My daughter owns a 2001 olds Silhouette, this past weekend, her front wheel became loose causing the wheel secure points to become oval. Upon investigation, found that the wheel studs show metal fatigue and one on each side of the vehicles front were broken off even with the front brake caliper. I asked around to a few mechanics they stated this was unusual. The vehicle now has 4 studs on each of the front wheels securing them to the drive line instead of the required five. Has there been any other occurrences similar to this?.

Noticed decrease in tire pressure on one tire then on all. Examination of rim showed extensive corrosion on all rims both exterior and interior. Leakage was so bad that I was filling the tires daily. Went to tire store where I purchased the tires to have them examined. Service rep said it wasn't the tires it was the corroded rims that were causing the problem. I had the rims replaced (all 4) and have not had a problem since this repair. In conversation with the store rep he commented that I wasn't the first person to come in with this problem and that he had seem ~10 vehicles with this problem over the past two months. In fact< as soon as I brought the vehicle in and explained the problem it seemed that he knew exactly what the cause was. I have kept the rims for evaluation if anyone is interested. .

Abs and traction control stopped working and right front bearing defective. Wheel would have fallen off and braking was very hard. Would have caused an accident, injury, and/or death if continued to be driven before repair. Right front wheel hub bearing w/ abs sensor had to be replaced. Then again in December, 2006 and now may, 2009.

In 2005 or 2006 I took this olds. In because the chrome on the inside of the wheels was coming off the wheels. . . . . They said nothing could be done about it. Now in 2008 the valve stems on all 4 wheels are leaking because of the corrosion of the wheels. I don't feel this is safe as my wife has to check the tires and add air every couple of weeks. I've had new valve stems put in, but they still leak. I feel gm should replace the wheels as this is an unsafe condition. I'm sure there have been other complaints about this, as all 4 wheels are doing it.

Tires "deflate" daily due to poorly manufactured rims. Tires won't seal and hold air. This has been occurring since I have owned the vehicle (6 years). Numerous sets of new tires have been installed with the same results.

2001 olds Silhouette premiere model has defective wheels. They deteriorate causing flat tires. Outten olds at rt. 61 hamburg PA. Acknowledges gm has developed a method to correct the problem. However a recall should be made as gm hopes consumers wont have the problem until warranty runs out. Continual flats on my car. Problem for possible accidents, getting stuck in bad urban areas, elderly not able to fix flats on roadway getting hit by passing motorists. . Read more...

The contact owns a 2000 Oldsmobile Silhouette. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard a knocking sound coming from the front end near the wheels. The vehicle was taken to the dealer three times and they replaced the front passenger side tire. The current mileage was 35,554 and failure mileage was 1,000.

When traveling up a hill under wet conditions wheels slip. Consumer states it's the wrong tread design on the tire.

All four tires were leaking air and deflating. This was caused by corrosion on the inside of the chrome wheel. The flawed plating on the wheels had white oxide on areas where the chrome had spalled.
