Other Fuel System Pump problems of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

The contact stated that while traveling 60 mph the vehicle was placed into cruise control and the vehicle immediately accelerated up to 80 mph before it slowed back down. The contact then stopped to get gasoline and stated that the vehicle would not start back up. The vehicle was towed to a dealer and it was determined that the fuel pump failed on the vehicle. The contact had that repaired, but that did not correct the problem. The contact then took the vehicle to a mechanic and it was determined that the ignition switch, the casing and the relay switch needed to be replaced. That did correct the problem. The contact spoke with the manufacturer regarding NHTSA recall campaign 07e021 (fuel system) and NHTSA recall campaign 03v327 (exterior lighting) however the manufacturer stated that the vehicle was not included in those recalls. The current mileage was 43000. Rl.
