2023, but the dealership refused to inspect any possible safety or equipment issues without the promise of purchasing a new Nissan from their dealership. Powertrain, cvt transmission, automatic gear-shift indication, limp mode, no warning lights illuminated.

I have a 2019 Nissan Sentra with only 17,000 miles. The seatbelt indicator light stays on even while wearing the seatbelt. There is no warning chime just the light. However, if there is a passenger the seatbelt indicator light will go off. My concern is for the passenger's safety. I'm concerned if everything will work like it should especially if there happens to be an accident and the airbags deploy.

My driver door opens while I'm driving, the first time it happened in Feb 2023 had I not have my seatbelt on I would have fell out of car. It has happened severals more times, it feels like the lock or the pin is not engaging. Now my front passenger door is starting as well. I contacted Nissan consumer affairs the woman was arrogant with no concern over my safety, maybe it's a defective door or lock or something and the mgr ashley said Nissan can't help me, I asked a question if this fell under the NJ lemon law and she said no. I also complained that a dealer will not fix my stop light recall pm971 -21v-135 they put me on a waiting list 1 yr ago, I merely asked if this caused an accident what would happen? she sent me an email stating this I should have my attorney contact them. I never even mentioned an attorney and when I asked for the transcript of our conversation she said she cannot release it to me, I asked if she had one and she said yes. . Why wouldn't they release a convo I had with them, can it be used against them? my life is not there concern, I have had Nissans for over 40 years with no issues, I have an issue now and they merely shrugged it off. I would like help regarding these matters as Nissan refuses to help with the safety of my being and to save a buck!! please contact me ASAP the doors are a major concern.

Passenger seatbelt is hard to use and difficult to insert, due to the it resting below the seat itself. It is also difficult to release because it is lower than the seat and close close to the center console.

The engine light popped on and then the car wouldn't accelerate the odometer didn't pass 0mph you have to repeatedly restart the car to even get the car to 20 mph. When going up a hill the car wouldn't go fast enough so I started to roll back. Got the car scanned and the things that popped up was p0744, p285a, p0715.
The front bumper sensor is detecting things in the road that aren't there and automatically applying the brakes on my car. When this happens, there's a loud almost grinding sound and the car brakes very hard. The other issue I'm having is the car will sometimes detect someone in the passenger seat when it's empty and turn on the buckle seat belt light and turn off the air bag off light for the passenger seat.

Does not register correct gas miles. If I just filled gas tank and it reads that I can drive 258 miles on that amount of gas when ive only driven 25 miles it will tell me ive driven 100 miles therefore registering that I only have 123 mies left in gas, causing me to fill tank more than I probably need to and not really knowing how my much further I can actually drive. Ive taken photos that reflect miles driven to gas used. Also, car gains speeds when im pressing break to slow down/stop. Also, when I gently press gas pedal car speeds up faster than the actual gas im applying. Also, when in motion it makes sudden jerking stop when im pressing gas. Since day one tires seemed older than car. Im not sure if they were changed out at dealership for rotted/used tires. Constant check tire light comes on. The driver seat seems like its been tampered with or changed out. When you sit in the car its crooked, leans to the right. Within weeks after I purchased the car ive complained to the dealership about issues car has, they claim all is fine with the car and dont seem to find anything. Wrong. Also your site says airbag recall on the 2017 Sentra, dealership tells me it doesnt pertain to my car. I feel its defective all around and im nervous driving it.
Airbag blinking on dashboard due to passenger side seat airbag sensor malfunction and/or failure. My wife has purchased the vehicle used, and we happened to have accident hit by other car on the driver side door while I had been trying to get back home on the weekend after grocery shopping trip with my whole family at 02/05/2017. It happened at the service road of sh 121 TX. While I was turning left on the straight/left lane on green light. After the accident, none of the airbags were deployed but somehow the airbag light started blinking on the dash board, of course we took it to the repair shop and the service adviser has explained that airbag sensor on passenger seat was malfunctioning and they would have it fixed. So we thought we got it fixed, and drove it around for a few months. And somewhere around June, the airbag light on dash board came again and we've tried to summit the supplement for the airbag issue, and had it diagnosed by autonation Nissan at lewisville TX and the insurance company denied the supplement request because the autonation Nissan has stated that "airbag malfunctioning on Nissan Sentra is a common problem" and for that reason the supplement was denied, and it got me thinking that if it's the common problem as the service adviser of the Nissan stated, then why won't Nissan issue recall order for such an critical issue that may cause catastrophic event if it keeps malfunctioning? I would like NHTSA to have proper investigation on this matter. . . Because if the airbag sensor malfunction is not related to the accident I had, then Nissan is not caring about the lives of people who drives the same model vehicle as my Sentra. . .

