general problems of the 2014 Nissan Versa Note - part 1

My car has 2 codes, p285 and p0420. When I drive the car and accelerate the car starts to skip. At 1 point in time I was at a stop with my feet on the breaks and I tried to go once the light was green the car was not accelerating. !.

Good evening. I notice this car went driving if I want speed more 40miles make a stop shake and slowdown the speed by it self. Also the dashboard display on and off a gas cap loose but is tide. Also went the gas cap ligth is on the engine ligth goes off and viceversa.

We bought a Nissan Versa Note 2014 in March of 2023. It currently has 74k miles. The transmission is shot. It doesn't want to shift, and revs up to high rpm's. We have had two mechanics check on it. Up to $7,000 to get fixed. The second issue is the steering. The steering gear has gone out. It makes a clicking noise when turning. This is so bad the mechanic said not to drive the car anymore. $1100 to fix. We now need to pay as much to fix the car as we owe on it.

Transmission went out.

When reaching speeds around 20 mph, usually on turning corners, car feels like its 'skipping' not catching (so this could be like when picking up speed after reducing speed). I'm currently having wheel bearings replaced and the certified mechanic working on it says it appears to be transmission related and recommended me to take it to Nissan as he assumed (wrongly!) that it should still be covered under warranty. The vehicle has 71,000 miles. This issue doesn't always appear and is random as to showing up, but it is frequent.

The problem that the vehicle has is in the transmission. It does not have any light on the panel to notify me of any problem. My vehicle has 57000 miles and the transmission changes irregularly and sometimes it goes down without having slowed down, forcing me to stop completely on the road it is truly worrying. I have done internet searches on 2014 versa transmissions and many people have had the same problem.

Vehicles needs jump start every time and the vehicle stop. Need transsmission repaid.

The cvt failed and the engine began making a droning sound. The vehicle was undrivable once the failed transmission was detected.

I have been taking my car to Nissan since my purchase. I was having cooling issues, radiator issues, and car not starting. With all these issues and years of repairs. . My cvt transmission finally went out. I had no clue as they were fixing and servicing this car. I call Nissan affairs dept as I had to pay $5050. 00 to replace it out of my pocket! Nissan states out of warranty 5 months ago!!. I inquired to why I was never contacted about transmission issues and problems or the opportunity to be included in the civil action with this vehicle. They claimed they had the old owners information which is a lie as I have received prior documentation for warranty notifications in my name! excuse after excuse to not help me. That got me good with the 5050. 00 for an ongoing issue for this vehicle. Nissan does not help at all!.

Regarding my 2014 Nissan Versa Note, with "continuous variable (cone shaped) transmission": I first noticed the transmission issue beginning June of 2021. Took it back to the dealership where I got my car from they did not help me at all and took it to mechanic shop to look at it looked at and I'm changing my transmission fluid twice and no codes popped up on the scanner and now I'm sitting here with no vehicle engine runs is just a cvt transmission is the issue please help.

After having the transmission recall update performed by Nissan the transmission is having issues with shifting. I have to let off of the accelerator for the transmission to downshift. I contacted Nissan and they made a case and said I would have to pay for them to fix the problem even though they knew of the issues with the transmission.

Transmission shutters. Also hesitates when taking off or slow when taking off witch can lead to a accident. These transmissions fail too often. Nissan has not offered a upgrade to the problem. They wind up putting one defective tranny after another.

Transmission has problems shifting from 2nd to 3rd gear.

I bought this 2014 Nissan Versa Note brand new for my daughter. When I purchased this car I was told that it has a lifetime warranty on the engine and power train. After 6 years the car started to give us a problem with the powertrain. It won't change the gear, takes off is slow, loses power, and making noise. I have no money to get it fixed , therefore Nissan should step up and fix the issue. The dealer I purchased this vehicle from is out of business.

Driving on city road at about 40 mph going over bridge, and car just shut off in middle of driving. Cars had to swerve to avoid hitting me. Almost got hit a couple times. Stuck in middle of a busy road. The car has 61,000 miles on it. Regularly oil changes and serviced. There was no warning lights or warnings beforehand that prepared me for the incident. Checked battery connections and tried to restart, no startup. Had to car a tow truck to get it towed to home, then to Nissan dealership in my area. The Nissan service in my area has been trying to figure out what the issue is, and they have no idea.

I noticed the vehicle sputters and jerks when I try to accelerate preventing me from driving on the highway in fear of being in an accident. Took it to a Nissan dealership and they diagnosed it as a bad transmission. The cost of a new one is very expensive. The vehicle only has 72,xxx miles on it.

Transmission pulls and tugs, sporadic acceleration/deceleration,.

Brought this car used from a used car dealer in lilburn, GA for my college age daughter to get back and forth to school/work. While she was driving, the check engine light came on, I took the car to Nissan south in morrow, GA for a diagnostic test and was told that the car needs a new transmission, that it would cost $3861. 00 plus tax. I'm now finding that the cvt transmissions on these cars are crap! and Nissan USA corp is aware of the problem. Nissan opened a case for the car, we received a call from joshua w/Nissan customer care and was told there was nothing they could do about the car (even though the mileage is under 100k). Why is Nissan able to profit off of consumers while selling a knowingly defective product? why hasn't the NHTSA stopped Nissan from selling this vehicle? I will never buy another Nissan again, ever!!!!.

