Timing chains making noises and I have change my oil and it still making the noise. . .
Engine noise: - noise coming from time belt support - the timing chain guide wore out fast. - timing chain guide inner plastic wore out causing chain to rely metal bracket then the metal causing noise and eventually break the the timing chain.
My engine self destruct because Nissan used cheap made plastic tensioners that shredded metal into my engine causing it to self destruct. Nissan knew about this problem and continued installing these tensioners from 2005-2015. I could have crashed into anything while driving or someone could have hit me if my engine would’ve died while driving. My safety was not prioritized by Nissan. The warning light was a whining noise coming from the engine while startup and pressing on the gas pedal. So they knew the problem existed but didn’t care.
I was driving, and stopped for about 5 minutes at a convenent store, and when stated the car, it wont go forward as normal, lost power with no warnings and was told by mechanic that the carburetor was leaking some fluid to the transmission.
Was driving in a 55 zone in my Xterra and the engine lost power outa no where. Good thing no one was behind me or I woulda been killed. Sounds a lot like the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm) assembly contains an engine control module (ecm) that they had problems with on this model yet my VIN does not come up in the search????.
The contact owns a 2006 Nissan Xterra. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated with code: po463. The manufacturer was notified of the issue and opened case number: 293-100-05. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 106,000.
Timing chain. I am a member of a few forums for the Nissan Xterra and frontier. It is a known issue that the timing chain, the tension and guides are a issue on the 05/06 Xterra and frontiers running the 4. 0 v6. A class action lawsuit was filed by owners of the same year Xterras but it only recognized in a few states. Please investigate and deem a recall before too many more Xterras blow their engines or have other issues due to a known issue, Nissan has admitted they know of this issue too. Below is the link to said class action lawsuit: https://topclassactions. Com/lawsuit-settlements/lawsuit-news/827701-Nissan-agrees-settle-timing-chain-defect-class-action-lawsuit/.
Car randomly will shut off.
The dealer informed me after replacing my transmission that the timing chain tensions guides will need to be replaced. The truck has 82k miles and gets regular maintenance. I research the issue on the web and this is a chronic design problem. The engine could incur severe damage during use which could lead to a loss of control and severe accident.
The dealer informed me that the timing chain components are wearing and could break resulting in an engine abrupt stoppage. Many complaints on line about this condition. Nissan design defect.
At 115,000 miles my transmission died. In one week it went from a few jerky shifts to me crawling into the dealer not being able to go over 20 mph. Upon further inspection the transmission cooler leaked fluid into the transmission and basically shredded the transmission. Im now stuck with a 3700 dollar repair bill.
Coolent leaked into transmission. After pressing the gas pedal down several times, the car was not getting up to speed as normal. Immediately took to car repair shop, which informed us this was one of several Nissan cars they had dealt with recently and guessed correctly our issue. Transmission had to be rebuilt, very costly.
1. Engine light on - remains on, need to reset - at 77000+ miles fuel gauge is off chart when full tank is filled up fuel gauge is unreliable, need to use the speedometer to gauge gas tank VIN# is not on the recall list under fuel tank recall campaign 10v075000 VIN# id for recall=engine only=campaign# 10v517000; total recall listed = 5 for 2006 Xterra models 2. Tire pressure light is on continuously=tpms = not on recall list/campaign, can this be added?? all tires are have correct recommended psi; yet light is on continuously, reset works only temporarily tpms - as of oct 2014; at 75000 miles need dealer to fix all recalls, can this be done?? plse advise ASAP. Bought the car used/pre-owned. . . . Thank you for your attention & time.
Driving down the road and car started shuttering and over heated got out of car and there was milky trans fluid every were.
The transmission fluid and engine coolent are mixing causing my transmission to lock in 1st gear.
Secondary timing chain shoe failure. Known problem with multiple Nissan vehicles due to inferior quality product, as explained by service technician. Technician stated that multiple Nissan vehicles come in to the shop weekly with this issue. It occurs so often, the service technician had examples of the inferior and worn parts in the cabinet to show customers. Expensive and timely issue to fix. If left unfixed, will cause serious damage to engine.
I purchased this Xterra in may of 2006. In the past 8 weeks I have had to have my 06 Nissan Xterra towed to the dealer six times for the same issue of not starting. The first time I was told I was out of gas. Since then, I've been told the security module had gone bad, I had corrosion on the battery terminal causing it to go in to stolen mode, the fuel pump had gone bad (replaced twice), and the wiring harness to the fuel pump had a short in it (replaced twice). The dealer says they have not been able to replicate the problem and want to give me my car back without actually finding out the real issue. This is my family vehicle and I do not do any towing or off-road with it. Prior to these issues, my transmission went out at 11k miles and left me stranded on the side of an interstate for over 3 hours while I waited for a tow truck, and have had to have the fuel gauge sensor, catalytic converter, and tire pressure sensors replaced.
2006 Nissan Xterra off-road model. Vehicle had surged forward unexpectedly on a number of occasions (6) in the past while stopped or coming to a stop at intersections. Dealer had inspected the vehicle and could not find the source of the problem. This happened most recently in a parking lot resulting in a collision with a parked car. Nissan has contacted me and advised they cannot (or are not prepared) to do anything about this problem and that it has never been reported before, but I see the very same situation reported at the mycarstats. Com web site.
Vehicle gets 10 mpg, runs rough. Vehicle will hesitate then take off like you have floored gas pedal. Surged . Safty issue as I almost lost control of vehicle. Dealer said nothing worng. 2006 Xterra or 4x4.
