Transmission Solenoid problems of the 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Two problems related to transmission solenoid have been reported for the 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2006

: the contact stated the vehicle stalled out while attempting to make a left turn at 10 mph and there was a loss of all power. There is a NHTSA recall, #03v527000, regarding the steering. The vehicle has the same problems as indicated in the recall; however it is not included in the recall due to the VIN. The vehicle was seen by a dealer and repairs were made as instructed in the recall. Updated 2/9/2006 - as of 2/24/2006 the vehicle has not been repaired. On 2/10/06 the dealer replaced the transmission pressure control solenoid and replaced mass air flow sensor.

2 Transmission Solenoid problem

Failure Date: 03/26/2004

Automatic transmission failed and must be replaced at 71,000 miles. 'service engine soon' light came on. Dealer reports that code indicates faulty torque clutch converter solenoid. After removing transmission dealer reports that shift solenoid, torque clutch converter and valve body has failed and transmission must be replaced. Gm customer support confirms diagnosis.
