While driving vcd light comes on and my truck will not go into passing gear. Expectly while taking. Cannot use back power windows also.

4 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2019

Nissan is recalling certain model year 2004-2006 armada, Titan, Infiniti qx56 and model year 2005-2006 frontier, pathfinder and xterra vehicles. The intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) assembly contains an engine control module (ecm) relay that has a diode for electrical current noise reduction. The ecm relay may allow silicon vapor to form and, over time, the silicon evaporates from the diode molding which causes silicon oxide to develop on the ecm relay contact due to arcing. , I have owned this truck since 2005, why was I not notified by Nissan of this recall, and what can I do to correct this dangerous situation?.

5 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/10/2018

The dash actuator control for the climate control system makes noise and sometimes gets stuck where u cant defrost your windows which is very dangerous, it can happen at any time.

6 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2018

My husband could have been killed. We had no knowledge of any recalls. Two days ago my husband was getting in the truck and all of a sudden smoke started coming from the dash board and a fire was starting. He immediately ran in the truck stop store and was able to get a fire extinguisher. Another customer unhooked the battery as my husband distinguished the fire. The truck will not start and when trying to test it out by re-attaching the battery the smoke began again. We are now without a vehicle and had to get the truck towed home.

11 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/22/2015

I was driving my 2004 Nissan Titan from work when coming up to a stop leaving the long driveway to enter the main rd I pushed on the brakes and the pedal dropped to the floor and began vibrating and making a grinding noise like when you step on the pedal very hard and the abs comes on, except the brakes did not engage. The truck did not stop. I flew through the stop sign in front of other coworkers leaving a building to the north. The road only went left and right so I could not make the turn so I had no options and went across the road, hit the curb, went into a field where a mesquite tree stopped me. I put the truck into park and shut it off. When I restarted it the brakes are back and working like nothing ever happened. I left the truck there and went home to begin my normal google searches and whats the cause and how to fix this problem myself. Ive found hundreds if not thousands of online complaints on this very issue. The most recent notes are of a class action lawsuit that Nissan has agreed to pay because of faulty parts that cause their vehicles not to stop. They where quoted that they will not issue a recall unless ordered to do so in numerous news articles. Please process this recall before someone else gets hurt or killed. Please help.

12 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 08/04/2014

The car start to loose power suddenly in the middle of the road then it shut off . . . . . . It just shuts off by it self .

The contact was able to regain control after the vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and moved 900 yards. Also, the brake light warning indicator was illuminated. Once the vehicle was restarted, it operated normally. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the vcu chip and the vacuum canister malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred twice. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

14 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/24/2013

Imagine driving down a mountainous road in idaho state. You are going down a hill in a pick-up truck pulling a camper. All of a sudden your vehicle goes into limp mode - it won't rev over 1000 rpm. You look to pull over but there is only a small shoulder. Vehicles are skidding trying to avoid an accident as your vehicle is disabled and only partially off the road. After fixing the problem, I realized the truck should never have gone into limp mode. It is a critical design flaw with the vehicle. I was put in harms way for no reason. All vehicles use to have the engine speed controlled via mechanical linkage or cables for the gas pedal. Very few failures existed with this design. Today gas pedal run by a wire that sends an electronic signal to the vehicles computer. The computer in turn evaluates the gas pedal position which then sends a signal to the fuel injectors and throttle body to control the engine. The critical design flaw comes into play when vehicle designers combine other electronic sensors on the same circuit as the gas pedal. Non-critical components like gas evaporator sensors, power steering sensors, air conditioner sensors. When any of these non-critical items experience an electrical short, the vehicle goes into limp mode potentially putting drivers in harm's way does this recommended solution fix all problems related to the gas pedal? no it does not. It is a lot safer. I believe NHTSA should evaluate & assess this critical design flaw. I have been a controls engineer for 28 yrs and this design is not safe. Please refer their model a60 series manual. Nov 2003 edition, rev-April 2004, pub no. Sm4e-1a60u1. Section b , pages ec-423 thru 427. I would find it satisfactory if Nissan redesigned and fixed all vehicles by separating circuits with critical engine components from non-critical components.

15 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/18/2013

I received a recall notice in the mail this week: recall 06v-459 about the airbag warning light flashing, seat belts not working properly, etc. My vehicle is having all of the problems listed so as instructed I brought my vehicle to the Nissan dealership along with the letter. They informed me that they would not fix the problem because it "was not in their system". Stating they do not understand why I got a notice in the mail. Clearly my vehicle is having these exact problems and they are required to fix them, but they still refused to fix or diagnose for free as required by law. Very disappointing in Nissan for disregarding my family's safety.

16 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 12/03/2012

Driving vehicle on expressway at approximately 60 mph and vehicle lost engine power and turned off. Dangerous experience.

