Two problems related to windshield have been reported for the 1999 Oldsmobile Silhouette. The most recently reported issues are listed below.

1 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 10/22/2000

I was traveling northbound on I-75 with my 9 year old daughter in this minivan. My daughter was in the 1st row back seat on the right side with her seat belt fastened. As I entered the ramp to my exit, the glass in the right side sliding door spontaneously exploded showering my daughter with broken glass. My daughter received a cut on her right lower leg.

2 Windshield problem

Failure Date: 04/07/1999

Upon driving in the middle lane of a 3-lane highway, speed limit 65, driving speed 62-65mph, no vehicle in far left lane to driver's side. . . The front left drivers window burst in on driver and broke apart apparently from nothing other than high winds in area due to no vehicle passing or traveling on left side or objects in road. No object was found to be the cause and no scratch or dent on outside of vehicle identified reason for broken window. The window was all the way up at time of accident. Some small shards of glass scratched face and left hand of driver and scratched through the leather seat and ripped pants driver was wearing but injuries were not severe due to tempered glass. Manufacturer replaced window and we are in process of contacting them concerning the rips in the leather seating since vehicle is only 6 days old. No other cause except possible wind or defect to account for broken window.
