The contact owns a 2009 Nissan Versa. The contact stated that while driving at 35 mph, the engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was unable to restart. The vehicle was towed to independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump and connector failed and needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic advised the contact that the parts were on back order. The vehicle was not repaired. The local dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, however informed the contact that fuel pump was available however the fuel connector was on back order. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.

3 Fuel Pump problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2010

At about 32,000 miles, the engine quit while in traffic, and the car (2009 Nissan Versa) was pushed into a parking lot. The car was towed to the dealership, and left overnight. The engine failure was caused by a fuel pump failure. The service advisor said it might have been the pressure sensor, but the entire fuel pump assy was replaced.
