Eight problems related to air bag have been reported for the 2017 Nissan Versa. The most recently reported issues are listed below. Please also check out the statistics and reliability analysis of the 2017 Nissan Versa based on all problems reported for the 2017 Versa.
The vehicle was involved in a side impact collision at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was deemed a total loss after the accident, as the side impact was the drivers side door and wheel well. The air bags never deployed, despite the high rate of speed and the entire front drivers side of the vehicle being affected.
Driver side airbag system completely broken. No crashes or accidents caused this. It happened out of nowhere one day.
With the seat belt on passenger side light pops on stating not connect, my transmission is slipping it also jumped in drive while sitting in park, an there were a recall on the springs were not fixed. This vehicle is the only one that I have.
2017-12-20 I went to Nissan sunnyvale where I purchased for recall service (pm662 / 16v-724). They said it will be done same day with oil change. But end of the day, they said they just check the car and order parts. Recall service need to wait for parts come in. They said it may take a couple day or a couple month. 2018-01-08 I text messaged to service manager for the update. No replay. It's been more than 2 weeks.
I purchased my 2017 Nissan Versa in September 11th, 2017. Within 2 weeks, I began having brake issues. The car would screech when slowing down and make almost a grinding sound when making a hard brake. I took it to the dealer who I purchased the car from (abc Nissan) and they twice refused to fix it. Than I drove across town to another dealer (midway Nissan) who admitted that it was a known defect and said it simply needed more grease. About a week after being fixed, the problem continued. Two weeks later, I was on the freeway and attempting to slow down to stopped traffic when the brakes locked up and would not allow me to stop. I attempted to steer in the direction of the side lane, but was unable to avoid the collision with the car in front of me. The airbags immediately deployed and although no serious injuries occurred, I found that some papers I had in the car had somehow been torn. Although I was wearing a seat belt, my seat belt was nowhere to be found. I am glad I am alive and I am thankful that I was not injured (other than very minor knee injury) but I feel that both the brakes and the air bags present significant safety concerns. Previous years of Nissans have been recalled for the brake issues. My car only had 24 miles when I purchased the car and the brakes locked up and failed at 3,000 miles.
Takata recall - Nissan dealer in glendale heights, IL has repeatedly stated that they will call me when the part/s have arrived. It has been over six months.
Takata recall.
Takata recall - back in August I received a letter from Nissan saying that my passenger airbag was faulty and I should not use my passenger seat until they are able to fix it. I have made repeated calls to Nissan and to the dealership in all cases they told me to wait until they tell me the parts are ready. My car is 10 years old and I think Nissan is just delaying it hoping the car will go away. I need to use all four seats of my car. They are just telling me not to use it to cover themselves in case of an accident involving the airbag. Can you please do anything to make them expedite this recall?.
