Three problems related to fuel pump have been reported for the 1998 Plymouth Breeze. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
The contact owns a 1998 Plymouth Breeze. The contact stated that the vehicle would not start. The mechanic stated that the fuel pump failed and the top section was burned. There is a recall for the fuel system, gasoline: delivery: fuel pump (NHTSA campaign id number 06e088000); however, the contact had not verified if his VIN was included. The current and failure mileages were 109,000.
I was driving to my sisters and was going towards a light , going to turn left and before I was able to do that the car went dead , the fuel pump went, the car just went dead and almost caused an accident, people peeping their horns, telling me to get off the road etc. I had to call a tow truck in the middle of the night. I brought it to a Chrysler dealership and had the fuel pump and filter replaced, which cost me $663 and for a single mother I can not afford.
Per mechanic loud humming from rear of car indicates fuel pump going. Also strong gas odor at times. With the low mileage pump should not be defective.
