I was driving my truck a long distance yesterday and was on the interstate when this incident occurred, approximately 2 hours after killing the engine to get fuel. The check engine light came on, I was driving 70 mph at the time. Shortly after, a warning came up on my display stating "engine power degraded". I was on a mountain pass in the middle of nowhere and noticed the throttle was very slow, I couldnt speed up and that was very scary since I was on the interstate. I had to coast to the nearest dealer in aubun wa which was about 25 min away. As soon as I pulled off the interstate to slow down, the error cleared and I regained throttle and power. When I got there to the dealer service dept they said they had no diesel mechanics to look at my truck until 2 weeks and that I should leave it. They also told me they had no loaners, basically telling me to get a cab home. I live in tacoma, over an hour away from auburn. My truck had my dog and all my belongings inside since I just came home from a road trip, cabs were really not an option. I begged them to please just hook up diagnostics and tell me if I can make it home. They said it only showed "low voltage". They cranked my truck and I drove home. Currently it is stuck in the driveway and will not start. It will have to be towed to Nissan in tacoma whenever they can actually find a diesel mechanic. Important to note this occurred after the car wreck I was in that was likely related to throttle not kicking in. Either way, I have no vehicle and Nissan seems to think this is not their problem even though it is under warranty. It has become a safety nightmare and I am afraid to even drive this truck even if it was working.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Nissan Titan. The contact stated that while driving approximately 15 mph, the vehicle did not accelerated above 15 mph. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic. The contact father had a diagnostic reader and the codes were electronic thruttle actuator and thruttle control motor relay. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 155,000. Bp.
While driving vcd light comes on and my truck will not go into passing gear. Expectly while taking. Cannot use back power windows also.
Check engine light came on. Had code checked at closest auto parts store, it was an evap code. Light went out, but took it to dealer to be checked. Nothing could be done because light was off. Other sensor lights came on. . Parking and fuel cap, took back to dealer, gas cap and o ring changed. Dealer said not to worry if lights and sensor warnings came on, that truck was safe to drive, and it was suggested I take pictures each time one came on. A couple days later the engine light and sensor warnings kept coming on. Took it back to dealer, said it was a wiring harness from engine to driver's door. 2-3 weeks later was told the wiring harness was on national back order, which tells me a lot of Titans have had this issue and there have been no recalls. The vehicle was sometimes stationary and sometimes going down the road or highway. . No rhyme or reason for timing of issue.
When in motion, vehicle brakes occasionally fail. Dynamic control off light, brake light, and slip light turn on at same time that brake pedal loses all resistance and is easily pushed all the way to the floor. Brake power significantly reduced and need to be actively pumped to slow down and come to a stop. At a stop, vehicle can be turned off and back on then warning all lights will go off and brakes operate as normal. Dangerous situation when attempting to slow down, especially at higher speeds. Occurs 6-7 times per year.
Vdc system light comes on indicating a system error. The result is hard shifting to the point the entire vehicle lunges forward at slow speeds. It is hard enough that the occupants get slung ether back or forward and can be hard to control eat slow speeds. This has happened 5 times within the last year. The vehicle has to be shut off to reset the system. Only happened while moving. 2 times while on the interstate once in a parking lot and twice while towing a RV.
Sometimes the traction control light will come on in the middle of me driving. Then it reduces my Titan to 10mph. It has happened twice while the vehicle was in operation and I was going less than 30mph both times. The traction light will also come on when I drive somewhere and let my car sit idle. Usually when that happens all the light appear. I'll turn it off and all the lights will disappear except for the engine light. The first time this ever happened was when we were sitting idle in a parking lot and at first it wouldn't even go anywhere.
Dead pedal leaving driver in dangerous situations unable to drive. Error code 0506, 0507, 2101, p1750, c1130.
Heather &a/c control malfunction heather core leaks inside cab power train warning lights came on not all time paint clear coat is pelen off.
Takta recall I have recently had many malfunctions with my truck. Shift interlock, ipdm, brakes are locked. Transmission wont shift, no brake lights, stereo does not work, ac system not working properly, back doors don't want to open, air bag light flashes backed truck in drive way. Got out for a few minutes. Got back in to move it and it would not go in gear. Then I noticed all of these other problems.
Abs warning light, slip light, tire deflation light, 4x4 warning light keep on intermittently while driving in the street. Accelerator does not work properly when the lights are on.
The vehicle started exhibiting very loose steering behavior and a "clunking" noise from the front end. The steering wheel has play from 45deg turned to the left to 45deg turned to the right without affecting the direction of travel. The stability control would attempt to keep the vehicle moving in a straight line when turned to the left or right, regardless of speed (<25mph - 70mph) on dry, warm roads. When the stability control attempted to keep the vehicle moving straight through a turn, it was necessary to quickly apply the brakes to keep the vehicle from leaving the road surface. The vehicle in question had between 1500 and 2500 miles during this time.