My vehicle is at 95,000 miles, and the rpm has begun fluctuating when it shouldnt be. At idle power, it tends to stay around 1,500-1,800 rpm when it should be between 700-1,300 rpm. On the road, and on the highway, the rpm bounces erratically, and the automatic cvt transmission shifts considerably hard between gears when my speed drifts between 25-45 mph and sometimes near highway speed. Harder than it used to. I have to apply extra braking to stop my car when at stop signs or traffic lights or parking. Turning does fine, though the engine drives harder than it should due to the higher rpms. I have been looking up what causes this, and everyone and everything says my transmission is going out. Automatic transmissions shouldn't be failing before 100,000 miles. This has been happening to loads of other people who own Nissans with cvt transmissions. And I believe an investigatiom by the NHTSA is warranted. As well as a recall by Nissan to fix this issue that has apparantly been going on for a few years.

Around 65,000 miles I started having an issue with the ctv / automatic transmission. The car sometimes jerks/shakes as I accelerate and takes longer than it used to to speed up. This has put me in immediate danger several times - for example, switching lanes on the highway, I can no longer be certain that I will switch lanes in time for the other cars not to hit me. I took this car to a mechanic who said it may be my transmission fluid - I got the fluid changed in an official Nissan shop in norwell, MA. The issue was not resolved - and when I called the Nissan shop again, they said if the engine light is not on, there is no problem. The issue has not resolved and they do not want to help.

Car was studdering. Gradually got worse . Would hesitate when pulling into traffic from a stop dont know how many times I have almost gotten t- boned. Now transmission is completely blown. Paid 12k for a car sitting in my driveway because I dont have a few grand laying around.

While driving vehicle on parkway it started losing power. As I was driving, the engine would rev but it would not pick up speed. Then as I was driving up the hill to my house the car stopped moving, but it was still on. Now the car jerks as ur driving and will not pick up speed.

Was driving the car in on busy street the transmission started not changing and was wizzing would not pickup speed then it just stopped in middle of traffic.

The transmission does want to change from fist to second , very high rpms and I have too let off the gas and it changes but not very smooth.

This vehicle was bought for my college-aged daughter to drive to work and school. She was stranded in north carolina when the car failed to accelerate, the engine revved high and the car "just died. " I managed to get it back to tennessee and drove it myself. While turning left across traffic, the car did not accelerate at all. If it had been a busy time of day, the results could have been catastrophic for my family. I had my mechanic of 30 years look at the car, he says it needs a new transmission. "might can drive it for a while but I wouldn't let your daughter get in it. " this car is only 4 years old and needs a new transmission??? plus it is a death trap for my daughter who is a young driver? I need some advice for this please.

This vehicle went from 60 mph to less than 30 with the rpms over 5000 on the robert f kennedy bridge. If it wasn't for the fast thinking person behind her this would've resulted in a major accident. She was not able to go over 30 with the rpms over 5000 all the way to long island. Took it to the Nissan dealer and it is the cvt transmission she needs a new transmission her vehicle is less than two years old that she has had it she bought it with 51,000 miles on it it now has 75,100 miles on it the dealer will not take responsibility for the bad transmission they want us to pay over $2000 to fix. They will not stand by their product and fix it and less we come up with $2000 this is a known problem with Nissan and there's cvt transmissions can you help the car is still sitting at Nissan because we do not have the money nor would we expecting to have to come up with this large sum.

Car has a little less than 35000 miles. The car has terrible problems engaging any gear. Transmission is wasted. I was going to cambria from orange county. I felt the car a little weird arriving in cambria, but it still ruined. As I was coming to orange county, the car abandoned me in the freeway. I had to take it off the highway and drive through streets to my house. Car is broken.

Transmisi�n is failing. I report for extended warranty with carmax, they state to make a report since supposedly warranty had expired.

Transmission went out at 93492 on 03/26/2018 costing me $3749. 74.

When your hand is resting on the stick shift,and you accelerate. The shifter moves back and forth. I have owned manual transmissions all my life this does not feel right. It does it all the time. Took it back to dealer they said nothing wrong ,it is a cvt trans. It feels loose to me.

Intermittant shudder, vibration when accelerating. Vehicle has 45,000 miles on it; this started probably at about 37,000 miles, within the last year. Bought it new fall 2013. Have mentioned it to krenzen motors in duluth, mn. They have test driven it but have not felt the shudder. Have told them about the problem at least twice when I've had the car in for oil changes. They told me the transmission warranty is 60,000 miles or 5 years, whichever comes first. I've really liked the car and have had only a few other minor problems. However, I'm beginning to feel unsure about driving the car, especially out of town. My son had a similar transmission problem with his 2010 Nissan including lack of acceleration. They traded the car right away.

Cvt started slipping as seen by tachometer jumping up and hearing the engine rev up as I went up a small hill (much like if I had a clutch to push in on a regular transmission) later that day on the way home on the interstate on level road did the same thing. Pulling up a small hill as I proceed to the dealership and giving it gas to get up that hill, cvt made a very loud 'thump' (like I popped the clutch). Car is not safe to drive now. Car has only 51,000 miles on it.

While using the air conditioning compressor (a/c, defroster) the car while at a stop, or while driving at slow speeds under 10 m. P. H. Will cause the car to surge forward unexpectedly. I can have my foot firmly pressing the brake pedal down, and can feel the vehicle struggling to move forward against me. Anyone with size 10 shoe and above (men) foot becomes trapped in accelerator area. Cruise control constantly fails to hold proper speeds, and varies from 10 mph + or - above intended speed while on a flat non incline surface.
