One problem related to hatchback/liftgate support device has been reported for the 1997 Oldsmobile Bravada. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Tailgate gas spring bracket design on tailgate inadequate. Failed abruptly, resulting in the tailgate slamming shut, narrowly missing lorraine and son who had just stepped away from the opening. If they had been in the way, they would have been injured, perhaps severely. Gas spring drove upwards with great force and damaged tailgate and back glass.
