As I backed into a parking spot I proceeded to try to switch from drive to reverse to straighten out and the lever went floppy. I am stuck in drive with the emergency brakes engaged. The wires under the column shifter wore at just the right time to what appears would be the clock spring!!.
My fuel gauge on my truck does not work properly. When my gauge shows a quarter tank full its completely empty. The reason I know it doesn't is because it died on me in the middle of an intersection and blocked traffic. The gauge still showed a quarter tank of gas. I had it towed to an auto repair shop and they ended up putting a few gallons of fuel in it and then it started. I do see that there is a recall for this exact issue ( campaign # r1010 and NHTSA # 10v-074 )and I would like to have it repaired before any serious accident happens.
A fire, seeming to start under the dash, spontaneously erupted and destroyed the entire vehicle and some very expensive property in the bed. The truck was setting still at the time. My understanding is that this is not an isolated case. I have never installed any after market equipment on the vehicle.
