9 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/18/2015

While pulling out of a gas station, I was turning right onto a road at approximately 20mph when I heard a loud pop near the front right of the car. The car would shift towards the right when breaking. I didn't initially see anything wrong and had to continue driving it. When we called local Nissan dealerships, they wanted too much to just simply put tue car up on a lift to diagnose the issue. Took it to a small local shop, and had it put on a lift. The subframe had a bushing break and separate from the main body of the car, causing the whole subframe to move freely. After having had removed the subframe, it showed enough corrosive rust that it appeared to come off of a car that sat up in northern states for way too long, been driven on salt roads, or exposed to salt for approximately 15-20 years. I am the original owner of the car, and have never left the state of florida in the five years I've owned it. I bought the car with only 8 mi on it and the part failed at approximately 117,000mi. Nissan refused to do anything when I called the local dealership, however this rust did not just show up in the last 17,000mi past my extended warranty. The local Nissan dealership, and two other shops have had to do oil changes, and not once was this issue brought to my attention. It did not just show up overnight, and in no way within the last 17-20,000 mi.

10 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

Right rear toe is out of spec. Current reading is . 56 degrees and should be . 32 to -. 05 degrees. Alignment service (pepboys) says toe can not be adjusted on this vehicle per manufacture configuration of rear suspension. This seems to me like a safety issue as tire will wear down and also not grip road surface correctly.

11 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 10/23/2015

I filed case 10786015 and the file upload did not work. This is a retry to include the wheel alignment report (see attached). The rear toe alignment is not adjustable per manufacturer design. I believe this is a safety issue.

The contact was included in but not notified recently of NHTSA campaign number: 17v449000 (air bags) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The manufacturer customer care associate did not give a specific date for when the part would become available other than stating the part may become available mid spring 2018, so the contact was unable to determine when the vehicle would be repaired. 15 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/15/2015

Left front spring broken.

16 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/05/2015

After routine oil change at loughead Nissan we were informed that both front suspension springs were broken. The service manager called it "normal wear and tear". The replacement price for a "kit" of struts and springs for both front sides is estimated at $1030. Diagnosis was confirmed by pep boys mechanic who said it was an obvious defect. For safety reasons work is being completed at dealer today. Vehicle has never been in an accident and we have never hit a bump or anything else that would cause this suspension failure.

17 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 08/02/2015

Driving over an ordinary bump broke spring on passenger front strut at bottom side. Clanging/rattling sound is heard over bumps now. I can move the broken piece with my hand.

18 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/29/2015

While backing out of a parking space a very loud bang occurred from the front passenger side of the vehicle. Upon inspection I noted the spring had fractured. Repair required a new spring and alignment. Lucky the spring held until I could get to the repair shop and didn't ruin the tire, but total cost to repair was over $250. The left spring had been replaced earlier this year due to a deer hit, otherwise I may have had to have both replaced. Looking for a recall on this, as it appears to be a pervasive issue. My repair shop just had another Nissan Versa in last month with the same issue.

19 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/25/2015

Turning into driveway and the car made a loud popping noise. Passenger side front dropped significantly and began rubbing the tire. Car repairs in excess of $480 and a tire replacement. Also required fog light housing due to severity of the break and subsequent drop of the car onto the top of the tire.

20 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 05/02/2015

Spring broke unexpectedly, while driving at a low velocity. It's hard to believe that a spring can break as it did. The vehicle has low miles, and the mechanic couldn't bekieve it himself. Mechanic informed me that he has repaired two other vehicles, same make and year with the same exact issue, and the same exact side. My estimate for the repairs is $1,500. If Nissan is aware of the issue, and has done nothing about it, they should be ashamed of theirselves. This is a safety hazard that can lead to injury or even fatalities. I have been buying Nissan vehicles for almost twenty years, but this has made me lose confidence in the company.

21 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 03/01/2015

The spring in the driver's side broke as I was backing the car out of the driveway. I heard a loud noise and the front driver side of my 2010 Nissan Versa dropped. When I looked at the wheel well, I could see the broken spring. I had the car towed to the Nissan dealership for service. The passenger side spring was also damaged: large chunks of the spring had broken off, but the spring had not broken through yet. I only have 25,835 miles on the car. I follow the regular maintenance schedule at the Nissan dealer. I am so thankful that this happened on the driveway and that no one was injured.

