1 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 06/02/2004

Intermittent and ongoing brake problem. When applying the brakes brake pedal went to the floor, causes pulsation and extended stopping distance. Vehicle had been to the dealer on nine different occasions. Dealer replaced many parts of the abs system, but extended stopping distance recurred.

2 Brake Electric Antilock problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2002

Driving on I-95 south in moderate traffic at about 30 mph when traffic slowed ahead of me. When I applied brakes, nothing happened. I applied brakes with 2 feet to the floor and no response. The crash involved the three cars in front of me with no serious injuries but it was frightening. I have read a few similar complaints of this type for 2000 and 1999 Silhouettes.

3 Brake Electric Antilock problem

At any stop where the road is on a slight incline, the van will begin to roll backwards when the brake is released. Accordingly, you have to have your foot on the brake and gas at the same time to avoid a rollback at a stop light. Accordingly, an accident can occur if the car rolls back or too much gas is given while the break is being depressed. Gm dealer said this is normal for this model. My Ford winstar does not do this on the same hills.
