Conventional Parking Brake problems of the 1999 Oldsmobile Alero

1 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 09/01/1999

The parking brake does not keep the car from rolling backwards when on a slight grade. Dealer tried to fix by replacing part. Problem persists. They are at a loss as to how to fix. This could be an accident waiting to happen.

2 Conventional Parking Brake problem

Failure Date: 11/19/1998

Bought the vehicle new in florida. . . From day one, the parking brake has never worked right. . . Will not hold the vehicle on a hill when parking brake lever fully engaged. Took the vehicle to dealer service centers several times. . . Parking brake would work for a few weeks, but would return to previous state of not working. . . Ineffective. Finally fixed myself. . . Problem was a defective brake adjuster screw.

3 Conventional Parking Brake problem

When emergency parking brake was applied vehicle would roll or jerk. Dealer replaced transmission which did not correct the probelm. Please give any further details.
