Wheel Problems of Oldsmobile Intrigue

The contact owns a 1998 Oldsmobile Intrigue. While making a turn at 5 mph, the wheel detached from the vehicle. Since that time, whenever the wheel is turned to the left, the vehicle lifts up. The contact discovered NHTSA campaign id number 03v527000 (steering:rack and pinion) for the same symptoms she was experiencing with her vehicle. The manufacturer has not been notified and the vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 160,000.

4 chrome plated aluminum wheels on my Oldsmobile Intrigue have corroded and are leaking air through the hole supplied for the valve stem. They still leak after replacement of the valve stem because of a poor corroded surface. Mechanic indicated that wheels need to be replaced before there is a blow out of the valve stem.

While driving 30 mph front driver side wheel came off. Consumer managed to pull over, and had vehicle towed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Interior of all four of the wheels flaking off and cutting the valve stem of the tire.

Computer would not allow car to start. Paint chipping on all fender edges. Constant flat tires, one near wreck on freeway due to leaking rims that mechanic says should never be driven in the winter becasue the rims will not hold up to the weather.

The wheels been leaking air due to corrosion. Replaced 10 tires and stems. Took vehicle to dealer, and they replaced all 4 yesterday, a couple of weeks ago replaced 1. There chrome plated aluminum wheels that came with the vehicle that have the corrosion build up. Dealer stated that they have seen others that were worse. The valve stems were leaking.

While traveling on the highway on the highway without prior warning he apply his brakes and the vehicle speed off and the vehicle started to spin. Please provide additional information dealer is aware of the problem. Ts.

While making a right turn at about 20 mph left front wheel came off. The dealer stated that the wheel lug nuts have a defect in the metal and that is what caused the wheel to separate. The vehicle went out of control causing damage to chassis and engine. The consumer says this vehicle was not safe.

Olds crome plated the orignal stock alum. Wheels making the wheels thicker, thus the wheels throw off the weights and not the wheels are pealing inside. If the weights are forced down it breakes the tire beed causing a flat. All the Intrigue's with crome aluminum wheels are affected I have taken pictures of the autos on different lots and all are the same. I went to 5 different places to balance these wheels to no avail, and am on my third set of tires.

Wheel bearings and hub failed. This could cause failure of steering and tire contact with road. Also causes tire to "toe" in or out when turning, causing vibration in steering wheel. Ford currently recalling focus for same defect. Dt.
