The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. The contact stated that the turn signal failed to operate and the hazard lights operated independently. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 03v327000 (exterior lighting). The approximate failure mileage was 82,762.
The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. The contact stated that the audible sound that accompanies the turning signal continuously chimed after the turn was completed. The sound would increase before stopping sporadically. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was unknown.
The turn signals on my 02 Alero do not always work. They will come on and off on random occasions and nothing could be done to fix it. Also the car security system does not always allow the car to start. When the engine doesn't start I have to stick the key in the ignition for 10 minutes until the security light stops flashing then it will start. I had the try to fix it and the only solution they think might work (but not sure) is to turn off the security system completely.
Hazard and turn signals intermittently fail; same as the 2001. . . There was a recall for this issued on the 2001, but not the 2002? I lose my turn signals approximately 2-3 times per 10 mile trip. I have not been involved in an accident due to this malfunction. . . Yet. No repairs seem to fix the problem. The incident date is the last time this problem occurred (I haven't driven the car for a few days), but it has actually been going on for over 2 years. Apparently this is a common problem with the Alero's reguardless of the model year. The vehicle also won't start when it rains, and shuts down while driving. The trunk opens by itself, and the door locks don't always work. Sometimes the stereo won't turn on, and most recently the driver's door window won't open. I replaced the wheel house assembly 3 times in two years. This car is an electrical nightmare! frequently it won't start because it thinks I'm trying to steal it. I also put air in all my tires at least once a week because they won't hold air. . . Apparently there is a problem with the wheels. I have to manually check the tires because the warning light for low tire pressure is also an electrical malfunction.
My turn signals and hazards don't work at times. They go out randomly while I'm driving and it is very dangerous. I tried to turn the hazards on to get them to work but the hazards out most of the time also. It has been happening at least 3-4 times a week and makes me nervous to drive for fear of an accident or ticket. I have contacted gm dealers and they said there is no recall for the 2002 model but I have read there are recalls for the 2000 and 2001 models. I have heard of numerous complaints for the 2002 models and would hope something will be done about it.
My turn signal lights fail to turn on some times. I have a 2002 Alero and I see a there have been other complaints and there is a pe 05-055 where there is a recall. My car has under 50 000 km. Can I get mine changed for free?.
My blinkers on my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero don't work most of the time. My horn does not work.
2002 Oldsmobile Alero, turn signals are not working properly, sometimes they just quit working. Is there a recall for this problem as I see there many complaints with the flasher unit or hazard component. When I called the dealer I was told I could bring in the car and it would cost me $100. 00 to see what the problem is plus be charged to fix the problem or I could take it somewhere else. There is a defective part that needs to be replaced as this is a safety issue and the consumer should not be charged to have the problem corrected.
We have been having trouble with our turn signals going out sporadically. We never know when they are going to not work. This is very dangerous but we were told tat only certain VIN#s had this recall. However this is happening to too many people who are having to pay out of pocket for this repair, it is ridiculous. We also like many others have had the problem with not being able to start our vehicles because of the ignition. We had to pay $700 to get it rekeyed, and we have a passenger window that has fell into the door, which still is not fixed. We should all be given the opportunity to get the signals fixed under recall not just some when its the same problem.
Turn signal indicators & lamps fail erratically. . . . . . Then operate regularly before failing again.
Turn signals and flashers don't work. Sometimes they work fine, other times do not. Happens more and more. Security light flashes, when flashing car will not start.
Turn signals intermittently work.
I'm not for sure if your interested in this type of complaint, but I received a letter from Oldsmobile pertaining to my 2002 olds. Alero that there was a possible problem with the turning signal and/or hazards. This letter came from their recall center but it stated in the letter it wasn't a recall. Well a couple of months previously my turning signal would stop working while I was driving then it would work, stop working, work but never for too long of time. Sometimes it would be fine for weeks then it would start up again. Well, after I received this letter I was for sure that this letter probably pertained to my problem and made an appointment with the olds. Dealer in vincennes, in. When I went to pick it up, they said the turn signal never quit working, which I replied its going to be a one in a million chance that it will do it for you. I would have to leave my car there for a month for it to occur for them to catch it, I just thought this problem was what the letter was referring to. He stated if he fixed everything that could possible be wrong with the turn signal I would have a repair bill as long as his arm. My concern is I feel like I could be in a serious accident if the turn signal quits working again or getting a ticket for not using it when it actually failed. I'm kind of at a loss of what I actually can do. I know this might not be the problem they are referring to because they really didn't explain in the letter it just said contact your olds dealer, which they were of no help. I asked him if he was aware of the letter sent out and he said kind of. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.
Turn signal lights flicker but fail to come on in back of vehicle, or they just don't work at all. This is an intermittent problem. I may start out driving and they are fine, then they completely stop working, and by the end of the trip they work again. Sometimes they work the whole trip, sometimes none at all. There is no rhyme or reason to it. I replaced the fuse for the signal lights and this did not remedy the problem. This has been an ongoing problem for the past few months.
The turn signals at times can be working, then they stop completely while operating the vehicle. . . . . After all while will begin working again.
In the past two weeks my turn signals quit working without any warning and just as mysteriously start working again. I have not taken it to a dealer as it has only occurred twice. I seen a report about this problem on the news.
