I was driving to my sisters and was going towards a light , going to turn left and before I was able to do that the car went dead , the fuel pump went, the car just went dead and almost caused an accident, people peeping their horns, telling me to get off the road etc. I had to call a tow truck in the middle of the night. I brought it to a Chrysler dealership and had the fuel pump and filter replaced, which cost me $663 and for a single mother I can not afford.
While driving vehicle idled real high, then slowed down. Put the key in the ignition and the vehicle started up, but it did not move. Had a mechanic to look at the vehicle and was told that the computer was burnt out. Then she had a second opinon, and was told that she had a fuel pump air leak, and this caused her to have power reduction while driving. She states she has never received a recall on her vehicle.

Car stalled several times, found out it was the fuel pump, mechanic showed me the fuel pump and the wiring on it had actually burned, this could have resulted in a fire because the fuel pump is in the tank.

The oem fuel pump fits into the gas tank. The positive wire leading into the tank shorted out melting the wire insulation on the outside of the gas tank melting the plastic into causing gas to leak out through the hole it created. This gas flowed over the bare wire. The same wire continues into the inside of the gas tank and it continued to short in there causing the plastic inside of the gas tank to turn brown from the heat. My concern is a spark would have been created perticularly if the tank was partially full the fumes would have ignited causing a serious explosion. The dealership where I bought the replacement part said there are no recalls and the same holds true with the data on your site. The concern should be there are thousands of this model type out there that may have the same dangerous condition.
Electrical wires in through fuel tank shorted out, and fuel pump would shut down. Took to dealership, and informed by mechanic nothing to worry about. Way system was designed.
Per mechanic loud humming from rear of car indicates fuel pump going. Also strong gas odor at times. With the low mileage pump should not be defective.
We hav ehad numerous problems with our vehicle. We have had starters, transmission modules, fuel pumps, head gaskets, and a leak detection pump replaced so far. All Chrysler can say about this is that your out of luck. The dealership threatened to use force to beat me up (pat terhar teh gm at the dealership) all I want is Chrysler to take responsibility for the number of problems I have had, instead they keep changing me hundreds of dollars for repairs. My understanding is that there are numerous cars with similar problems as I have had. Please investigate. I am running out of steam. Thanks!)( dot number: ).