I had my oil changed @ Nissan of grapevine & they took my car through the car wash with the windows down. Drenching & damaging the inside of the car, seats, floor board, electronics all got wet & no one ever informed me, they tried to cover it up by drying as much of the inside. It was only when we sat in the car & put my purse on the floor board that we realized it. Water was seeping out of the door handles inside the cup holders & arm rest, dashboard, etc. I immediately contacted the service dept. I spoke with asst mgr brett, I also took the car right back to the dealership & there showed the service mgr mark topham how water was pouring out of the bottom of the seats, and throughout the car. The screen on the radio was very dim & the seatbelt light kept flickering on & off, the airbag issue. Mark stuck he apologized & said they will make this right. I also spoke with sam street, sales mgr, who agreed, that they did serious damage to my car & said he would be speaking to owner mr. Johnny cantrell about a new vehicle replacement & have johnny contact me directly. I left the car there & took aa rental car. I received a call from mgr mark topham, next day advising me, that all they are going to do is replace the seat belt because they can't get the seatbelt light to quit flashing & replace the inside bottom cushion of one of the front seat. I advised mark, that they destroyed my new car by water damage & they owe me a new vehicle replacement, especially because they tried to hide the fact & never disclosed it or changed the oil to begin with. He said he would let the owner johnny cantrell know & have him call me. I never received a phone call from the owner johnny cantrell, nor is the company willing to make right what they did wrong. I need help in resolving this issue, please!!!! this should be illegal!!!.

I have a 2012 Nissan Sentra and the curtain air bags and seat air bags deployed when the driver's door of the vehicle was slammed. The car was not in motion but the key was in the ignition. Took it to a dealer and was told that they do not think this would be covered by warranty to contact my insurance company. The vehicle was involved in a rear accident 3 months prior but no air bags deployed only the trunk was smashed in. I was also told that the repairs to the trunk could have caused a malfunction. The car was only examined at the dealership I was told that Nissan corporate office was involved but never was called nor has the car been inspected by a professional. This too me is very unsafe and inconsiderate of Nissan to ignore this matter. What if the car was in motion what type of accident or injury this would have caused. I feel they should have at least inspected the car by a professional to make sure this was not a sensor issue and to confirm that it not their fault.

Front seats on 2008 Nissan Sentra move and rattle. I had a metal bracket that failed under the passenger seat repaired because Nissan did not offer a replacement part. The entire seat base had to be replaced. Nissan has a service bulletin on the issue. I'm concerned about the integrity of the seats in an accident. I've not had the seats repaired because the cost is beyond what I can afford at the moment.
Front seat cover retaining clips come free from seat frame, and cause cuts to occupants legs.
With 12000 km on my 08 Sentra was informed my rear tires needed to be replaced. After much fighting with my service manager, dealership manager, and dealership owner they agreed to inspect the components of the rear suspension and was informed that it was out of alignment, and they could not bring it to within spec. The fix was a total rear suspension replacement. . . I now have a front strut bearing gone and have been waiting 2 months for parts. . . With my front end alignment out because of this, and no word on part arrival.
Nissan Sentra 2008 front seats popping noise and movement. Have taken to dealer 4 times and all they said the bold are loose, but once leaving the dealer the popping and movement continues.
The fron seats when moved all the way back, will not move forward. The dealer said take it apart and look for a coin jammed in there. There are no coins on the track. The dealer replaced the driver side track and the new one even jams. The only way to move the seat forward is to take the two forward bolts holding the seat to the chassy and shaking the seat, then for some reason the seat will move forward.
