Three problems related to brake hoses, lines/piping, and fittings have been reported for the 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Right door window inoperative-would not go back up. Left door window inoperative-would not go back up. (December 2002) window wiper arm rubbed hole in brake line, caused brakes to fail resulting in accident.
While performing a requested tire rotation, mechanic noted that one of the front brake lines had been nearly cut through due to rubbing against the brake caliper. Service advisor called to notify me of the problem, which is covered under warranty. However, he was extremely careful to explain to me the potentially catastrophic nature of the problem. Furthermore, he went on to assure me that he was most concerned about my safety. The service advisor's name was "rod".
Consumer states that after recall 01v264000 repairs were done for sliding door, door still will not stay closed. The last time the vehicle was repaired, the problem has reoccured, and was worse than before. The door opens when vehicle is in park. Now it doesn't open with the remote. Consumer states this vehicle has been problematic since purchase. The windshield leaks. The windshield has been replaced twice and taken out and resealed twice. The brakes have been relined twice.
