Recently, I experienced an extremely hazardous problem with the fuel tank on my 2011 Nissan Versa. It was a leak through the top of the fuel pump and into the passenger compartment due to defective, arcing electrical connectors. I reported this to Nissan consumer affairs and they just "blew me off". This could have resulted in serious injury or fatality so I was shocked by their lack of concern. I am a licensed professional engineer with credibility and credentials to properly identify and evaluate this hazard. Attached is some of my correspondence with Nissan as further details. Please review and contact me if you have any questions. Thank you, robert t. Woodbury p. E.
My Versa suddenly quit running while it was stationary a traffic signal. The vehicle would not restart, and there was no smell of fuel associated with the restarting process. I had the vehicle towed to pep boys auto repair shop, and they diagnosed the fuel pump and the power supply fuses for the fuel pump as the causes. The vehicle had 46,000 miles exactly. If this had occurred on a freeway, or in the middle of nowhere, the hazards would have been considerable. .