17 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/03/2012

On may 3, 2012, I saw my side mirror lights were not turning off, even while driving. I scheduled work for my truck for may 5, 2012. My truck was paked at my place of employment from around 6 am to 2 pm on may 3, 2012. When trying to leave work I tried to start my truck and it would not turn over, tried to jump start with no success and even had a tow truck company attempt to start the truck. After the truck was towed to local shop the truck started up with no problem and the mechanic said since its not showing any issues that it did before there was nothing they could do. On may 5, 2012 I took my truck in for the electrical problem and they also fixed a recall with the ecm relay. On the same day around 6 pm in the afternoon the truck would not start again. The truck was towed back to the Nissan dealership on may 6, 2012 and on may 7, 2012 the technicians at Nissan contacted me stating it was my bcm which was in the same area as the ecm. I had to pay about 600 dollars for a new bcm. I believe the bcm went out due to the recall work that was performed earlier.

18 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

On certain king cab trucks, the wires in the harness were routed through the rear doors and into the body. These wires may break due to over bending of the harness as the door is opened and closed. The harness contains wires for the driver seat belt pretensioner and for the front passenger seat belt which is part of the occupant classification system. Wires for the rear audio speakers are also contained n the harness. Consequence: if the wires for the seat belts and speaker wires break and make contact, there is a possibility that the pretensioner may deploy. If this happens when the seat belt is retracted, it will not be possible to use the seat belt. If one of the wires on the right side harness for the seat belt tension sensor breaks, the passenger side front air bag will not deploy as designed in a frontal collision increasing the risk of a crash and personal injury. I went to wallace Nissan, kingsport, TN, on 07/18/2012 and described the above mentioned problem, and was told that the campaign had ended and they would not repair this problem, I explained that the dome lights and the door lock were effected by this flawed design problem,. I am very much afraid that the broken wires will short out and start a fire.

19 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2011

Tl the contact owns a 2004 Nissan Titan. While the vehicle was stationary, the driver and passenger side seat belts failed to retract when prompted. The contact also stated that the vehicle stalled without warning on numerous occasions while stationary and while driving various speeds. In addition, while driving 70 mph, the control panel became inoperative and completely lost power. The contact stated that the failures were intermittent and became progressively worse since 2011. A dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000.

20 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/23/2011

While traveling to go on a 13 hour drive, all of our engine lights came on and the truck became sluggish. We had truck towed and got a call from dealership saying what happen was muffler/exhaust unit fell off during travel and the unit remaining got so hot it burned out entire part of truck including, ecu, rear right harness, and 3 other things. Cost to fix over $3,000. After paying hefty bill shop manager said this was the 5th Titan in our small town he had same issue with and that he agrees this is the worst place for a unit on a truck and manufacturer should of put other location. I then filed a complaint with Nissan consumer affairs. They acted like they cared and then 3 weeks later they denied helping me at all saying it was out of warranty. I did research on line and lots of people are having same issue. This is a huge safety concern and I think needs to be recalled and I need to be reimbursed for my repairs. I find it odd that the exhaust manifold also cracked on the truck on the right and left side and Nissan covers that until 80,000 miles.

21 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 04/13/2011

I received a factory recall notice for an engine control module relay that can cause engine performance issues. I made an appointment for the recall for today 04/13/2011. When I got to the dealer ( north dartmouth, MA Nissan dealership) I was told the recall could not be done because the check engine light was on and that in order to correct that there would be a $127 charge. So much for free recall!!.

22 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/21/2011

I live in the cold northeast and have to warm my vehicle before I drive to work. My truck is a 2004 Nissan Titan se with 79k miles on it. I brushed the vehicle off and started it turning the defroster to high and turning on the side mirror defrosters as well. I went back inside to grab the rest of my stuff for work and was inside for approximately 5 minutes. When I came back outside I was surprised to see the drivers side of my truck on fire. Fire engulfed the drivers side mirror and the dripping plastic was burning up the side of the truck. I returned inside and grabbed a fire extinguisher and was able to get the fire out. Luckily my vehicle was far enough away from the garage as to not be a concern as to burning down my house. I was shocked to see that the mirror defrost switch was still active and had not tripped any fuses. I immediately turned the switch to the off position and the light went out. This just happened this morning and I have not repaired the trouble as yet. The mirror of course is totally destroyed and the paint on the drivers side is damaged. I am writing this out of concern for the safety of the public as this could have easily evolved into a full blown house fire.

23 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/05/2011

Called Nissan about my recall to tell them we haven dealer in our area. That we would have to travel over 70 miles one way and could we have a local service take care of recall and they would be reimburse. They said that I would have to take it to a dealer. I don't understand with is recall (ecm) my vehicle could stop at any time, why would I want to travel over 70 miles. How can I get Nissan to pay my local serv person who is only 4 miles.

