This is about my 2000 Alero which I got in June 04 2015 . !! why there was never a recall on this I will never know !!! but you car be driving down a city street and all at once the car will stop no warning at all , do you know how scared that makes me !!!! what if I'm on the highway and I'm in front of a 18 wheeler and it does this " I'm dead " and no one has looked into this ??? I've read 100 complaints on line about the same thing !!! an the thing is dealers , repair places have looked at is and no one has and answer and you could be turning into a resident , business or a parking place and it will just stop !!!! it starts back up no problem , today I took my daughter up to the store this car stopped 6 times , 6 times I'm very very scared of this car but I'm retired and don't have money to buy a newer car I wish I did !!!!! this is been happening for over a year !!!!!.
Car shuts off while driving at all speeds. All power is lost (including steering). Sometimes (while driving on the highway) it turns itself back on after a few seconds - and I keep on driving, sometimes I can shift to neutral and restart and shift back to drive, but usually I have to turn my hazard lights on and mussel the steering wheel off to the shoulder and try to restart it. Then - the 'security' light is on and it won't let me start the car. I've found countless posts online about this problem. I can't believe there isn't a recall. Isn't gm being sued for a very similar problem?.
I own a 2000 Oldsmobile Alero. At 2 years old and 22,xxx miles the rotors became out of round causing the steering wheel to shake violently upon depressing the brake pedal. The manufacturer opted to resurface the rotors. At 3 years and 34,xxx miles the rotors again became out of round. Again causing the steering wheel to shake upon depressing the brake pedal. This time, with the vehicle out of its 3 year manufacturers warranty, the manufacturer opted to resurface the rotors at my cost. The dealer refused to replace or repair the defective rotors. The problem was not fixed the first time and the rotors obviously should have been replaced. Has there been other complaints filed on behalf of the Alero and defective rotors? what should I do next?.