The contact stated that the turn signals as well as the hazard warning lights worked intermittently. The vehicle is currently at a dealership for repairs. The dealer offered no diagnosis to the problem. There is a NHTSA recall 03v327000 on earlier model years. Yet his vehicle experienced the same problem as indicated in the recall, but was not included in the recall.
I discovered my turn signals weren't working while driving recently. Since then I've discovered that the problem is intermittent; sometimes they work with no problems, sometimes not. Generally I can monkey with the hazard light button after I've turned the car on but before I start driving to ensure that they're in working condition. But it's no guarantee they'll be working at the end of the trip. While researching this problem online I see that a number of people are experiencing it and that the NHTSA is investigating. I plan on having it repaired as soon as I get a chance, but it'd be nice if there was a recall outstanding already.
The turn signal is flashing in and out of use. Sometimes it works when you turn the signal on, and other times it does not work. Sometimes it stops working after it has started working, and it goes out before the turn is completed. There has been no crash yet, but I do not feel safe when making a turn and the signal stops working. I have not had the vehicle serviced at this time, because I thought a recall had been issued and I was waiting on the letter from the manufacturer.
Consumer complained about a turn signal problem. The turn signals worke d intermittently. The problem first started on August 15, 2005. The consumer was in the process of getting the repair done. Manufacturer's recall 03043 was issued for earlier year models.
The contact stated that the turn signals worked intermittently. He had not taken the vehicle to a dealer at this time. No repairs or corrections have been made. There was a recall on an earlier model year, however, this vehicle experienced the same defect as indicated in the recall.
2002 Oldsmobile Alero - turn signal only works intermittently.
I have a 2002 olds Alero GLS. The 2001 olds Alero has this recall: hazard warning switches that may experience solder joint cracking caused by rapid temperature transitions and the soldering process. If solder joint cracking occurs and results in an open circuit, the turn signals/hazard lamps become intermittent or inoperative. My car has the exact same problem but is not included in the recall. Gm was the wost help ever. They hung up on me. In the past two weeks they have quit working more times than I can reamber. I have also have a problem with my gage cluster. About 2-3 times a month it dosent opperate. No check engine lights ect or spedo rpm ect work there just "dead" until u restart the car. The olds bravada has a recall for it. What I dont understan is how an 01 Alero have recalls and a 03 have recalls but not an 02. I was on the interstate when my turn signals quit. I dont know how long they were out before I they werent working. I did have a frind of mine look at the car who is a certified gm tech and said it was a losse wire up in the dash.
Signal lights work only sometimes. The same problem was in the 2001 Oldsmobile and had a recall for the correction. Nothing for the 2002 which is doing the same thing as the Oldsmobile 2001.
2002 Oldsmobile Alero. The consumer stated the turn signals failed. The vehicle has not been to the dealership. The consumer stated he had the same problem with another vehicle, and it was the hazard switch which failed. This problem has been occurring for approximately 6 months. The consumer has done nothing to correct the problem . Oldsmobile was contacted, and they stated there was no recall for that model year.
Out of the blue the turn signals stop working. Almost causing an accident. Took my car to the dealership they gave it back to me , and said that they found nothing wrong with it. Until this day I still have this problem, is there anything I can do to solve this problem?.
The contact owns a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero. The hazard and turn signal flashers work intermittently and sometimes are inoperative. The contact saw other complaints on the NHTSA website for this problem. The consumer contacted gm and they said they were unwilling to help with the repair because this vehicle was not included in NHTSA recall 03v327000 due to VIN. The contact has been having this problem with lights for twelve months. The contact moved from a warm weather climate to a four season climate, and that was when he began to have this problem. It went away up until the weather began to change.
Turn signals work intermittently. If I push the emergency flasher in and out, then the turn signals work normally. This has been going on intermittently since about June 04. I took it to the dealer but they couldn't find anything wrong. I am taking it back to the dealer 29 December 2004. It has been looked at (2) times previously.
I have had my 2002 Oldsmobile Alero since 2002. Within six months of having this car the ignition switch went bad and was unable to start the car and it had to be repaired. This was repaired by the dealer that I purchased it from because the company that was in charge of my extended warranty went bankrupt. Since then I have had to pay to replace a gasket in the engine that keeps engine coolant and engine oil from mixing together because the gasket that was manufactured with the car was not the right thickness. (since this is a known defect by mechanics why wasn't this recalled or a service bulletin initiated?) I continue to have problems with the driver door control panel that controls the windows and the side mirrors and window locks. The windows in my car can only be controlled by the driver because the window lock is stuck in the "on" position. I have also had problems with the windows falling down into the door and have had one window replaced in December 2007 but now in September 2008 the passenger window is experiencing the same symptoms and now will have to replace this window as well. Right now the most annoying thing about this car is the turn signals. They function as they should but the clicking noise for the turn signal will not turn off when I have made a turn (it actually makes a clicking noise about 3 times as fast as the regular turn click). I have had this looked at by a mechanic and I was told that this was not part of the hazard light recall which my car falls under so it was not fixed. It is a very distracting problem and the only time I can get relief from the clicking noise is when I actually get ready to make a turn by turning on the actual turn signal. There are a number of problems that numerous owners are experiencing. I am hoping that some thing is done about the windows and the engine gasket. I don't think consumers should be responsible for poor engineering and design. Gm should make things right.