24 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/01/2010

Several times in the past month while driving on the highway the truck has stalled followed by a loud thud from the transmission - all of the dash lights come on, and the vehicle restarts, but the transmission does not engage for several seconds and only one gear is available until the vehicle is shut off and restarted. Also have had some problems starting the vehicle since the first 2 occurrences on the highway. Replacing the ipdm as this is a known issue with the vehicle. This is a very unsafe problem that needs to be corrected immediately.

25 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/01/2010

Just driving down the road the brake light comes on in the dash and the brake pedal goes to floor. You have very little brakes and it makes a grinding noise. If you turn off the vehicle it goes away. It has happened three times in the last year or so. Im taking it to a Nissan dealer next week and they say its going to cost me 100 dollars to reprogram the computer. I have read hundreds of reports of other people having the same problem. If its that big of a problem shouldn't there be a recall on this and Nissan have to pay for it?.

26 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2009

This seems to be an issue for a lot of people so I'm officially reporting. I've owned this car for 16 years. In that time, I've repeatedly had issues with the braking system at different times starting in 2006, but definitely in 2009. I've brought it up with dealers in both saco, me & wake forest, nc. Each time they cannot find a problem. Finally after the last time the dealer said there was a bulletin about the computer needing an update. Which cost multiple hundreds to install. This install definitely decreased the incidents of multiple brake failings while driving, but didn't completely fix the problem. I'm just now learning that it's a faulty delta stroke sensor in the brake booster and is a known problem to Nissan for the Titan and armada models. I never got the postcard about the class action lawsuit, but it wouldn't have helped since they never identified the issue or maybe even hid it from me during my visits. Because of this I'm out of the window for the lawsuit and am still having problems. My '04 still only has 78,000 miles and multiple other people are having this same issue. Nissan just had to pay 25 million to a family that was hit by one of these affected vehicles, but still will not claim there is an issue with the delta sensor and brake booster. Please make them fix this issue to save lives and pay for something they know has been an issue for a very long time. The booster can be reset and the problem goes away, but to do this you have to stop the car with the brakes fluttering and not responding. Then you shut off the car for 10 seconds and restart the car. This usually fixes the issue, but it can return at any time. Usually when you've already been driving for awhile. Started back in 2006, but got worse in 2009. Computer fix lessened issue, but still occurs at random times.

27 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/04/2007

The vdc, brake, and slip warning lights came on and remain on. Unable to ascertain any other impact at this time. An appointment with the dealer is pending.

28 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/27/2005

While the contact's husband was driving 70 mph the vehicle lost power. The vehicle was taken to the dealership, and they found there was a problem with a computer chip. The dealership reprogrammed the computer without the keys. Within 30 days, the vehicle turned itself off while going 70 mph. There were no warning lights when this happened. Once the vehicle came to a complete stop was able to turn it back on. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and they are going to reprogram the computer with the keys.

29 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 01/14/2005

The vehicle the atsc light came on and it lost power. The consumer pulled over to the side of the road, waited for 2 minutes and the computer restarted. The transmission just seemed to to slow down. The dealer found no defects and could not duplicate the problem. The vehicle also smelled of antifreeze, and the switch from high beam to low beam turns all the lights off.

30 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2004

The brake on my 04 Nissan Titan would quit working intermittently. The pedal went all the way to the floor and it pulsated and seemed to have no brake. All the service lights went on. I have no control of the brake at all. Very scary feeling. I had to pull over the side of the road and shut down the engine and restarted and the problem went away. It happened intermittently. I bought the truck new in 04 and still have it now 2013. It happens about 5-7 times every year. Nissan needs to own up to it and repair the problem. There are a lot of discussions about the delta stroke sensor. They need to fix this before someone got killed and then they will have a big lawsuit in their hands.

31 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 09/30/2004

When window was all the way down, tried to roll it up, it acted like it wanted to come up but didn't move. Turned off vehicle, and tried again a couple times before it would come up. This has happenend on numerous occasions. Also have premium sound system (rockford) radio recption and sound quality is worst I have ever heard in any vehicle, something needs done about this.

32 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 07/01/2004

Whilke driving the vdc, slip and emergency brake light come on. This is an intermittient problem. I went to the dealer, quality Nissan in temecula California, only to get blown off, told come in when the light is on. I paid for a full warranty 100k miles and I am considered a preferred customer, right!. When the lights come on the truck seems to lose power, which is a chacteristic of the vdc system. The problem cones and goes.

33 Electrical System problem

Failure Date: 05/10/2004

The rf stereo fades from stereo to mono, and has very low sound output. The aux input also has a very low noticeable sound level output in comparison to cd player. Contacted Nissan and stated they had no idea of the problem---shady if you ask me. The sound package cost $1800 dollars, but the simple radio sounds like a five dollar stereo. Also the sytsem is supposed to be made by rockford fosgate, but the amplifier is labeled made by clarion, the subwooofer is labeled made by clarion, and the headunit/changer is labeled made by panasonic. I am a little concerned as this is the reason I bought the package as it was supposed to made by a quality manufacturer like fosgate.
