Axle Assembly problems of the 2001 Nissan Xterra

1 Axle Assembly problem

Failure Date: 09/12/2004

Recall 02v299000/axle corrosion. Consumer has a concern that after having this recall repairs done, less then 29,000 miles later, while getting their tires replaced mechanic informed consumer that the seal around the axle broken consumer took the vehicle back to the dealer, who informed the consumer that any repairs would be at consumer's expense.

2 Axle Assembly problem

Failure Date: 08/13/2002

While driving 30-35 mph right rear axle and wheel disconnected from vehicle. Vehicle at dealership at this time. Consumer states that the right rear axle and tie rod flew off causing the the consumer to be pulled to the shoulder of the road. The consumer had no brakes and the steering wheel locked up, the vehicle was thrown in park in order to stop. There was one injury.

3 Axle Assembly problem

Failure Date: 04/19/2001

While driving at 55 mph on I-95 right rear wheel and axle flew of car, then, consumer had no brakes, and managed to get to side of road. Consumer felt very lucky he was not killed.
