Four problems related to ignition switch have been reported for the 1999 Plymouth Breeze. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
My 3 1/2 year old son was getting in the car and bumped the gear shift while the car was off, no foot on the brake and no keys in the ignition and it rolled backwards across the street and hit the neighbors tree resulting in $3100 in damage to trunk and bumper. My insurance had to pay even though I reported it all the way to the attorney general. Chrysler stated we should have done routine checks and would not pay to fix the defect or damages. Recently there was an alert in consumer report and there have been many incidences of the same nature. What's it going to take before they send out a recall? luckily my son was not injured. I can't switch car insurance because it was recorded as an accident and I would have higher rates which is in my opinion chryslers fault.
While driving inclement weather, humidity or very hot temperatures the dashboard completely shut down. The windshield wipers/air conditioner/rpm gauge/fuel gauge, and mph gage dropped to zero. Took vehicle to the dealer, and was told that it was the ignition switch. However, the problem recurred.
We have had the car for 4 months & had the front brakes replaced 4 times now, an still sqeauling. The key falls out of the ignition while car is running.
Consumer was able to remove the keys from the ignition while the gear was in drive, which resulted in an accident, consumer thought gear was in park.