22 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 02/17/2015

We live in virginia, while my 18 year old was driving out of high school to come home he felt a huge bump coming around the corner coming home (thank goodness he was close to our neighborhood and not in the highway). He stopped the vehicle close to the house and noticed that as he was turning the coils must have hit the tire but due to the rust under the car from the salt the muffler fell off. This could have cause some severe damage to someone driving behind him if he was driving faster or in the highway. I have called Nissan cooperation first to explain the situation. But since Nissan representative made a spectacle of herself when I told her I had cancer and its the only vehicle we have that my son takes me to appointments they unavoidably have been avoiding to call me back. . She told me I dont sound like I have cancer!! I didnt call for ignorance I called to have my issue resolved not to have my cancer thrown in my face. They had my claim number #21697765 transferred to their head office due to the insensitivity and the issue. Their head office calls and leaves me messages at the worst times of the day and never calls me back when I call. I am adding a picture of the rusted muffler and the damage it could have caused my son and his life and others on the road! truly this is irresponsible on Nissan's part!!! I haven't even passed 67000 miles on my car. Please know that allstate was called and advised of issue on Feb. 17,2015 same day as incident. My representatives name was sarah and she advised me to call Nissan and they must supply a better part or a better vehicle due to a lack of response and lack of safety parameter of my sons life and if I was I the vehicle, my life!.

23 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/02/2015

I noticed that something was wrong with "feel" of right front wheel so took vehicle in for oil change and tire rotation and asked service to check on that wheel issue. He called me in to see that the right front suspension spring had totally cracked and broken off and had been rubbing on the inside of the tire creating a deep groove in the rubber. It was worn through and close to puncturing and could not even be driven to a dealer. This vehicle has under 37000 miles on it and has been totally maintained and not driven on any poor road surfaces. This was a 15 month old tire with about 14000 miles. Totally destroyed in what was a potentially life threatening situation due to a faulty part. Not normal wear and tear for springs. The mechanic said he sees this spring breakage on a lot of Versas and the Nissan dealer acknowledged that Nissan is "aware" of this problem! these vehicles should be recalled and all suspension springs replaced immediately before there is a fatal accident on the highway. I am afraid to drive knowing the left side could crack at any time. I am also concerned that if only Nissan dealers are reporting the repairs that they do, many repairs by independent mechanics are going unreported to Nissan.

24 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/24/2014

I am having to replace my front-end springs in 2010 Nissan Versa due to the driver-side spring breaking and the passenger-side becoming very worn and about to break. My struts and other parts of the suspension are fine and I have not had to replace those yet. Since I don't tow anything or put very heavy items in my car, I don't see why I should replace my springs other than that part being defective. Springs usually last the life of the car unless you regularly tow, drive on dirt roads, or put heavy items in the car. I have seen online that a number of Versa owners are having to replace their springs due to wear, which seems suspicious.

25 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 11/11/2014

While driving my vehicle at a low rate of speed over a low profile speed bump I heard a loud bang and my car profile dropped on the driver's side while the passenger side remained at the normal height. Upon further inspection, it was determined that the coil on my driver's side strut popped out of the holder securing it and barely missed severing my brake line. As a consequence, I needed to replace the entire strut assembly on the driver's side and as a precaution also replaced the passenger side. Moreover, the suspense while repaired within a weeks time, required that I needed to replace tires due to wear patters caused by the suspension issue. Such tires were at half life, but regardless were changed as a precaution since it was winter time in the northeast. My father kept the entire strut assembly of both sides should you be interested in looking at them. I also took photos of the strut assembly prior to the repair.

26 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 01/01/2014

I here a loud popping noise in the right front of the vehicle when moving in either direction. Having problems keeping tires on front of vehicle. Started several years ago but getting louder and beginning to feel it in the steering wheel.

27 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 06/09/2013

As I was driving my vehicle today I noticed a clicking noise in the right front wheel as I turned left or right. Nothing appears to be loose and I can't pin point the origin of the noise.

28 Suspension problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2010

When driving I can hear a chirping noise from the engine area; when accelerating sounds like coming from the front right hand possibly the tires; the breaks do not react on command; the shifter material on the automobile delaminated; button on seatbelt came off; driver rear door coming apart; engine lite is on; experienced problems with water intrusion from outside; engine and engine cooling, exterior lighting, noise from steering column, electrical problems radio not working; vehicle has not started at times; rear hatch would not open; the automobile's gas tank had to be replace; when I received a notice of the recall I went to Nissan of bakersfield and asked about the recall for this automobile and they stated "we have nothing to do with that recall notice". We can not help you and they sent me home.