Incident 1: I was driving through a parking lot and applied the brake. Once the brake was applied, the brake pedal pushed back at me as if the abs system had been activated, and there was a loud sound that I know to be caused by the abs system being used. Luckily, when this happened I was about to pull into a parking spot and it had a curb. Knowing that my brakes were partially compromised, I slowly entered the parking stall and needed minimal braking. I noticed that my emergency brake light, vdc off light, and my slip light were all illuminated. At this point I turned off the vehicle and walked around it looking for any evidence of a brake fluid leak or anything out of the ordinary. I didn't see any brake fluid or any fluids or contaminants on the brake discs. I returned several minutes later and turned on the car and it performed as normal for about a week and dismissed it as an unusual one time fluke. One week later, I had a very similar incident detailed below. Incident 2: again, I was going through a parking lot at less than 10 mph, and was about to pull into a parking space. This time, it did not start until I was pulling into the space, so I had no warning that I would have a hard time stopping. Luckily, I had a curb at the end of my parking space. Once I felt the kick back I immediately pressed on the brake as hard as possible and slowly came to a stop a few inches away from the curb. I then saw the same warning lights the same as before. Dealership visit: at this point, I knew it wasn't a one time thing and took the truck to the dealer later that day. They told me my delta stroke sensor was bad and needed to be replaced. I have not had it fixed yet, and do not know if this is a permanent fix. I have seen several others with this same problem, just more significant. Definitely will be a long time before I feel safe driving this truck again.
When driving truck engine shuts completely down including on highway at high rate of speed.
Pulled out of the gas station by our house and all of a sudden my brake light came on and a weird noise would sound anytime I would tap my brakes . Pulled over restarted the car and everything was fine again and still is !.
The abs light, vdc light, slip light and brake light illuminated and the brake pedal went to the floor accompanied by abs actuator sounds. The braking effort did not slow the vehicle effectively. Recycling the ignition switch returned the brakes to a satisfactory condition. After my wife drove the vehicle home, I scanned the abs for fault codes: c1179. I am an ase certified master automobile technician with 28 years of experience. This device measures the travel of the brake booster and is a necessary component of a vehicle with stability control (Nissan calls it vehicle dynamic control [vdc]). This vehicle has done this 4 times in the ten years that I've owned it. The frequency of failure is very random, duplication of the fault is extremely difficult and it occurs without any warning at all.
My 2007 Nissan Titan was parked for 2 days , at 5:30 am August 12, 2014 I heard the trucks horn sounding off with just a constant blast . I went out to investigate an notice the wind shield shattered and my keyless remote would not turn off the horn . I opened drive side door , black dense smoke filled the cab and the center of the dash had a large hole and the temperature inside the cab was intense , but no flames . I sprayed down the area with my extinguisher ,horn still engaged I disconnected battery. Items that were stored in a top c ompartment 0f the dash , ended up on the driverside seat tells me that some kind of explosion occurred , not just electrical and the items were not burnt . All wiring , blowers , everything in and around the dash was destroyed ,and still do not know the cause . I had to have all replaced . Reminder truck not used for two days.
When to stop as entered freeway entrance, brake pedal dropped about 1/2 way and no initial brake power. Then vehicle dynamic control kicked in and got limited braking back as vehicle shuddered and twisted slightly. Restarted and worked ok. Also happened July 12. Happened again on 8/17 while towing. Can't trust the brakes!! other times brakes work fine.
Traveling at 10 mph the vehicle went dead. No brakes, steering. Luckily I was able to run it along a curb to stop it. Due to a crack in the exhaust manifold both O2 sensors had to be replaced as well as the mass air sensor. Running up a bill of $ 1700. 00. All due to manufactures poor assembly.
Brakes feel like the abs has engaged and the following warning light on the dash come on; brake, vdc off, slip, and service engine. This started happening soon after I purchased the truck new. Dealer ran diagnostics but couldn't find anything. This problem has happened well over 20 times while backing out of my driveway and driving at high and low speeds. Once this happens the brakes feel mushy and make a loud grinding noise. The only fix is to stop the truck, put it in park and stop and restart the engine. This is dangerous when it happens on the freeway. The occurrence of this problem is very intermittent. Last occurrence was on July 25th and before that July 18th. It may go a month or so before happening again. Two other employees at my company also have 2004 Titans and have the same problem. My local Nissan dealer suggest that the next time it happens to bring it to them so that their mechanic can see the issue first hand.
