I recently purchased a my2000 Oldsmobile Bravada from a private party. Upon driving the vehicle home, I realized that the brake lights did not function. Upon further investigation, I found that the hazard flashers also did not work. I found a recall notice on the NHTSA website which covers this vehicle, which describes the malfunction perfectly. Upon contacting the Oldsmobile division of general motors, I was told by the customer service representative that the vehicle in question had been repaired in 2001 as required by the recall campaign. When I informed the individual that the vehicle again had the same malfunction, I was told that since gm had satisfied the requirement to repair the vehicle already, it would be my responsibility to take it to a dealer and have it repaired at my cost. My concern is that there are likely others who have had the same problem repaired by a gm dealer, and are unaware that the problem exists again with their. Driving a vehicle without brake lights is extremely dangerous. I strongly believe that this needs to be looked at again, as the 'fix' performed did not cure the problem long term.