Back in may of 2011 I was driving my Nissan Titan truck down the highway with my two girls 6 & 7 year old when I heard the truck making a noise out of the rear . I slow down and immediately pulled over to the side of road not knowing what had happened. I drove the vehicle back to my home and called the dealership. When I took my 2005 Nissan Titan to the dealership in vineland new jersey they stated that the problem with my truck was the rear and needed to be replaced. They stated that the repair cost for the whole rear was $3,800 in order for it to be repaired. They stated that my truck was out of warranty by 2 months even though I only had 38,836 miles on it. I asked why couldn't the pumpkin in the rear be fixed and Nissan stated they do not just fix the pumpkin. They would have to replace the whole rear in the truck costing me $3,800. 00. I cailed eaton and spoke to ryan divine. Eaton rep stated that he has never heard of this problem, part (tt913a582) eaton posi. Ryan stated to me that they make this rear for Nissan. Ryan stated that Nissan engineers, engineer part and they only make it for them. I took the vehicle to a local shop to be repaired which stated that the repairs would cost me $1,358. 90. The auto repair center that I took my Nissan titian to, stated that there was many many many complaints about the rears in the Nissan Titans starting from 2005 to 2010. It was actually being reported online search. As I looked online I could see many complaints about the Nissan Titan rears with the same problem. So my question to the government supervisor paid by taxpayers, does it take 30 people to die in order to fix the problem and blame it on Nissan just like you did to gm. Fix the problem. So go online and read. Take matters seriously!! I extricate people out of vehicles for a living when they are in car accidents dead or alive. Thank you t. S.
I own a 2007 Nissan Titan. When I drive the vehicle, the steering wheel feels like it is slipping. It doesn't feel stable even when I am going straight. I'm sure its not the alignment but has to do with the suspension. I have had problems with the steering controls before because last spring during the raining season my vehicle slipped out of control when I was driving straight with the 4 wheel drive on going about 40 mph on the 15 freeway. I felt during that time it was the rain that caused me to slip but after that incident it has gradually gotten worse. I have ask Nissan to take a look but they wanted to charge me $130 just for an inspection. My vehicle has not been in any accidents nor any repair was done to the vehicle since I have purchased it. I feel that this is a very big safety issue and that it endangers the life of my family and also the public.
While driving applied brakes , brake pedal went to floor and metal to metal sound heard in front end brakes, I stopped noticed brake warning light on . I turned vehicle off and restarted . The brake warning light went off and brake pedal went to working normal . This situation has happened at least 5 times in the last month. There have been numerous reports involving this same situation and it should be addressed by Nissan before someone is injured are killed. I have made appointment with Nissan dealer. Vehicle mileage is 40,000.
Vehicle steering went out and wouldn't let me turn. Caused me to lose control of the vehicle and run off the road and caused me to slingshot back across to the other side of the road running into a grove of trees causing the truck to be totaled and causing injuries to myself.
Brakes go into in abs mode for no reason, truck becomes hard to stop; road conditions were dry- 80 degrees and sunny. I was coming home from the Nissan dealer because of a brake, slip, vdc light (anytime) and brake light - abs coming on (only during braking), both are intermittent. The Friday before I had Nissan look at this very condition(s) they agreed I had a problem, and upgraded the software. 2 days later the light still came on and stayed on. The only difference was after shutting down the truck and restarting, the lights would stay on, something that did not use to happen. . . Nissan has a brake issue, I've seen many of complaints that are the same as mine- loss of braking because the abs kicks on (brake light comes on when this happens) and will not correct/stop it-self until the engine is shut down and restarted. Restarting the truck when the abs is hampering the stopping ability is not very practical, and very dangerous in most driving conditions. When this happened to me I came very close to hitting the car in front and swerved to the edge of the road. Since the 2nd visit to Nissan I had the master cylinder with stability control option replaced, that was the dealership recommendation after they downloaded the codes(x2), they stated the part had to be ordered. Cost for repair was quoted at $650. 00.
I was driving down the highway at normal speed around 55-65 in houston texas. A car pulled in front of me and I had to put the brakes on quickly. When I applied the brakes the pedal mushed completely to the floor making a grinding noise and the vehicle barley slowed down. I made my way to the side of the road as the brakes made an loud grinding noise, and lost brakes completely. When I finally stopped(with out getting hit my cars) I depressed the brake and there was no response. I had to turn the truck off and as I sat there I heard a noise under the dash, like something reset itself. I start the truck up and moved slowly forward to see if I had brakes and suddenly they were working again. This truck has done this a million times and it is just by luck that I have no been involved in an accident when the brakes go out. The dealership says there is no recall and nothing he can do without a thousand dollars and then he isn't sure it will fix the problem. I am stuck with this truck and it continues to loose the brakes. The passenger airbag light has been on since 2011.
